Now reading: Chapter 233: We Will Have Children, Afu from the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart, a Romance novel by Smoky and desolate.

Stone Leclair’s face turned ashen with fury. He had originally brought people back to serve as witnesses, yet he ended up being suppressed by a cripple sitting in a wheelchair, not to ntion the useless trash from the Wade Family.

More than a dozen n of enigmatic origins stood like mountains in the courtyard, forcefully breaking through the deadlock. With one hand, they hurled three coffins out of the Leclair Family’s courtyard.

The mbers of the Wade Family were also miserably thrown out of the Leclair residence.

The middle-aged n from the Imperial City, sensing the unfavorable situation, ignored the livid expression on Stone Leclair’s face. Smiling amiably, they approached the man in the wheelchair, whose aura was as imposing as a mountain, and said, "Major General Shaw, we still have urgent matters to attend to today, so we must take our leave. Please convey our regards to the old madam."

Richard Shaw nodded slightly, and the group hurriedly left the Leclair residence, got into their cars, and drove off without looking back.

"I’ll be staying in the South Seas for a while." Richard Shaw nodded toward Ignatius Leclair, then left the Leclair residence under the escort of his subordinates.

What a farce. Exhausting to the core.

Ignatius Leclair’s expression darkened coldly as he glanced at the elderly butler coming down the stairs.

"Miss Delphine is in the conservatory," the elderly butler sighed faintly.

Without sparing a glance at the utterly defeated Stone Leclair, Ignatius headed upstairs. He stopped outside the conservatory, his handso features shadowed by a faint pain.

Delphine sat on a wooden bench in the sky garden. In the late autumn season, the vibrant blooms had long withered. She absently caressed the bench beneath her; the wood, weathered by sun and rain, bore mottled marks of decay.

Ignatius walked over and tightly embraced her from behind, burying his face against her shoulder. His arms were so strong that it felt as if he wanted to break her waist.

Delphine said nothing, only feeling an exhaustion that seed to seep from her very bones.

"Is that child still alive?" His voice was hoarse, heavy, and suppressed.

Delphine’s slim fra gave a slight tremor. After a long pause, she replied coolly and evenly, "I lied to them. There was no child."

She closed her eyes slightly, darkness closing in from all directions, accompanied by the sound of a baby’s cries. At that ti, she hadn’t yet known she was with child. When the opposing forces learned where Leah was staying, they sent people to assassinate them. By then, Leah had just regained consciousness and was teetering on the brink of organ failure. Delphine carried Leah on her back as they hid, traversing two kiloters of mountain trails. By the ti Griffith Squire found them, the child was already gone.

Since then, in the dead of night, she often dreamt of that child. The child would sit obediently by her side, his tiny hand tightly clutching her pinky finger, silent and unmoving.

Ignatius’s breathing grew heavier. The long, narrow fox-like eyes slightly narrowed, a gleam of ruthless intent flashing in their depths. After so ti, he finally spoke, his voice low and raspy: "We will have a child, Delphine."

Delphine’s thin lips moved slightly. A stinging sensation crept to the corners of her eyes, her body as stiff as stone. She murmured a soft acknowledgnt.

Ignatius gathered her into his arms, his large hands stroking her soft hair. He said in a deep voice, "I promise, nothing like today will ever happen again."

Ignatius Leclair had never taken these sches and conspiracies aid at him seriously. Just earlier, when Delphine’s slim and fragile figure stepped forward before everyone and declared she couldn’t bear children, he wanted nothing more than to rush over, hold her, and shield this delicate girl under his wings, where no one could ever harm her.

Delphine said nothing. The past five years had been far more grueling, and an afternoon spectacle like the one orchestrated by the Wade Family couldn’t scare her. Today, she also understood one thing: as long as she remained with Ignatius Leclair, Stone Leclair’s targeting of her would never cease.

The father and son had long been at each other’s throats.

"Why are you going after your father?" she asked softly.

Ignatius’s gaze deepened as he replied coldly, "Because he was the reason my mother passed away."
