Ignatius Leclair let out a derisive laugh; this one really has the heart to let his son endure hardship with him.

Richard Shaw doesn’t return to the Shaw Mansion simply because he doesn’t want to be reminded of old mories.

If he knew that Crystal Landon not only survived but transford into the sister of the Golden Triangle warlord, a frequent na on the bounty lists of the black market, with enemies everywhere, could he still sit here so calmly brewing tea?

"Say it. What happened this ti for you to suddenly rush to the Imperial City overnight?" Richard Shaw raised his eyes, a flash of wisdom gleaming in them.

Ignatius Leclair fell silent for a mont before speaking after a pause, "Richard, I won’t be able to have children anymore."

"Are you sick?" Richard’s first reaction was infertility?

Ignatius gave him a cold glare and said, "Delphine had a miscarriage; she can’t conceive."

He himself has severe ntal cleanliness; having one woman is already fortunate. If Delphine can’t have children, it’s unlikely he will ever have kids.

Luckily, the Leclair Family still has Isaac Leclair on the main branch, so they won’t face extinction.

Richard Shaw’s lips curled into a smile as he calmly said, "You’re serious."

Being friends for nearly thirty years, he never expected the South Asian playboy who championed singlehood and cared little for won to have a mont of fleeing to the Imperial City in the dead of night.

Ignatius, seeing his teasing expression, instantly darkened his face, narrowing his phoenix eyes and sneering, "Major General Shaw’s fad tenderness is known throughout the entire Imperial City. Do you even have the qualifications to mock ? Ha."

Richard Shaw, stung by the sharp retort, sighed helplessly. This guy has been stubborn since childhood, becoming more and more infuriating every day.

"Modern technology is so advanced. Miss Delphine’s infertility due to her previous miscarriage isn’t the end of the world. With the Leclair Family’s resources, setting up an empire of dical research isn’t a big deal. If you want kids, you’ll find a way. But," Richard Shaw said with a languid smile, "I’m not sure she’d agree to have children with you."

When they first t in South Asia, the woman’s temperant was exceptionally aloof and indifferent. Coupled with what he’d heard about the events there, Ignatius’s road to love was indeed riddled with challenges.

"That’s not your concern. I’m here on business in the Imperial City and conveniently dropped by to drink with you," Ignatius replied coldly, his handso face bearing a hint of unkempt distress.

Richard Shaw nodded in understanding, not exposing the lie. He rely smiled faintly. On such a festive occasion, claiming to visit the Howard Family’s matriarch would be believable, but chances are "business" wasn’t the reason; the real purpose was likely drowning his sorrows in alcohol.

Oh well, for soone as flawless and composed as him since childhood, having sothing to drink over wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Richard looked up and saw Casimir Shaw, freshly brushed and sprinting into the room, his eyes lighting up at the sight of steaming hot rice cakes. His beautiful peach blossom eyes shone like they were filled with the brightest stars.

The man’s smile faded slightly. He rembered that when Casimir was born, she no longer wished to see him, only giving the child the na Casimir, saying the character for "Ze" belonged to the water elent in taphysics, nourishing all things. He would grow up to be a refined gentleman, unlike him, soone cold and rciless.

Later, he strove to recall everything she ever said, walked the roads she walked, did the things she loved, pretending all these years that she’d never left.

"Uncle Richard, can I share the rice cakes with Uncle Ignatius?" Casimir Shaw asked, staring at the rice cakes longingly, drooling yet still restrained, rembering to ingratiate himself with Uncle Ignatius. He was determined to beco the lovable Casimir Shaw—the kind of child who could make Mommy regret leaving him and Richard.
