"Call her and warn her—no news about is allowed to be published from now on," Ignatius Leclair narrowed his phoenix eyes and spoke coldly.

Maximilian instantly felt a headache coming on. Miss Hannah Howard, with her scatterbrained tendencies, likely couldn’t find any real news to report. Instead, she settled on targeting Mr. Leclair, knowing that the buzz around him was endless. She could fabricate whatever story she pleased without consequence, rely earning a scolding from him at best.

"And also, when did she co to Southeast Asia? She’s working as a gossip journalist now? Inform Evelyn Lewis to drag her back imdiately." Ignatius hung up the phone, and the look on Cloudy’s face finally improved. As for Delphine Carter, her expression remained unaffected.

Cloudy noticed the man staring intently at Delphine, as if he had sothing to say. Choosing not to intrude, the dashing middle-aged gentleman turned his attention to the little golden greenfinch he’d recently started raising. The lively bird bounced exuberantly within its cage, entertaining Cloudy, who amused himself by teasing it whenever he had free ti.

Once Cloudy left, Ignatius’s gaze grew even bolder and unrestrained. His eyes fixed on Delphine as he spoke heavily, "It’s one of my young cousins from my maternal grandmother’s family, making bogus reports about to et her deadlines."

"Mm." Delphine responded indifferently with a re sound, without looking at him, as she continued sipping her tea.

The man’s expression suddenly darkened. Reaching out, he seized her arm, his gaze deep and penetrating as he said, "Even if it’s true, does it an nothing to you?"

Feeling the sting from his grip, Delphine lowered her voice and said, "Let go."

"No." Ignatius seed to be twisting the knife, his voice rough and biting. "Delphine Carter, do you even have a heart?"

His handso face appeared shrouded in a heavy twilight, phoenix eyes like deep pools glimring with faint cold light.

Delphine furrowed her brows, finding him increasingly unreasonable. She scoffed coldly, "When I cared, you didn’t. Now that you care, you want everyone in the world to care as well. Ignatius Leclair, you’ve already taken so many things that most people can’t obtain in a lifeti. Why are you still so greedy for control over others’ hearts?"

Ignatius’s face remained austere as he stared at her intently, as though he was eting her for the first ti. Without a word, he withdrew his hand and turned to leave. That night, he didn’t stay to have dinner.

Seeing him storm off, Delphine’s own face grew stormy. She stood, trying to calm herself, her eyes inexplicably damp. He was the one entangled in a scandal, yet sohow, did he expect her to act jealous and throw a tantrum just to satisfy his masculine vanity?

Not even a minute after walking away, Ignatius regretted it. But his pride wouldn’t allow him to turn back.

With a grim expression, the man returned to his place, raked his fingers through his hair in frustration, and summoned the company’s team for a late-night eting.

A wave of lant swept through the group’s elites. Everyone speculated that it was likely the scandal causing trouble and that the boss had been punished by being made to sleep on the floor. After all, this was precisely the sort of heartless behavior Mr. Leclair was capable of—unable to hold his wife, yet not letting his subordinates return ho to theirs either.

The overnight video call session left the entire corporate team erging the next morning pale-faced, legs trembling, and utterly defeated. Even if they managed to go ho, they lacked the energy to reconnect with their spouses. Mr. Leclair had been nothing short of brutal.

The host of the eting, however, was brimming with energy. He had trouble sleeping at night anyway, so he might as well put in extra hours.

After concluding the eting, Ignatius went to take a shower. When he stepped out, the sound of the doorbell being pressed suddenly echoed.

Ignatius, dressed in a robe, opened the door. Standing outside was a woman, and his phoenix eyes narrowed deeply, a shadow falling over them.
