Now reading: Chapter 453: Why do you keep lingering like a bad spirit? from the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart, a Romance novel by Smoky and desolate.

Delphine never once looked at Ignatius Leclair; this child ca at the wrong ti, and it happened to be discovered by Ignatius. She didn’t even have ti to prepare.

The Leclair Family placed imnse importance on offspring and would never allow a child to be left outside their circle. If she tried to leave now, it would undoubtedly lead to a fierce battle. Thinking about this man’s cold ruthlessness and his manipulative tactics, Delphine’s face involuntarily turned pale.

The other n noticed her poor complexion and didn’t dare disturb her; they all left the hospital room.

"Uncle Cloud, we need to discuss this matter," Desmond Wood’s babyish face rarely showed a trace of solemnity. The Wood Family also placed significant importance on heirs—especially since Delphine carried the Yellow Jade Seal, giving her an unusual status within the clan. If the elders back in the family discovered this, it would surely cause an uproar.

An unwed mother bearing a child with an outsider? The radicals would undoubtedly seize the chance to sha them.

Years ago, Aunt Ruo had fled the family, likely without revealing her identity to Yunji. Even Desmond felt this situation was a delicate one. Certain truths inevitably needed to be disclosed to this father and daughter.

Uncle Cloud left with Desmond. Standing outside the hospital room, Ignatius Leclair’s chiseled, severe face showed a mix of disbelief and confusion. Leclair’s thought process was likely different from most people’s; upon learning of Delphine’s pregnancy, his first reaction was that she wanted to cut ties with him completely—dream on. Only afterward did the complicated feelings of becoming a father take root.

After the initial shock and tension, his thoughts turned to Delphine’s health, dampening his initial excitent about the child.

"Mr. Leclair, this entire floor has been cleared; no one will disturb us," Maximilian stepped forward to report, still feeling a bit rattled. If Delphine had lost the baby, knowing Ignatius’s temperant, it would have been a literal storm of blood. Thinking back, the Cloud Family heiress was undoubtedly lucky.

"Tell Fourth Brother to pack up and co to Nanyang," Ignatius instructed in a low voice, still uneasy.

Fourth Brother, a mber of his think tank, had long been left to his own devices elsewhere. He was a genius doctor—but like most prodigies, he had peculiar quirks: a reclusive nature bordering on antisocial behavior. Still, his dical expertise was internationally renowned. However, Fourth Brother specialized in neurology, which had nothing whatsoever to do with obstetrics.

Maximilian wisely chose not to comnt. Having Fourth Brother co to Nanyang wasn’t a bad idea; it had been years since he’d last seen him.

"Make sure he’s fully disinfected before coming, and tell him not to bring back any germs from the battlefield," Ignatius reminded, his tone sharp. Fourth Brother had a penchant for conducting research in war-torn areas and was committed to sacrificing himself for the advancent of dicine—hence why the family had indulged him for so long.

"I’ll pass on your exact words, sir," Maximilian couldn’t help but laugh. Clearly, Delphine’s pregnancy had improved Ignatius’s mood; he was even showing consideration toward Fourth Brother.

"Don’t let news of Delphine’s pregnancy leak for now," Ignatius instructed gravely. Until the child was born, everything still held uncertainties. With the horde of schers and opportunists surrounding him, caution was essential.

Maximilian nodded with careful deliberation.

The man seed about to issue more instructions when Leah Squire stord into the hospital. In the lobby, one could faintly see a resolute man sitting in a wheelchair, gazing intently in their direction.

Ignatius curled his lips. They couldn’t feel at ease even at the hospital—coming in person for the pick-up, no less. He thought wryly: considering he was still wheelchair-bound, shouldn’t Leah be taking it easy?

Leah approached in a hurry. Upon spotting Ignatius, her cold and beautiful face flashed with impatience, and she sneered, "Why is it that wherever Delphine is, you’re lurking nearby? Can’t seem to shake you off. Where were you years ago?"
