Now reading: Chapter 1104: Do You Know Why Richard Shaw Wants to Marry Yo from the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart, a Romance novel by Smoky and desolate.

After Richard Shaw returned, he took care of Crystal Landon’s affairs personally and didn’t go to the Military District, instead staying at ho to take care of her ticulously.

The old lady, who used to have a lot of resentnt towards her grandson, was sowhat relieved to see him becoming more mindful after being away for over half a year. Her grandson caring about his wife was a good thing.

As the due date approached, Crystal felt inexplicably anxious and still couldn’t sleep at night, waking up almost every hour.

Seeing this, Richard got up and said softly, "Can’t sleep?"

Because of the pregnancy, at night the man didn’t dare hold her while sleeping. Seeing her in such discomfort, he hardly slept these past two days either.

Crystal noticed he was awake and sat up against the bed, saying softly, "Hold to the balcony."

Ever since she got pregnant, she really liked wide open spaces outside. When she couldn’t sleep at night, she would sit on the balcony looking at the distant starry sky.

Richard turned on the balcony light and then carried her to the sofa chair on the balcony.

"Were you unable to sleep like this at night while I was away?" he asked in a low voice, noticing that despite her taking all kinds of supplents daily, she still hadn’t gained weight; her chin was still sharp.

Crystal looked at his slightly softer handso, cold, firm face, leaned back in the chair, and said softly, "It’s okay."

For more than half a year, she had been sleeping poorly, almost always insomnia for three or four days, then a deep sleep, and most often awakening from nightmares. In her dreams, there were either endless wars with him resolutely leaving her, or him coldly and distantly protecting Luna, saying, "Crystal, I’ve found true love; let’s get divorced."

Every ti she woke up, her chest felt terribly tight.

These days, although he took care of her with utmost attention, it still felt like there was sothing between them, no matter how close they got, a sense of powerlessness lingered in her heart.

"I’ve thought of a na for the child: Casimir Shaw. With the ’water radical’ as a component, I hope he grows up to be a gentle and cheerful child." Not as cold and ruthless as you. She slightly closed her eyes, leaving the latter half of the sentence unsaid.

"Okay," he responded in a low voice, without any objection.

Seeing him like this, Crystal lost the desire to speak further, saying blandly, "Don’t stay around all day. When you’re not here, I’m also doing fine alone. It makes feel suffocated having you follow like this."

Richard’s body slightly tensed; his throat a bit dry, he said heavily, "Then I’ll go to the Military District tomorrow."

"Hmm." She closed her eyes and ignored him, not sure if it was the comfortable night breeze or the fatigue from lack of sleep in recent days. Before long, she fell asleep.

Once Richard saw she was sound asleep, he got up and carried her to the bed, noticing her phone lighting up on the dressing table.

With no expression on his cold, stern face, he picked up her phone, recalling the password she had entered before, typed in a few numbers, and saw that Hawk Howard had sent a ssage: "I heard Richard Shaw is back? If you don’t want to see him, go stay at the hospital for delivery tomorrow."

His rough fingers scrolled up, checking their chat history, his expression slightly gloomy. Hawk ssaged almost every day, covering everything from daily life to her mood. Crystal also spoke to him without reservations, even calling him Mr. Howard playfully while sending various cute emoticons.

Richard’s fingers pressed slightly harder, and without thinking too much, he typed a line: "This is Richard Shaw."

The other side remained silent for several seconds before sending a ssage: "Once she has the child, let her go. You can’t give her the happiness she wants."

The man directly deleted the chat, tossed the phone aside, and went out with a heavy heart to smoke a cigarette. After washing up to remove the sll of smoke, he returned to bed and spent the night haphazardly dealing with things.

Crystal slept soundly through the night, feeling refreshed when she woke up in the morning, having been kicked several tis by the baby in her belly. Thinking the due date was near, and the child being this lively, often making its presence known, she ntioned to the old lady about going to the hospital to prepare for delivery.

The old lady naturally had no objections and quickly had Aunt Zhao send the necessary items to the hospital, then asked Richard to take her to the hospital.

The man drove her to the hospital for delivery, noticed Crystal talking to Aunt Zhao without looking much at him, and with a slightly darkened face, went to the Military District to write a summary report on peacekeeping, only instructing Eamon Turner to ensure the hospital’s security was tight.

This ti in the Middle East, his actions were significant. Although he had established prestige and boosted national prestige, he also attracted hatred, with several Base Organization mbers threatening revenge.

Crystal stayed in the exclusive suite for leader’s family mbers, serene and quiet, more like a Holiday Village than a hospital. There weren’t many residents, and no family status was higher than an Army Major General’s, so even knowing she was waiting for delivery, no one dared to disturb.

Eamon ensured the personnel deploynt was in place, inford each of the other expecting families, then stood in the corridor gazing at the surrounding buildings outside, squinting slightly. First Hospital was located in a busy area, enabling quick concealnt in the crowds if anything happened. Uncle Hao had already reached the Imperial City and was lying low, and he could likely guess their plan: once the child turned one month old, with madam out of confinent, they would move to the Golden Triangle.

Once madam left, he too would disappear completely from the Imperial City.

Crystal, arriving in a strange place, habitually observed the terrain, looking for safe escape routes. This habit developed following Uncle Hao. After sitting in the room for a while, she couldn’t focus on reading and called Eamon.

Eamon ca in, asking quietly, "Madam, do you need anything?"

"Accompany for a walk to check out the surrounding environnt," she said, standing up, only taking her phone, and accompanied by Eamon downstairs.

The environnt in the small garden downstairs was serene. Two pregnant won were chatting, and seeing Crystal with her big belly, followed by a man exuding a formidable presence, they thought about how this place had been under strict control since morning. Not knowing her identity, just guessing she was soone important, they avoided her.

"Madam, rest assured, this area is under strict control and absolutely safe," Eamon said in a low voice as they walked a lap around.

Crystal nodded, having roughly grasped the surroundings, pointed at a bench in the garden, and said, "Let’s go sit down. Chat with for a bit."

She sat down, and as soon as she did, her phone lit up. Pearl Landon, who had been absent for a long ti, sent her a ssage with just one sentence: "Crystal, you were fostered at my house for over a decade; don’t you want to know your background, or why Richard Shaw insisted on marrying you?"

Crystal froze, her beautiful almond eyes narrowing as she stared at her phone without moving. Since breaking off ties with the Landon Family, she had thought about her background but the old lady didn’t want to talk about it, and she didn’t intend to delve into it either. Did Pearl know sothing?
