Lin Tian also felt that Gu sorcery wasn’t that simple. If basking in the sun could dispel the Gu, then would Gu sorcery still be so mysterious?

Miss was shocked by hearing how dangerous Gu sorcery was, which is why she said that. Now that she had regained her composure, she too felt that her idea had been too naive.

Feeling embarrassed, she asked, "What happens if it’s exposed to the sun then?"

"The Soul-devouring Gu is very peculiar. When it’s young, it’s tiny, headless, and lacks excretory organs, with its body covered in tentacles. It reproduces asexually. You all should know this from biology class, right? Once stimulated by the sun, it perceives its survival to be threatened and generates a terrifying survival instinct."

"This instinct is to reproduce. Its tentacles grow rapidly and unrestricted, occupying the entire brain, bone marrow, and all the walls of blood vessels of the host. As the tentacles mature, they break off bit by bit, turning into new individuals of the Soul-devouring Gu. The host’s body teems with them and can be sucked dry into a husk in an instant!" said Professor Xue with grave seriousness.

To be teeming with them, it would be a nightmare for anyone with a phobia of tight clusters. Just hearing it might make them faint. Lin Tian even used the Golden Needle to stimulate the Gu worm, thankfully controlling the intensity, or Mr. Qi might already be dead.

That is to say, even if the hospital found a Gu worm parasitizing his brain, the doctors would have no way to treat it, because the Gu worm cannot tolerate any stimulation.

"Professor Xue, you said you’re not a Gu Cultivator, yet why do you understand so much about Gu sorcery?" Lin Tian grew more suspicious. The more Professor Xue explained, the more puzzled Lin Tian beca.

"Since I learned to read, I have followed my master in studying Huaxia dicine. Beginning at the age of ten, I traveled with my master everywhere, exploring famous mountains and rivers to identify various herbs. At eighteen, I accompanied my master deep into the Miao Border to probe into Gu sorcery. Decades ago, information wasn’t as widespread as it is today. Back then, so places in the Southern Border were virtually isolated from the world. I personally witnessed many things that defy common sense," Professor Xue reminisced.

Back when transportation was inconvenient, it was nearly impossible for Professor Xue and his master to venture into the heart of the Miao Border by themselves; the idea of a road didn’t even exist. The outskirts were made up of high mountains and deep waters, and they entered the core of the Miao Border following a foreign expedition.

Everyone thought the Miao Border was a mysterious place, but in fact, the locals were the warst and most hospitable. Both Professor Xue and his master, as well as the expedition team, received enthusiastic hospitality from the local residents.

The locals didn’t avoid the topic of Gu sorcery, so Professor Xue and his master’s investigation went smoothly. Although they lived with the expedition team, everybody minded their own business and coexisted peacefully at first.

One night, the expedition team returned utterly drunk, which Professor Xue found unsurprising, given the local fondness for alcohol. But the next morning, the team leader felt discomfort in his stomach, thinking it was nothing serious. However, by noon, his belly had swollen as if it was going to burst.

At the ti, Professor Xue’s master sensed sothing was amiss. He took a wooden basin, filled it with water, and sprinkled in so dicinal powder, then he asked the team leader to drop so blood into it.

Knowing they were physicians, the team leader complied, cutting an incision and dripping blood into the water. A minute later, the entire basin turned black, which scared the leader so much his legs went weak.

"Mr. Foreigner, you have been hexed by a Gu. Did you violate any taboos or offend anyone here?" the master asked the foreigner at the ti.

"I... I saw that the girls here are passionate, so I just..." said the foreigner, terrified.

Professor Xue knew that the team leader had treated the local girls as fools, trying to take advantage of them, and had paid the price for it. Miao girls might be passionate, but unless you’re their lover, you can’t just take liberties with them. They hold their loyalty in high regard, and such actions were taboo.

"I don’t know how to dispel the Gu. It’s best to seek the Grass Witch in the village. Otherwise, I don’t know what consequences you’ll face," Professor Xue’s master advised.

Grass Witch was what the locals called her, but she was actually a Gu Cultivator. Out of concern for their lives, they had no choice but to seek her help.

Professor Xue also followed them. Unexpectedly, the foreigner had attempted to flirt with none other than the Grass Witch’s daughter. Fortunately, the Grass Witch wasn’t evil. After rely teaching him a lesson and sparing his life, she agreed to help him remove the Gu.

Removing the Gu seed simple enough. The Grass Witch brought out three jin of garlic and sprinkled so mysterious powder on it, then had the team leader eat it.

It’s excruciating for a foreigner to eat raw garlic, let alone three jin of it. His already bloated stomach swelled even more after consuming the garlic, stretching his clothes as if he were carrying twins.

Right after finishing, the foreigner’s stomach began to ache terribly, and then he ran to the toilet, where he remained for over an hour. When the team leader erged, his face was as pale as a ghost, and he was shaking, but at least his stomach had gone down.

"You sure spent a long ti in the toilet, didn’t you? Is three jin of garlic enough to keep you going for an hour?" Professor Xue joked, trying to lighten the mood.

However, the Grass Witch sneered and said, "You think his stomach was so big because of the garlic? Let tell you, his belly was full of Gu Worms!"

At this point, Professor Xue paused, glancing at Miss. She was not only sweating from her forehead but also biting her lips tightly. Clearly, the thought of a belly full of Gu Worms had a significant impact on her.

"Brother Lin, you seem quite brave, not showing any change in color," Professor Xue said as he turned to Lin Tian with a smile.

"Oh, where, where, I’m far from the witty banter of Professor Xue," Lin Tian replied humbly, but his smile didn’t look humble at all.

"Witty banter my ass, I was eighteen, and as they say, young bulls are not afraid of tigers. I was incredibly bold, not believing what the Grass Witch said, insisting on seeing for myself if it was really all worms. I wish I hadn’t seen it. The toilet was nearly clogged with a type of black threadworm, and I ended up vomiting my al from the night before and couldn’t eat for three days!" Professor Xue said, still sowhat scared by the mory.

Damn, Professor Xue is really sothing, actually going to the toilet to confirm it himself, truly an extraordinary deed by an extraordinary person.

With this further description, Miss frowned even more. Lin Tian, seeing her, kindly suggested, "Miss, if you can’t stand it, you should leave; why force yourself to suffer here?"

But instead of calming down, Miss beca even more defiant, lifting her chin and saying, "Hmph, if you can listen, why can’t I? I’m not afraid of anyone!"

It’s in a woman’s nature to fear snakes, rats, insects, and ants, and Miss was no exception. But to avoid showing weakness in front of Lin Tian, she steeled herself.

She was a truly competitive woman, Lin Tian thought, shaking his head and sighing.

"Then, after another half a month, we left the village," Professor Xue concluded.

"You just ntioned removing Gu, and it doesn’t seem too difficult. Professor Xue, do you know how to remove the Soul-devouring Gu?" Lin Tian asked expectantly.
