Ninjas acted as janitors, indicating an unusually high status for this laboratory. Lin Tian noticed that these ninjas didn’t seem to have any spirit left in them, probably intimidated by the Gu Cultivators.
The two ninjas were cleaning up not human bodies, but rather what appeared to be animals, although they looked mummified to the extent that it was impossible to tell whether they were cats or dogs.

There were other things in the rest of the glass cases, but Kikuchi Mika specifically wanted to clear out the corner. At first, Lin Tian found it odd, but upon closer inspection, he understood why.
These were indeed bodies, but they had mostly dried up and looked significantly less disgusting than the others that were bloated with fluids.
"I’ve docunted all the experints here. This is already the third batch this month," Kikuchi Mika said sowhat sighingly, her emotions unclear.
Ning Luoxi surveyed the large room, which contained nine experint stations, hence nine glass cases. If this was the third batch, it ant nurous experints had already taken place.
She furrowed her brows slightly and asked, "Lady Kikuchi, we are new here and not very familiar with the laboratory. Who is conducting the experints here?"
"Of course, it’s Lord Gu," Kikuchi Mika blinked, speaking as if it were odd that soone might not know Lord Gu.
"Is that so? Lord Gu conducts experints so frequently, and if all are done on living people, wouldn’t many die? Aren’t you afraid the outside world will find out?" Ning Luoxi asked with feigned curiosity.

Kikuchi Mika shook her head and said, "Not necessarily. Sotis it’s animals, sotis it’s corpses. Live humans are typically used if they’re betrayers. Anyone who betrays the boss and gets caught has only one fate: to beco a subject for Lord Gu’s experints. If they are lucky, they’ll die during the first experint. Those are the luckiest betrayers."
To die on the first try and be considered lucky? Lin Tian was taken aback, not fully comprehending.
Seeing the confused faces of Lin Tian and others, Kikuchi Mika explained, "You are new and unaware that becoming a subject for Lord Gu’s experints is more painful than enduring the Eighteen Layers of Hell. They beg for life in vain, for death but cannot die. Dying quickly is the only wish of those betrayers."
So that’s how it is. Gu Cultivators’ thods for dealing with betrayers are indeed cruel and ruthless. Lin Tian suddenly understood why previously captured ninjas still acted so defiantly—the price of betrayal was simply too steep.
