After dinner, Delphine would take a half-hour walk. The surrounding area was a cultural preservation district—not crowded, and the environnt was exceedingly tranquil.

This three-story villa, surrounded by lush trees that created a canopy overhead, was where Ignatius Leclair ca looking for her. Delphine had turned on the light on the porch and was sitting in the sofa chair beneath the flowering trees, reading a book.

The man approached directly and said gravely, "Delphine."

Ignatius Leclair’s expression was unusually serious, his phoenix-shaped eyes dark and deep. Seeing her look up, he spoke in a low tone: "There’s sothing I need you to tell Leah. But when I say it, don’t get too emotional."

Delphine’s face subtly changed. She set down the book, stood up, and asked, "What happened?"

"Griffith Squire’s gone missing in Europe," Ignatius Leclair said, his phoenix eyes locking tightly onto her, as if afraid her emotions would spiral. He reached out to steady her slightly before continuing, "He’s suspected to have been pursued by enemies for vengeance. As of now, his fate is unknown. You’d best notify Leah to head to the Vatican."

"I’ll go with her." Delphine’s face was drained of color. She stood up and prepared to find Leah, but in her rush, almost stumbled over the chair.

Ignatius Leclair’s expression turned ashen. He seized her arm, barely containing his anger, and said, "How can you go when you’re pregnant? Do you not want this child anymore?"

"I can’t leave the South Seas right now. I’ve already entrusted this to Richard. You inform Leah; the rest will be arranged by Richard," Ignatius said lowly, his phoenix eyes dark as ink.

Delphine shivered all over but understood that, given her unstable pregnancy, the child couldn’t endure the strain of long travel.

But how could this happen to Griffith? After experiencing so many storms and bloodshed, how could he fall outside of his holand?

Delphine wanted to grab her phone, but tears uncontrollably rolled down her face. And Leah—how was she going to navigate this?

"Call Leah first," Ignatius urged, handing her the phone and forcing her to calm down.

The call connected, and tears stread down her face, but she couldn’t utter a single word.

Ignatius’s phoenix eyes deepened, and he took the phone, speaking gravely, "Leah, your brother is in trouble."

He succinctly explained the situation and then hung up the phone. Over at the Squire Family household, chaos had already erupted; fortunately, Richard Shaw was handling matters. Ignatius could only focus on the woman in front of him.

Without a word, Ignatius scooped Delphine up and carried her indoors. Seeing her expose her emotions like this for the first ti left him conflicted—part of him sympathized with Griffith’s plight, yet another part felt a fleeting sense of relief for removing a rival. But he knew it wouldn’t be easy for Richard and Leah to navigate this situation.

If Leah eventually discovered that Griffith’s trip to Europe was inadvertently facilitated by Richard, it would likely spark another storm.

Ignatius let out a low sigh. After seven years of tumult, Leah and Richard still hadn’t truly co together. He could only hope that Richard managed to keep this hidden from Leah forever.

Griffith’s mishap had caused unrest on all sides. Delphine was sleepless through the night, and Ignatius, too, didn’t return ho. He sat in the house his mother had ticulously designed, his brows and gaze heavy, as deep as ink.

Soon, Maximilian arrived.

"Major General Shaw and Miss Leah have already departed, and young master Shaw has been sent back to the Imperial City," Maximilian reported quietly, providing the latest update.

Ignatius nodded silently, his phoenix eyes narrowing. As the saying goes, troublemakers endure eternal lives, and Griffith didn’t look like soone destined for a short life. This matter seed particularly unusual.

"Keep an eye on Richard’s situation," Ignatius instructed. If Griffith were to et misfortune, given Richard’s temperant, he would undoubtedly hasten Leah’s return to the Imperial City. And over there, chaos would undoubtedly ensue.
