Now reading: Chapter 393: Richard Shaw, You Actually Dared to Shoot at He from the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart, a Romance novel by Smoky and desolate.

That year, Leah was six years old. With thick, crisp bangs and bright, innocent almond-shaped eyes, she chased behind Richard Shaw on her tiny legs, calling out in a soft, sweet voice, "Brother Richard, Brother Richard."

During his youth, Richard Shaw was truly a shining star, a scion of a prestigious family. His figure was tall and slender, like a bamboo stalk, his brows and eyes radiating nobility. But he impatiently waved off the little shadow trailing him, darting away and leaving her far behind.

The little Leah stood there with tears welling up in her eyes, pouting dejectedly as she played alone with a snow-white kitten.

That was the first ti he t his sister. He walked up to Leah, and the tiny girl said sweetly in her soft voice, "Big Brother, you’re so pretty."

At that ti, she was fostered in the Lewis Family and still thought of her adoptive parents as her biological ones. The mbers of the Lewis Family soon took her away, quietly admonishing her, "You mustn’t talk to strangers."

"But Big Brother is a good person, and he’s really handso," the little girl turned back and gave him a sweet smile.

Griffith Squire raised his gaze to look at Richard Shaw in the wheelchair. Back then during their first eting, one was a noble young master, while the other was a fugitive in a world full of bloodshed and chaos—a cloud high in the heavens versus mud deep in the earth. Griffith had crawled out from piles of corpses just for the chance to travel to the Imperial City and et his sister, while Richard was born into a life where everything was handed to him.

"When I was younger, I had the privilege of eting Major General Shaw once. Since then, I’ve always regarded you as my goal," Griffith said with a faint smile. A crimson flash flickered in his eyes, reflecting twenty years of storms, a world transford and unrecognizable. Yet even Richard Shaw had to confront this day.

The Buddha Beads in Richard Shaw’s hand spun faster and faster as he spoke calmly, "I am rely a crippled ordinary man now. If it weren’t for Mr. Squire sending people to investigate my wife’s ancestral origins, I wouldn’t have made this trip. If you have no explanation today, I’ll have no choice but to ask Mr. Squire to return to the Golden Triangle."

That was Richard Shaw’s true purpose for coming here—to expel the Squire siblings from Southeast Asia. This was sothing Ignatius Leclair had been striving to achieve all along.

Griffith raised an eyebrow, leisurely pulling a bottle of red wine from the cabinet. The rich aroma of the wine filled his glass, dispersing into the room with a cold elegance. With a mocking smile, he said, "And what if I don’t leave? Ignatius Leclair couldn’t accomplish it, and you, Major General Shaw, coming all the way from the Imperial City, think you can force out of Southeast Asia?"

Richard Shaw, unhurried, replied, "It’s said that the Squire siblings have a deep bond. It depends on how you decide."

The man tossed him a receiver connected to live satellite transmission. On the display, Leah’s red Ferrari was blocked at the port, its car body riddled with bullet holes—a clear sign of a prior skirmish.

Griffith’s expression darkened as he crushed the receiver in his hands. Waves of violent anger surged through him, and he threw a punch at Richard Shaw in his wheelchair, growling fiercely, "Richard Shaw, how dare you fire at her!"

Richard Shaw remained calm, tilting his head to avoid the blow.

The loyal subordinates guarding outside rushed in upon hearing the commotion. In an instant, dark gun barrels faced each other in the room, the tension thick and divided. At that mont, Ignatius Leclair’s call ca through.

Unbeknownst to anyone, the building’s communication devices had been restored.

Ignatius Leclair’s cold, low voice resonated from the phone. "The fish in the pond have already torn through the net. Stop fishing. Co back."

Richard Shaw glanced at the black barrels surrounding him and said faintly, "The shark escaped from the net, but at least we caught a beauty shark."

Griffith’s posture scread of a do-or-die resolution. This matter would not end peacefully.
