Now reading: Chapter 441 - 440: Grass Witch’s Friend from Zombie Bodyguard, a Action novel by Thousand miles cloud.

"Originally, I only learned so basic Gu cultivation techniques from my mother, which aren’t really powerful, and I haven’t practiced Gu cultivation for a long ti. I definitely can’t dispel Gu, let alone such a tricky Soul-devouring Gu. Whoever placed the Soul-devouring Gu is too cruel," Sang Lin answered truthfully.

"You can’t dispel the Soul-devouring Gu either?" Lin Tian said, sowhat disappointed.

He suddenly thought of sothing—if the Soul-devouring Gu really was placed by the Japanese, and they wanted to get rid of , why didn’t they directly use Gu on ? Or had they tried to use it but failed? Lin Tian frowned in thought.

Last ti Bai Yufeng and the Japanese ca to the bar to cause trouble, if their goal wasn’t rely the Night Rose Bar, that competition would have been a great opportunity to use Gu. Lin Tian thought of more possibilities. He was immune to Gu techniques because of his zombie body, but his good friend Liu Wenxing was right next to him then. Could the Japanese have tried to use Gu on him instead?

Lin Tian didn’t have ti to continue asking Sang Lin. He imdiately took out his phone and called Liu Wenxing.

"Hello, Brother Tian, what’s up? I’m in class," ca Liu Wenxing’s whispered reply.

"Forget about the class. I want to know if you’ve been feeling unwell lately, like having severe stomach pain or anything?" Lin Tian asked urgently, knowing that Gu techniques were no joke.

"Not at all; I’m quite healthy. I’ve been following your advice: getting enough rest and balancing work with leisure," Liu Wenxing said, puzzled.

"Then, has anything strange happened around you?" Lin Tian still wasn’t reassured and asked.

"Not really... oh, wait, maybe. Yesterday, I ran into Sun Decai, Bai Yufeng, and those Japanese on the street. They told to warn you to be careful, saying you might end up dead without knowing how. They also told to stay away from you, or I might suddenly contract an incurable disease. But I ignored them thinking they were just barking," Liu Wenxing said.

Incurable disease? Lin Tian’s eyes narrowed. Wasn’t Mr. Qi suffering from an incurable disease? Whether or not the Japanese did it themselves, the Gu issue definitely had sothing to do with them.

"Wenxing, it’s fine. Just be careful in the future and don’t let strangers get too close. Go back to your class," Lin Tian didn’t explain to Liu Wenxing. Further explanation was useless and would only distract him from his studies. As an ordinary person, he wouldn’t be able to change anything significant.

"Lin Tian, are you worried about your friends being hard by Gu techniques?" Miss asked, concerned.

"I do have this worry; the person who deployed the Soul-devouring Gu is heartless. What couldn’t they do?" Lin Tian said.

However, Sang Lin shook her head and said, "Brother Lin, what you don’t know is that Gu Cultivators won’t randomly use Gu on ordinary people, as cultivating a Gu worm is not easy and they are incredibly precious. The more powerful the Gu, the harder it is to cultivate. Unless there’s a significant reason, they won’t use Gu lightly."

"What about Mr. Qi then? He’s afflicted with the Soul-devouring Gu," Lin Tian said, confused.

"Although the Soul-devouring Gu is rare, it’s still not considered precious. Like the Golden Silkworm Gu, now that’s truly valuable. Moreover, using Gu has a success rate; perhaps Mr. Qi was just their test subject," Sang Lin said seriously.

Lin Tian felt a stir in his heart and wondered, "A test subject? Then their use of Gu, besides aiming for the Qi family’s wealth, was actually to target a bigger goal?"

After the test, who was the bigger target? Was it , Xiao Manxuan, or Miss? Or did they intend to take down everyone? Several figures popped up continuously in Lin Tian’s mind.

Miss seed to have thought of sothing as well and exchanged a look with Lin Tian. It was a pity that Sang Lin had stopped practicing as a Gu Cultivator; otherwise, they could ask her to co out of retirent to help dispel the Gu.

"Don’t worry, though I no longer practice as a Gu Cultivator, I know soone who might be able to help you," Sang Lin reassured.

Professor Xue joined the conversation: "Are you talking about your mother’s friend?"

Sang Lin confird the location with a nod, and Lin Tian caught onto what was being ntioned. When Professor Xue called soone "mom," it definitely wasn’t his own mother because Chinese people don’t use that term in this way.

The "mom" he ntioned must be his mother-in-law, that Grass Witch. Considering that Professor Xue himself was over sixty years old, the Grass Witch must be at least eighty. By that reasoning, the Grass Witch’s friend would also be at least eighty or ninety years old, an old woman indeed.

At such an age and still a Gu Cultivator, she must be incredibly powerful. In ancient terms, she had already beco a witch or a banshee.

The first image that ca to Lin Tian’s mind was of an old woman in a black robe, holding a crystal ball, with her hair graying.

"Lin Tian, what are you thinking about? Co on, let’s go," Miss waved her small hand in front of Lin Tian, puzzled.

"Oh, that soon? Alright, let’s go," Lin Tian ca back to his senses and was the first to walk out of the room.

He also wanted to find a way to cure the Gu quickly but didn’t want to hurry Sang Lin. Since she was so proactive, that was for the best.

After they left the room, they had Sang Lin with them, but the bulletproof car was big enough to accommodate two more people without any problem.

"Let’s go to the Craft Street," Sang Lin said decisively.

Craft Street was similar to Jewelry Street but specialized in crafts, including folk handicrafts and various odd items. So quirky young people liked to visit Craft Street to buy items like crystal skulls to showcase their unique personalities.

They drove to their destination, where the street was crowded with people and the shops’ stalls extended onto the street, occupying part of it, making it impossible for cars to enter, so they had to walk.

After parking the car, Sang Lin and Professor Xue led the way, with Lin Tian and the Miss following, walking into Craft Street. There were many strange crafts here, such as dark red little coffins used for decoration, implying promotion and wealth, along with ghost masks—it was really a hodgepodge of crafts.

"Here we are, this is the place," Sang Lin suddenly said.

Lin Tian looked up and saw a wooden signboard with the store na engraved on it: South Ocean Crafts.

This shop sold even stranger items, including small coffins, paper figures, terracotta ghost dolls, and talisman-like papers. The most terrifying items were in so glass tubes, where, soaked in so liquid, were things like animal bodies.

"Damn, are these real specins?" Lin Tian pointed out the contents of the glass jars, swearing aloud.

"Of course they are," Sang Lin said nonchalantly. "So people, when their pets die, can’t bear to bury them and ask this shop to make specins for rembrance. This is the wet preservation thod, and there’s also a dry thod, look."

Lin Tian followed where she pointed, and indeed, on the inside wall, there were specins of cats and dogs, all dried out.

"That’s a bit morbid!" the Miss frowned and comnted.

"It’s not exactly fair to say that. In ancient tis, nobles and mbers of the royal family hoped their bodies would not decay and would last forever. Abroad, there are even mummies, so it can be understood," Lin Tian said. Although he didn’t like it, he could understand.

Sang Lin ignored the pair’s remarks and directly asked a clerk, "I’m looking for your boss, please announce us," she said.
