the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart Chapter 25: The Film Emperor’s Fan Club Tears Her to Shreds
Delphine perford incredibly well, delivering a soul-stirring portrayal in her final request for seven days of fleeting happiness before her demise. The despair trapped in her brows, her fervent pursuit of love, and her silent resignation were all masterfully embodied.
Tristan had exceptionally high standards, but after painstakingly filming three takes, he was finally satisfied and approved the scene.
By the ti filming wrapped up, it was already close to dusk. Aside from a few supplental shots, Delphine’s role as Green Pearl should be completed within three to five days.
After her scenes were done, Delphine quickly removed her makeup and left the film set.
Having spent the whole day imrsed in the character of Green Pearl, her emotions were still sowhat steeped in the role. Her expression appeared even more distant and indifferent as she stepped outside. Looking at the towering skyscrapers and bustling traffic, she froze montarily. This dazzling, chaotic South Asian cityscape almost felt like a place that could only exist in dreams.
"Delphine Carter—" A black nanny van pulled up, and its door slid open to reveal Charles Taylor’s mature and handso face peeking out. He smiled and said, "Where are you headed? I can drop you off."
Delphine paused briefly. Her role in the production was that of a supporting actress—an outsider parachuted into the cast, which had inevitably earned her so resentnt. Coupled with her reserved and aloof deanor, aside from the scenes she shot, she was barely familiar with anyone in the crew. She hadn’t exchanged any words with Charles Taylor outside of their shared scenes.
"No, thank you. I have a friend picking up," she instinctively declined. Charles Taylor was an award-winning actor with an enormous and fanatical fan base.
A relatively obscure model like her, if spotted sitting with such a celebrity heartthrob, would likely be torn apart by his fans. While she didn’t fear backlash, it was a hassle she’d rather avoid.
"Alright, then." Charles didn’t press the matter. He handed her a small piece of paper and smiled. "Here’s my number. If you ever need anything, just let know. By the way, I noticed you don’t have a Weibo account. Did your agent not set one up for you?"
Delphine accepted Charles’ number without a word. As an artist who had stumbled into the industry halfway, she didn’t even use QQ or WeChat, let alone Weibo. Her agent, Jason, had proposed setting up profiles for her, but she had refused.
She simply didn’t enjoy the feeling of being watched.
Being keenly aware of his public image, Charles waved goodbye before quickly driving off.
Delphine casually slipped the piece of paper with his number into her bag, then went to a mall to change into the black cocktail dress she had brought along before hailing a cab to the Yeager Family estate in the eastern part of the city.
Mrs. Carter’s driver had called earlier to confirm her arrival, but there had been no further contact since.
When Delphine reached the Yeager Family villa, she realized that quite a few guests had co for the occasion.
Premium luxury cars lined up in two incredibly long rows, stretching out from the entrance to the villa.
Delphine had never visited the Yeager Family estate before. Though Mrs. Carter had taken her to live in the Lyeth Mansion, she had always been wary of Delphine’s illegitimate daughter status being discovered by others. As a result, Delphine had never attended events of this nature during those years.
Delphine texted the driver her location and then waited quietly outside the villa.
She hadn’t stood there for more than a few minutes when a slightly thrilled and hurried voice called out, "Delphine, you’re here?"
Jocelyn Yeager approached, dressed in a sharply tailored, immaculate suit. His face carried a warm smile, and he appeared even more refined and charming than usual. He hurried over, with his assistant trailing behind in half-running steps.
The assistant’s probing gaze swept over her briefly before shifting back to Jocelyn to report on the progress of the evening banquet.
"Third Young Master," she murmured in mild surprise, offering a polite smile.
"Co, let take you inside," Jocelyn said in a gentle tone, a joy he couldn’t entirely conceal gleaming in his eyes.
Delphine felt a faint stir in her heart. She was already accustod to being overlooked and left waiting. Jocelyn Yeager was the first person since her return to the city to attempt treating her as an equal.
"Alright," she replied, her voice raspy and soft as she nodded lightly.
Today was the birthday banquet for the Yeager Family matriarch. It was an event ticulously organized by Jocelyn. As they made their way inside, Jocelyn juggled constant phone calls and arrangents for various tasks. He smiled apologetically at her.
"Third Young Master, please don’t worry about . I’m just here to wait for my aunt," she said after entering the villa. However, more and more eyes fell on her as she followed Jocelyn, and Delphine found the attention rather uncomfortable.
"Alright. If anything cos up, just co find ." Jocelyn nodded. His gaze lingered on Delphine in her black cocktail dress—her porcelain-smooth skin, ticulously sculpted features, and even a faint air of detachnt and reticence in her smile. For a second, he hesitated before ultimately instructing the assistant to keep an eye on her.
