At night, the man indeed didn’t touch her, but his kisses were far from restrained.

Delphine was very annoyed afterward, but once she vented her anger, she let it go. For one thing, Ignatius Leclair was an obsessive man to the point of being pathological, with a strong desire for conquest. Now that he controlled every aspect of her life, it was better for her to be pragmatic. For another, perhaps being pregnant had made her increasingly zen—so long as it didn’t touch her bottom line, she would let him have his way.

While Delphine was annoyed on her end, Ignatius Leclair, for his part, slept better than he had in a long ti. His insomnia over the past few days had been mostly related to her. Now that he could hold her in his arms every night, not only had his insomnia improved, but even his headaches had subsided significantly.

Having resolved his sleep problems, the man finally had the mood to deal with the remaining trivial matters.

Maximilian arrived early in the morning with the test reports in hand.

"Old Fourth said the test reports didn’t show any issues."

Ignatius Leclair glanced over the results of various tests. He too felt that his body was fine, other than the insomnia and headaches.

The man asked casually, "Where is Ji’an?"

"He’s holed up in the research lab and won’t co out no matter how hard we tried to drag him out," Maximilian stifled a laugh. The truth was, Ji’an was too scared to co near; only now had he learned that Miss Delphine used to love teasing Old Fourth. Now that she’d beco Mrs. Leclair, Old Fourth tried his best to avoid her.

Keeping his distance wasn’t a bad idea, Maximilian mused. With Old Fourth’s kind of intelligence and lack of street smarts, if he got too close to Miss Delphine, Ignatius Leclair’s jealousy would undoubtedly cause trouble for Old Fourth. From the look of things, Old Fourth had been running errands to Northern Town so much recently that his legs were about to fall off. This place had beco the new central hub.

"Regarding Old Fourth’s ntion of the bearded man, I’ve already looked into it. He’s Dutch, has lived in Arica for years, and is a psychologist primarily researching subconscious theories. Ten years ago, he published a radical theory on subconscious reconstruction, which faced heavy criticism in the field, rendering him silent for a ti. He’s been living in poverty, dedicating himself entirely to research—a total madman. In this aspect, he’s quite similar to Old Fourth, which explains why the two can hit it off." Maximilian explained.

When Ignatius Leclair heard about the theory of subconscious reconstruction, his expression darkened slightly. Dr. Wen had ntioned sothing similar before, but quickly refuted the idea himself. It seed that subconscious reconstruction caused extre psychological damage. Such views were excessively wild—who would alter their own mories willingly? Especially deep mories?

"Use Old Fourth’s na to arrange a eting with the man in the South Seas," Ignatius Leclair said, his narrow eyes slightly squinted, his tone cold and sharp.

"Alright." Maximilian hesitated to speak further. There was sothing strange about this whole affair. Yesterday, when Ignatius Leclair was probing Ji’an with questions, Maximilian had been standing by, sweating bullets for Ji’an. Yet that kid had been completely unaware of his predicant. No one had any idea what Ji’an had been up to during the six months when Ignatius Leclair’s schedule had been blank.

Six years ago, it had been Second Brother who stayed by Ignatius Leclair’s side. Thinking back on how Second Brother had been exiled for years, Maximilian felt a chill of terror.

"Help reach out to Elder Wen and tell him the last hypnosis left so aftereffects," Ignatius Leclair said plainly. Though Elder Wen had vowed not to hypnotize him again, doctors liked researching unusual cases. What about subconscious reconstruction? The old doctor would surely be intrigued.

After lunch, Maximilian dragged the old doctor over. His expression remained stiff throughout; he regretted hypnotizing Ignatius Leclair. Not only was the man powerful and influential, but he was so rich that money could bury a person alive. If there really were aftereffects, the old doctor feared he’d have no peace even in his grave.

Ignatius Leclair deliberately picked the ti when Delphine would be taking her afternoon nap. By the ti she woke up, his hypnosis session should have ended. He wanted to uncover snippets of their past together.
