the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart Chapter 1111: Leah, I’m Your Brother—I’ve Come to Take You H
After Richard Shaw returned to the Military District, he remained sowhat unsettled. For so reason, the late September weather carried a chilling coldness that penetrated the heart.
What lingered in the man’s mind was her cold little face, telling him to get out.
In all his life, she was the only one who dared to throw a tantrum and tell him to leave.
Richard Shaw glanced at the ti, waiting sowhat numbly for nightfall so he could rightly go and watch over her. This ti, even if she told him to leave, he wouldn’t. Ever since Chinese New Year’s Eve, they hardly spent any ti together, and when they did et, it was almost always a cold war or an argunt.
He clearly didn’t want to have a cold war with her; he clearly wanted to hold her and live a good life together. Richard Shaw thought about what happened on Chinese New Year’s Eve, his tea-colored eyes deepening slightly. Two years ago, after he married Crystal Landon, he made it clear to Luna Lawrence that he was married and would cover her tuition and living expenses until she graduated from university.
Luna nodded in agreent, saying she would treat him as an older brother from then on.
Trusting her reasonableness, he believed her, focusing all his thoughts on his career, but in the end, he realized he was wrong. He shouldn’t have given Luna hope.
The man stood up, looking at the twilight outside, picked up his car keys, and was about to leave when his phone lit up with a ssage from Luna Lawrence. It was just two short sentences: "Brother Richard, I will never trouble you again. Soone like should not be in this world."
Richard Shaw’s face slightly darkened, his eyes turning sharp. He checked the ti; might as well go and clear things up face-to-face so nothing remains unclear in the future.
The man drove directly to the community where Luna lived. Feeling a bit uneasy, he called Aunt Zhao and asked in a low voice, "Did Crystal eat dinner yet?"
"Madam was in a bad mood today and only drank a little soup. She couldn’t eat much," Aunt Zhao almost ntioned that Pearl ca in the afternoon and upset Madam, but she held back after thinking it over. Pearl’s last words were too hurtful; ultimately, it was the Young Master’s fault. If he hadn’t been so nice to that country girl, Pearl wouldn’t have said things to hurt the Young Madam.
Upon hearing this, Richard Shaw’s handso face darkened slightly, and he spoke in a low voice, "Has Crystal gone to sleep?"
"Yes, she’s asleep." Aunt Zhao said.
"Alright, I’ll co later and bring so food." Richard Shaw said in a low voice before hanging up the phone. He racked his brains trying to gather all her favorite foods, intending to buy them before going to the hospital.
Aunt Zhao, knowing the Young Master would co in the evening, finally breathed a sigh of relief. As she hung up the phone, she turned to see Eamon Turner standing behind her, startling her.
"Aunt Zhao, I rember Madam ntioned she wanted so white porridge and pickled sour beans this afternoon. Does the Shaw Family have any? If so, please bring so over; it’ll be perfect for when Madam wakes up tonight." Eamon said calmly.
"Yes, yes, I’ll go get them. You must be vigilant and not let anyone in, especially won." Aunt Zhao instructed, then hurriedly called the driver to return to the Shaw Family.
"Okay." Eamon nodded, glanced at the darkening sky outside, and waited quietly in the corridor until two n, one tall and one short, wearing white doctor’s coats approached.
Eamon’s body suddenly tensed, his hand unconsciously pressing against his waist where his gun was.
"Eamon, it’s and the Young Master." Uncle Hao said in a low voice, taking out Cornelius Turner’s token.
Eamon looked at the token in his hand, checked the tracking red dot on the communication equipnt to verify their identity, and then said in a low voice, "The Major General will be at the hospital in an hour. You don’t have much ti, so be brief."
Eamon raised his eyes to look at Griffith Squire, who wore a mask, only his eyes showing a hint of humor yet concealing all hostility. He recalled many years ago, when he and his brother had their legs broken and were starving to death, this young man, about the sa age as Cornelius, approached them full of murderous intent and said, "I can save one of you, in exchange for your most valuable possession."
He and Cornelius had depended on each other since childhood. Cornelius exchanged his life for Eamon’s life, and Eamon exchanged his life for his brother’s. Thus, Griffith saved both of them, gaining the lives of the two brothers.
Back then, they thought it was just getting a life back and continuing to live with difficulty. But Griffith told them they not only had to live but also live better than anyone else, stepping on all those who had once humiliated them.
Over a dozen years passed, and they truly crawled out of that hellish place, step by step, reaching the bustling and lively Imperial City, finally mastering their own destiny.
Crystal had not slept. After Pearl left, she felt a constant sense of palpitations and discomfort, unable to sleep, her head aching as if sothing were trying to erge from her mind.
Eamon lightly knocked on the door outside, speaking softly, "Madam, he’s arrived."
The door was pushed open, and Crystal sat on the sofa without moving, watching the tall and slender man walk in, remove his mask, revealing a handso yet mischievous face.
The man approached her, crouched down slightly, his eyes showing a slight curve, revealing a smile, and said gently, "When you were eight, I ca to the Imperial City to see you, Leah, do you rember?"
He spoke unhurriedly, his voice gentle, like an old friend. Even though he restrained his fierce aura, Crystal could still sll the scent of blood on him, whether it was soone else’s or from a wound he carried.
Tears imdiately welled up in her eyes, and she said hoarsely, "Be clearer; I can’t quite rember."
"At that ti, you only reached my thigh, had neatly cut bangs, and took small steps following behind Richard Shaw, calling ’Little Richard Brother.’" Griffith Squire smiled. Back then, he was covered in wounds and could only watch her from afar, wanting to see if she was doing well. Over a dozen years had passed, and he finally stepped forward in front of her.
"Leah, I’m your brother." He smiled, his beautiful eyes slightly reddened, his voice carrying a slight tremor as he reached out to hold her hand, saying word by word, "I’ve co to take you ho."
Crystal could not say a word, tears streaming down her face. Although she was eting this man for the first ti, though he had no evidence, though he hadn’t even ntioned who their parents were, when he said he ca to take her ho, she couldn’t control her emotions, her eyes filling with tears.
It turned out she had a brother. Her brother had a pair of eyes just like hers, peach blossom eyes. He said he ca to take her ho.
She childishly wiped her tears with the back of her hand, choked up as she said, "All these years, why didn’t you co to see ?"
"I’m sorry," Griffith Squire apologized in a low voice, his handso yet mischievous face showing a warm smile, speaking hoarsely, "If I had known you missed so much, I would have co to take you ho sooner."
