Now reading: Chapter 1834 - 1831: Fireflies? from Zombie Bodyguard, a Action novel by Thousand miles cloud.

After the cultivation container is closed, it is completely sealed, but inside there are intricate chanical arms that can be operated via computer, even more flexible than human hands.

Professor Hu controlled the chanical arm and opened the black bottle. Once the lid was removed, a soft purple light was emitted from the bottle mouth. Then, many purple light dots flew out, which were small insects capable of emitting purple light.

"Fireflies?" Lin Tian was montarily stunned, as were the other professors, because upon seeing luminous bugs, most people instinctively thought they were fireflies.

However, these bugs are much smaller than fireflies, and their luminescent parts differ. Fireflies emit light from their abdon, whereas the insects inside the container emit light from their heads.

Professor Hu shook his head with a smile: "When I first discovered them, I had the sa reaction as you all, but I’m certain that these are not fireflies but a mutated species, remarkably perfect."

Lin Tian knew that Professor Hu’s sense of aesthetics differed from ordinary people. His idea of perfect was not about beauty or appearance but rather the features of this organism, which impressed him enough to use such a descriptor.

"You can’t imagine where these insects were discovered. The stone platform holding the jade coffin in the ancient tomb could be moved, and beneath the platform was a cavity where these flying insects were living."

"However, before the stone platform was moved, this cavity was sealed. How did these insects survive and reproduce inside? How did they even co into existence initially?" Professor Hu fired off several questions in succession.

Elder Jiang and the others listened and fell into deep thought, but Lin Tian thought of the female zombie and wondered if these flying insects were affected and mutated in a similar way to Jiang Chen.

Without waiting for them to find an answer, Professor Hu continued: "I deduce that there were insect eggs inside the cavity, which mutated due to so influence, but how did the hatched insects survive? This is what I consider the reason for their perfection."

"We discovered that the temperature inside the cavity is exceptionally high. Geological experts explained it’s due to the rich geothermal energy beneath Lu Mountain. To survive, the flying insects evolved and can live by absorbing geothermal energy and certain minerals within the cavity. This is their perfect trait."

"In a way, they are like cockroaches. Even if Earth’s environnt changes and mass species extinction occurs, they won’t go extinct. They can adapt to extrely harsh conditions. A species that can survive in any environnt is the most perfect." Professor Hu’s expression grew sowhat excited as he spoke.

"Professor Hu, how do you determine they evolved? Maybe they regressed. In Earth’s ancient past, environnts were very harsh, with frequent geological changes and volcanoes, where many unicellular or multicellular organisms survived through geothermal energy, moisture, and minerals."

"And all this information is recorded in the organism’s DNA. After evolution, so functions beco unnecessary, and that portion of DNA information gets hidden within the DNA chain. When the environnt changes and becos unsuitable for survival, these DNA sequences activate, causing mutations to allow organisms to adapt and survive."

Lin Tian spoke quite a bit, then noticed the professors were taken aback.

"Uh... Am I incorrect?" Lin Tian, though arrogant, acknowledged that these professors were the true experts in biology.

"You’re absolutely correct." Professor Hu suddenly clapped in appreciation, seeming to have found a kindred spirit: "Lin Tian, co apply to join the paleobiology program; with your exceptional thinking, you’ll surely achieve great things."

Paleobiology? Studying this could allow research into the female zombie, Lin Tian instinctively thought.

"Old Hu, co on, Lin Tian should study dicine. With his skills and talent, he could beco an outstanding physician." Jiang Xiu Ying countered.

Watching the two distinguished professors argue, Lin Tian smiled wryly, helplessly raising his hand, "Can we not discuss my career paths right now? Professor Hu’s earlier words inspired . Couldn’t we alter a patient’s internal environnt to mutate parasites, making them harmless instead of blood-sucking?"

"That’s a nice idea, but a species’ mutation takes a very long ti, akin to thousands of years, yet patients can’t wait even a few months." Professor He shook his head, dismissing Lin Tian’s idea.

"Lin Tian’s idea isn’t impossible." Li Qingyun, who had been silent, suddenly spoke, and the professors looked at her.

Li Qingyun’s expression remained unchanged as she calmly said, "I have quite so knowledge of folk sorcery, where for cultivating the strongest Gu Worm, a Gu Cultivator will place various Gu Worms in a sealed container, add poisons or other substances, letting them fight each other."

"So Gu Worms, to survive, will mutate under the influence of other Gu Worms and substances, becoming stronger, killing off other Gu Worms, and surviving themselves."

"And the mutation of these Gu Worms doesn’t take long, ranging from a few days to several months." Li Qingyun explained.

Hearing Li Qingyun ntion killing, the professors felt a chill, but the sensation was fleeting, and their focus returned to Li Qingyun’s words.

"We don’t know sorcery; how should we proceed?" Professor He asked.

Lin Tian’s eyes sparkled faintly, looking at Li Qingyun, thinking about how this Gu Cultivator might respond.

Li Qingyun was about to answer when suddenly there was a faint "thump-thump-thump" collision sound in the lab, clear despite its quietness due to the lab’s stillness.

"The cultivation container." Lin Tian was the first to locate the sound’s source, pointing to a nearby cultivation container.

Inside the container, a black bug was jumping repeatedly, striking the container’s glass wall. The bug had two mouths: one with a sharp needle-like proboscis, the other with sharp teeth.

"This is a biological sample returned from the site; why has it suddenly beco agitated?" Professor He was deeply puzzled and surprised.

"Look, they’ve beco agitated too!" Professor Hu pointed at the container in front of him, where the purple-glowing insects were also hitting the glass wall en masse.

"They seem to sense each other." Lin Tian noticed the bugs on both sides were moving towards each other.

"Two different types of bugs, even previously separated by distance, how could they sense each other? What’s their commonality?" Jiang Xiu Ying asked with a puzzled voice.

Zombie Ancestor! The thought flashed through Lin Tian’s mind; both were found at the Zombie Ancestor’s sealed site, which is their only link.

Li Qingyun glanced at Lin Tian inadvertently, and from her gaze, Lin Tian discerned that this Gu Cultivator also seed to understand the underlying reason.
