Without waiting for her to argue, he took her hand and led her away.
Monts later... he presented sothing unexpected.
A bowl of steaming ran.
The rich aroma filled the air instantly, warm and comforting, carrying hints of broth, spices, and freshly cooked noodles.
Ivy’s eyes lit up.
’Ran...’ she thought, almost unable to hide her delight. She had been craving it for so long.
She looked at Silas in surprise. "How did you..."
He simply smiled.
Even he did not fully understand why he had made it. It was just a feeling, an instinct that told him she would want it.
Neither of them realized that the soulmate crystal they had taken earlier had deepened their connection far beyond what they understood.
Ivy began eating. One bowl. Then another.
Each bite brought visible satisfaction, her earlier exhaustion lting away.
Silas silently brought her a third bowl.
And when he returned with a fourth... Ivy quickly raised her hand, laughing lightly.
"No more! I’m completely full. If I eat even a little more, I might actually explode."
Silas frowned slightly. "Don’t say things like that," he said. "You’ll jinx it."
Ivy nodded, still smiling.
Then her expression shifted slightly as she looked at him. "Did you find anything?" she asked.
Silas’s gaze turned serious.
"It’s the Talon Base," he replied.
Ivy frowned imdiately.
"Talon Base...?" she repeated, her thoughts racing.
From what she knew, even if they were capable... they should not have had the knowledge or ability to trigger sothing like this.
’So how did they do it...?’
In truth, sothing about all of this felt deeply wrong.
The mutation should not have even begun yet.
Every plant and animal had been dissected within an hour of death, their internal structures laid bare with precision.
The more she observed, the colder her expression beca.
"These... aren’t natural mutations," she murmured, her voice low but firm.
She quickly ca to understand the truth.
All of these plants and animals had been forcibly altered, infected not only with the zombie virus but also injected with an unknown chemical compound.
The combination had accelerated their mutation unnaturally.
"It’s like... an evolved version of the zombie virus," she said, her brows knitting together.
’This kind of advancent... this shouldn’t exist yet,’ she thought, her fingers curling slightly.
Her first instinct pointed toward the superior beings.
But then... she had heard sothing else.
"It’s connected to the Talon Base," Silas had told her earlier.
Ivy’s eyes narrowed slightly. ’That doesn’t make sense,’ she thought imdiately. In her previous life, even after ten years, the Talon Base had never co into contact with the superior beings.
But then again... her gaze softened for a brief mont.
’In my previous life... I was never reborn with this knowledge either,’ she reminded herself. Things had already changed.
The tiline was no longer the sa.
Taking a slow breath, she looked at Silas. "What do you think is going on?" she asked.
Silas frowned slightly, his expression turning thoughtful.
"There’s another possibility," he said slowly. "Soone else... might have mories of a past life. Soone within the Talon Base."
Ivy’s eyes flickered.
’Another reborn person...? ’The idea settled into her mind.
It was possible.
If she had returned with knowledge of the future, then soone else could have as well.
But sothing still didn’t add up.
’Even if they knew the future... how would they know how to create sothing like this?’ she wondered.
The formula, the thod, and this level of mutation required more than just foresight.
Silas seed to read her thoughts.
"That’s exactly why we need to investigate the Talon Base," he said.
Ivy nodded slowly.
"I’ll go," she said after a brief pause. "I can infiltrate them as a spy."
But the mont those words left her lips, her hands trembled faintly.
mories surged back.
Her breathing faltered slightly. ’That place...’ she thought, her chest tightening.
Silas noticed imdiately.
He stepped closer and gently pressed his forehead against hers, his touch warm and grounding. "You don’t have to force yourself," he said softly. "You don’t need to sacrifice yourself like that."
"I’ll go instead."
Ivy shook her head almost instantly. "No," she said, her voice firm despite the hesitation in her eyes. "That place... it’s too dangerous."
She did not want anyone she cared about to step foot into that nightmare.
But Silas did not back down.
"Ivy," he said, his tone turning serious for the first ti, "even if you’re afraid, you don’t have to face everything alone."
His eyes locked onto hers.
"And more importantly... I want to deal with them myself."
A flicker of anger passed through his gaze.
"For what they did to you."
Ivy froze slightly.
"If you truly see as your husband," he continued, his voice low but unwavering, "then let do this."
She stared at him, stunned.
It was the first ti he had pushed her like this.
But she understood.
’He hates it... when I get hurt,’ she thought. ’If soone had done the sa to him... I wouldn’t have spared them either.’
Her thoughts drifted briefly.
Over the past few weeks, she had already been dealing with people from her past life, those who had wronged her.
She had shown no rcy.
Those who had abused or humiliated her had been punished in ways that forced them to experience the pain they once inflicted.
’I’m not doing anything wrong,’ she told herself. ’I’m just making sure they can’t hurt anyone again.’
Taking a deep breath, she finally nodded.
"Alright," she said quietly.
Silas’s face lit up with determination.
Without delay, he gathered a group of elite military personnel and prepared to move toward the Talon Base.
anwhile, Ivy shifted her focus.
If Silas were handling Talon Base, then she would investigate the superior beings.
This ti, her efforts paid off.
After days of searching, gathering fragnts of information, and connecting clues, she finally located what seed to be one of their hidden bases.
She did not go alone. She assembled a team.
