Foxy set her down by the door and faced the monsters. Eva watched as her beast devoured their life force, but no matter how many it consud, the creatures kept coming—endless and relentless.

Then Foxy lashed out with its tails—each one striking down six monsters at once, absorbing their energy even as it fought, buying Eva enough ti to heal her wounds.

Loud shrieks and the crack of bones hitting the floor echoed through the room, each sound intensifying Eva’s pain.

Eva broke out in cold sweat as she pressed her limp legs to check her condition—her bones had been crushed, and the only way to heal herself was to absorb the surrounding life force and nd her bones.

She knew it was going to be a painful process, but she couldn’t dwell on it—Foxy was struggling to protect her and fight off the monsters at the sa ti.

Eva took a deep breath. She had never absorbed life force energy before, and the idea of draining soone’s life until they shrank like mummies made her uneasy.

She didn’t have the luxury of choice and quickly absorbed the monster’s life force. This ti, the energy wasn’t the usual green—it shimred a soft, pearl white.

The light hovered for a mont, then shot into Eva’s body. She scread, her voice echoing through the room as her shattered bones knit back together.

"Argh!" Eva slamd her fist against the ground, fighting the urge to tear off her own legs as searing pain tore through her body.

Tears stread down her reddened face, sliding over the veins bulging from her neck from the strain of her screams.

She ignored the pain in her hands as the soft crack of bones snapping back into place echoed through the room, mingling with the shrieks and the rumbling pits left by Foxy’s attacks.

What felt like ages to Eva had only been a few minutes. The pain slowly faded, leaving behind a deep numbness. She was about to stop absorbing the energy when the tattoo on her back began to glow softly—then suddenly pulled in the energy with full force.

Eva’s heart skipped a beat when she realized she no longer had control over her body. Terror flooded her as the countless monsters around her froze in midair, their life force tearing free and rushing directly into her.

"Stop..." Eva whispered weakly, her vision fading as darkness closed in. She didn’t notice the dungeon tremble and cast them out into the desert.

Ethan and Aaron had also been thrown out. Dazed and caught off guard, they scanned their surroundings for Eva—and saw her lying on the ground, half-buried in sand, beneath a sky that had already turned dark.

Foxy stood guard, its body tense and alert, driven by a single instinct — to protect Eva and keep her safe from harm. Through their bond, it could sense that Eva was in a dangerous situation.

Ethan and Aaron rushed toward her, but were stopped by Foxy’s threatening growl; its seven tails hovered in the air, ready to strike if they moved even an inch closer.

Ethan raised his hand in a friendly way, showing he wasn’t a threat to Eva, but Foxy was too deep in its protective mode to care if Ethan was one of her husband’s.

The sky above them continued to darken, the tattoo on Eva’s becoming hotter and humming as if alive, while Eva remained deathly pale and unaware of the changes happening to her body.

Ethan and Aaron faced a dilemma; they couldn’t attack Foxy because it was Eva’s beast. Ethan patted Wolfy to move forward, hoping it might recognize Wolfy, but Foxy attacked, its tail slamming into Wolfy. Wolfy dodged and held back from retaliating.

Seeing Ethan’s idea didn’t go well, Aaron tried using his shadow to hold Foxy down, but Foxy’s eyes flashed, and it enveloped its tail with a green do before striking at the creeping shadow with a fierce slam.

Aaron’s shadow hands lost their energy from Foxy’s attack, fading until they disappeared completely.

Aaron’s eyes flashed with surprise. He had never t anyone who could destroy his shadow before, but now wasn’t the ti to be amazed—he needed to reach Eva. Lightning flashed in the sky above her, quickly darkening as the darkened sky spread past them.

7 as beads of rain began to fall on the sandy ground. Within monts, the drizzle turned heavy, pouring down on them in full force.

Eva’s body was changing; a new ocean blue crystal began to grow near her other green one, indicating she was awakening a new power.

A pained groan escaped her lips as the tattoo absorbed the energy in the air, aiding the completion of her body’s transformation.

Rainwater drenched the desert, yet the sand refused to absorb it, forming streaks across the reddish ground that darkened under the falling rain.

Ethan didn’t care about hurting Foxy and quickly froze it in place. He rushed toward Eva, but before he could reach her, a globe of water ford above her, its surface rippling as it aid directly at him. The mont his hands reached out to her, they shot forward with deadly accuracy.

Ethan sensed danger and instinctively dodged to the side. A sharp whistling sound sliced through the air as the attack rushed past him, its force so intense that the water droplets carved a hole into the flooded ground.

Ethan didn’t hear the sharp sound over the pounding rain, but he subconsciously sensed he had just escaped death.

But his hands didn’t stop reaching for her; he urgently needed to find out if she was okay. This ti, Ethan was lucky, and Eva’s second crystal had fully grown, and her body was returning to normal.

He gently carried her in his arms and quickly retrieved a dry coat from his ring to cover her. His hand brushed over her body to check for injuries, and he was relieved when he found none.

Thankfully, the heavy rain had softened into a drizzle, and though Eva’s face was still pale, a faint, healthy flush was beginning to return.

"Is she okay? How is she?" Aaron asked, his tone filled with worry and fear that sothing bad might have happened to her.

"She’s okay, but she looked like she had overdrawn her powers," Ethan responded, assuming it was what she was currently going through.

"That’s a relief. Here, feed her this potion." Aaron took a vial from his ring, the blue energy-boost potion swirling gently inside.

Ethan took the potion and gently fed it to Eva while ntally preparing to stock up more of these potions when he returned to her space.

Eva’s eyes fluttered, showing signs of waking. The first thing she saw was blurry figures looking down at her, and the air around her carried the scent of rain and damp earth.

Her mind remained fuzzy, and she looked straight ahead with a dazed expression.

"Eva, are you okay?" Ethan called softly and got a confused hum in reply.

Aaron and Ethan exchanged a worried glance as they looked down at Eva, who remained dazed and confused. She felt as if clouds were dancing before her eyes, the figures above her splitting into four—like the dizzy blur of being drunk.

Eva had absorbed too much energy, and this was the aftermath; she was like a heavily intoxicated person who couldn’t tell her right from her left.

Her head throbbed from the strain of seeing blurred figures, and she closed her eyes—this ti, falling asleep without suspense.

Ethan and Aaron were at a loss for what to make of her condition, and Ethan could only make sure she was changed into dry clothes so she wouldn’t catch a cold.

Foxy, on the other hand, had broken free from Ethan’s ice, its tense stance easing as it sensed that its master was no longer in danger.
