Mr. Zhao made up his mind, emboldened by alcohol, and lunged forward, attempting to grab her. He said eagerly, "All day long, I see you cozying up with that pretty boy. Stop pretending to be so virtuous woman. If you dare to scream, not only will you lose your standing, but your son will too."

He had encountered countless won like her—those from out of town, unable to afford high-end apartnts, forced to live in old residential areas. They were always the easiest targets.

Mr. Zhao was experienced. In the past, he used sweet words to deceive girls from out of town, waiting for them to fall for him, half-willing. Once the deed was done, the won often didn’t dare make a fuss. After tasting the benefits, it beca a habit for him to target such won.

When Delphine moved in, he tried every possible hint in his words but found her impervious, cold, and distant. For a while, he didn’t dare act rashly. Perhaps tonight’s alcohol muddled his mind. Seeing her wandering in the yard late at night instead of sleeping, he assud she was seducing him. The man could no longer suppress his urges and pounced, intent on taking advantage of the situation.

Delphine’s expression changed drastically. She swung the wooden basin she held and smashed it over his head. Wet clothes scattered everywhere, and she said coldly, "Take one step closer, and I’ll call the police."

Mr. Zhao was hit squarely in the face by the hard basin and drenched by the wet clothes. Half of his drunkenness sobered up instantly, but his arousal grew even stronger. He grabbed her forcefully and threatened in a rough, vicious tone, "Try running, and I’ll go inside and deal with your son."

Delphine’s body stiffened abruptly. Inside the house were not only Nicholas but also Benjamin.

At the alley entrance, Yeats Howard and Cassius Turner had no idea how many bottles they had emptied. Yeats was sprawled on the hood of the SUV, staring at the pitch-black night sky, then glancing at Wilbur Turner, who was utterly drunk on the car roof. Yeats hiccupped, swaying his bottle, and said, "Refreshing. It’s been—so long—since I’ve drunk this—freely."

"Wilbur, I—I’m here to protect our little Benjamin. What—what are you here for?" Yeats, completely drunk, slurred his words and stamred.

Cassius, still sowhat sober, had entirely lost his usual refined deanor. His tie was nowhere to be found, and one of his shirt buttons had been torn off. Feeling vexed, he knew Yeats had sent Benjamin over, so he ca out to join him for a drink.

Nearly thirty years old, yet still like a lovestruck teenager, drowning his sorrows for an unrequited love.

"I like a woman, but she doesn’t like ," Wilbur said wistfully.

Yeats sobered up halfway and burst into laughter. He laughed so hard that he rolled off the hood of the car, almost falling flat on the ground.

The Demon King of the Howard Family clung to the car’s headlights, clutching his stomach as he laughed uncontrollably. "You punk, finally, you get a taste of this too!"

Wilbur promptly threw an empty bottle down at him.

"My motto as Lord Howard is: If you like her, go take her. Once you’ve taken her, she’s yours!" Yeats declared grandly, pulling on the car’s headlights. In his excitent, he yanked the headlight right off the car.

Yeats: "..."

"What the hell is this junk? It just falls apart like that?" Yeats stared blankly at the headlight in his hand.

When Ignatius Leclair arrived at the alley entrance, what he saw was the Howard Family’s unruly troublemaker foolishly clutching a headlight, too drunk to stand straight, while another lay sprawled on the car roof.

The man stepped out of his car, his sharp, handso face darkening even further in the night.

Maximilian, noticing Ignatius’s grim expression, worried he might lose his temper and start beating up Yeats on the spot. Rushing forward, Maximilian grabbed Yeats and said, "Mr. Leclair has been calling you for an hour. Where’s Miss Benjamin?"

Yeats shuddered, sobering up entirely. Looking at his cold, nacing uncle, his tongue froze in fear. "Ben—Benjamin is inside."

The little Demon King of the Howards pointed toward the interior, almost breaking into tears. Oh, dear Benjamin, for you, your brother is really putting half his life on the line this ti.

Ignatius’s face remained ice-cold as he silently strode deeper into the alley.
