the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart Chapter 512: Let me see the fate of marrying a non-human
Bessie Leclair was still crying and screaming, while Delphine had already left the Yeager estate. Looking at the lush greenery within the estate, the luxurious engagent banquet that had been teeming with social elites last year still lingered in her mory, yet now everything had changed beyond recognition.
Bessie had finally acquired the marriage she desired, but lost everything in the process; Griffith Squire, now a rising nouveau riche in the South Seas who had captured the hearts of countless elite won, was missing—his fate unknown; the carefree Leah had crossed the ocean and departed; the Wade Family was no more, the Cloud Family had fallen from grace, and in the South Seas, only she remained.
Delphine lowered her gaze, an inexplicable sense of desolation welling up from within her.
"Miss Delphine, we should head back now; otherwise, if the young master can’t find you, he’ll start worrying too much," Mrs. Li supported her, speaking with kind affection.
Delphine nodded and followed her outside, just reaching the gates of the Yeager estate when Ignatius Leclair’s car pulled up abruptly and stopped.
The man stepped out of the vehicle, his handso face cold as ice. When he caught sight of her, however, his expression softened slightly. Striding towards her swiftly, he instinctively reached out to take her hand and said in a low voice, "What made you think of visiting Bessie?"
He rembered that the two of them had never gotten along well since childhood.
"She married the wrong man. I wanted to see how it turned out—so I could take it as a warning," Delphine replied calmly, her words carrying layered aning.
Ignatius’s long, deep phoenix eyes darkened as he looked at her prickly, cold deanor. Yet her unparalleled beauty dampened her imposing air. His brows softened indulgently, his thin lips curving slightly as he said in a low voice, "Wait for in the car. I’ll go check on Bessie."
Delphine climbed into the car, exhausted from all the visiting and confrontations. She tilted her head and closed her eyes, resting inside the vehicle.
She didn’t know how much ti had passed before she was startled awake by the man’s kiss pressing lightly on her forehead.
Delphine sat up, realizing the car still hadn’t moved. Ignatius had just gotten into the vehicle, his handso face seemingly cloaked in a foreboding shadow, somber enough to be frightening.
"What happened?" she asked faintly.
"Bessie got hurt and has been sent to the hospital. Let take you ho first," Ignatius said, his voice deep. Seeing her drowsy eyes barely able to stay open, he couldn’t resist kissing her eyelids softly again.
Awoken by his antics, Delphine shook off so of her fatigue. Thinking about Bessie’s injury, her heart grew increasingly detached. Even a woman as privileged as the Leclair family’s fourth daughter couldn’t escape misfortune in matters of love; n in this world were, after all, largely heartless.
Ignatius noticed her pale, emotionless face as she sat silently inside the car. His phoenix-like eyes narrowed slightly. If Delphine hadn’t co today, Reginald Yeager and Bessie wouldn’t have clashed so fiercely. But Reginald, after all these years, had truly grown dark and ruthless. Even though Bessie threatened him with death and refused to return to the Leclair Family, he remained utterly unmoved.
The man’s gaze deepened as mories of Bessie’s arrogance over the years surfaced. Everything that had led her to this point was of her own making. While Delphine’s presence had certainly intensified their conflict today, he was determined to protect his wife regardless.
Today, his hypnosis had dredged up fragnts of past monts spent with her. It was now certain that, for reasons unknown, soone had tampered with his mories of Delphine. The truth would only co to light once they found that psychologist from Finland.
But as ti went on, the steadfast man felt increasingly restless within. It was as though a tightly closed door lood before him—pushing it open would reveal all the answers. Yet he sensed that opening that door would co at an enormous cost, consequences he couldn’t foresee.
