Leah slightly lowered her eyes, avoiding his touch, and took a sip of milk to hide her feelings. In the quiet deep night, neither of them spoke, sitting silently for a while until the milk in the cup gradually cooled.

Richard Shaw turned on the heating, making the room comfortably warm.

Leah placed her foot on the blanket, her long eyelashes drooping down. She had countless questions she wanted to ask him, feeling that over the years, she hadn’t completely understood Richard Shaw. What she had seen all along was what he wanted to show her.

"Will you be very busy when you return to the Military District?" Leah looked at him, still reading docunts late at night, and asked lightly.

"Not too bad." Richard Shaw saw that she didn’t imdiately return to her room and couldn’t bear to urge her to go to sleep; it had been a long ti since they were able to sit peacefully and alone together like this.

"I’ve always been handling so affairs for the Military District, so going back won’t be too busy," the man explained.

"How did we use to interact?" Leah saw that he was still so taciturn, unable to even find a topic, let alone know how to chat and make people happy. She sighed; she must have found this man very boring before.

"You decided on everything, large and small. If I disagreed, you would act spoiled," the man said, looking deeply at her with tea-colored eyes. He knew this rare opportunity called for confessions and revealing his inner feelings accumulated over the years, but when emotions ran deep, a few words wouldn’t suffice.

He would give her everything he possessed.

Leah was truly surprised to learn she once acted spoiled towards him. Is youthful innocence indeed fleeting? Now, she only acts spoiled with Delphine.

"What if I fell in love with soone else?" Leah assud.

Richard Shaw’s face suddenly turned sowhat pale, a dark light flashed in his eyes, and he asked deeply: "Did you fall for Hawk Howard?"

The man pressed his thin lips together, his fingers tracing deeply over the fabric sofa, suddenly overtaken by a dark emotion: how could she fall for soone else?

Leah was startled by his expression, narrowing her beautiful almond eyes slightly and coldly retorting: "What, so you are allowed to have a past love, but I can’t like soone else?"

The issue of the past love isn’t that easily settled.

"I heard you were still taking care of your past love?" Leah sneered, "Should we discuss this matter properly?"

Richard Shaw reached out and captured her wrist, speaking deeply: "I’ve loved you since childhood, but after my father passed away and my mother sacrificed herself in a rescue operation, I later learned she had suicidal thoughts. At that ti, I was still young, filled with grief and panic, and dared not touch on feelings, thus restraining my feelings for you, spending years at the Military District and avoiding the Imperial City."

"Even my grandmother doesn’t know about my mother’s matter. It’s been my knot all these years. Until you had an accident, I began to slowly realize. As for the ’past love’ you ntioned, I never liked her. Her brother saved once, and I took care of her out of gratitude." Richard Shaw’s voice turned dry as he spoke, "Leah, you can doubt anything but never my feelings for you."

Leah was sowhat shocked upon hearing this. His mother actually died for love? That must have been such a heavy blow for a young Richard Shaw, no wonder he turned into soone so wooden. Despite being a son of a prominent family in the Imperial City, there was a kind of repressed stiffness about him.

He dared not touch on feelings at all.

Richard Shaw noticed her expression of shock and remained silent, feeling very uneasy internally, and restrainedly said: "Hawk Howard is a good man but more suited as a friend. We are ant to be lovers, partners, and we were partners after all, Leah. Whatever you wish, I will accomplish for you."

Leah noticed his palms were slightly sweaty from tension, thinking that this man was inherently honest and straightforward, never one to be slick-tongued or say nice things. The fact he could speak so much tonight was unprecedented, and all his feelings and dark emotions were vividly expressed in that diary of his.

With this in mind, Leah softened up a little, saying: "I can’t rember past things, our being partners cannot be counted. You mustn’t hide things from anymore, and no dealing with Griffith Squire; only with his agreent can we be together."

Removing other aspects, the two had been together for three years, cohabiting for nearly a year, originally being in a relationship. Richard Shaw mostly accommodated her. If not for the Griffith Squire issue, their fight would have ended in reconciliation.

Richard Shaw was stunned for a mont and then tightly pressed her into his embrace, listening to her complaining, spoiled voice. His heart was hot, difficult to vent, and he found her lips, giving her a deep kiss, asking hoarsely as he kissed: "Leah, you do like , don’t you? You say you like Hawk Howard, is it to rile up?"

After speaking, he continued to deeply kiss her, not giving her a chance to speak. His strong arms tightly trapped her, the emotions within him stirred; she was his, his alone.

Leah was kissed until her whole body turned soft, angrily glaring at him with charming almond eyes. He, having a military background, her little skill couldn’t match up to Richard Shaw, trapped in his embrace unable to move. Being teased like this, she felt both embarrassed and angry.

How did a simple conversation end up with kissing?

"Let go, I’m going to sleep." She snorted coldly, "You should properly take care of Grandma."

Richard Shaw saw her big black-and-white eyes glaring at him, feeling his heart soften under her gaze. However, thinking of his own record, he dared not object, saying hoarsely: "Then I’ll accompany you to rest."

Leah snorted coldly, trying to find her shoes, only for the man to suddenly pick her up, speaking in a low voice: "No need to find shoes, I can walk now, I’ll carry you to the room."

Saying this, he carried her toward the bedroom on the second floor.

Leah was held steadily by him, not daring to make noise to avoid disturbing others. Trying to get down herself, she couldn’t budge the man’s iron arms, and suddenly reached out and pinched his arm hard, only to find the man’s muscles as hard as iron, resulting in her hand hurting.

Richard Shaw smiled slightly, saying in a low voice: "Don’t pinch, your hand will hurt."

Leah was both embarrassed and angry, opting to look away from him. Once they entered the room, she struggled to get down, quickly shut the door, and lay on the bed, tossing and turning unable to sleep. In the end, not knowing when she fell asleep, her dreams were filled with strange and varied scenes. She was walking alone on a cliff, seeing Richard Shaw suddenly appear in the distance. Happy, she hurried forward to catch up, only for Griffith Squire to suddenly appear and grab her, saying: "Leah, don’t go, there’s no road that way."

"How can there be no road?" She laughed dismissively, shaking off Griffith Squire’s hand, pursuing Richard Shaw, but then her body fell, plumting into an abyss beyond redemption.
