Now reading: Chapter 568: Should He Be Thankful to Ignatius Leclair? from the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart, a Romance novel by Smoky and desolate.

Ignatius Leclair narrowed his phoenix eyes, temporarily assuming that the second son of the Land Family was jealous of him. The man spoke indifferently, his voice cold and deep: "Mr. Wilbur Turner, don’t you think you should sober up, change your clothes, and then join us?"

The dignified and aloof man had a deeply ingrained sense of cleanliness. As he caught a whiff of the faint sll of alcohol on Cassius Turner, he frowned slightly, his gaze betraying subtle displeasure.

Cassius Turner’s montum suddenly faltered. After being dragged into a night of drinking by Yeats Howard, he had slept in his car all night and rushed over, flooring the accelerator. There was no ti for him to shower or change his clothes.

The man imdiately felt a bit defeated. Delphine must have seen him in this sloppy state already. He really didn’t usually drink; it was all Yeats Howard’s fault, that scoundrel.

"I’ll go back and change once Mr. Leclair leaves. No need for your concern." Cassius Turner stubbornly held his ground. As long as Ignatius Leclair didn’t leave, he wouldn’t either.

Ignatius Leclair curled his lips into a cold smile.

After Benjamin Leclair finished letting his mother apply the fragrant moisturizer on her face, opened all the presents, and divided them up with Nicholas Carter, one for each of them, she finally hugged the pile of gifts in her arms and called out sweetly, "Daddy, please help Benjamin. Benjamin can’t carry this many gifts."

Ignatius Leclair walked in and saw Benjamin still wearing her pink bunny pajamas, clutching a heap of gifts in her arms. The little girl’s jet-black eyes were pure and sparkling, her sweet smile capable of lting anyone’s heart.

A hint of softness appeared on his face.

"Miss Benjamin, let help you carry these." Maximilian stepped forward with a smile to grab Benjamin’s gifts.

Ignatius Leclair glanced at Delphine and Benjamin, his gaze deepened, and without saying a word, he took Benjamin and left.

As soon as the man left, Delphine’s taut nerves finally eased. She crouched down and tightly embraced her four-year-old son Nicholas, her eyes faintly misty.

The young boy didn’t know why his mother was so tense about him this morning, but he sensibly patted her back and spoke in a crisp, soft voice, "Mommy, are you worried about Nicholas? Nicholas wouldn’t run away from ho like Benjamin did."

Hearing this, Delphine couldn’t help but smile slightly. She stroked his head and, with watery eyes, said, "Mommy knows Nicholas is the most well-behaved."

"Even if Daddy shows up later, Nicholas wouldn’t leave Mommy." The boy’s voice grew quieter as he buried his little head tightly against Delphine’s chest.

Delphine froze for a mont. Over the years, mother and son had depended on each other for survival. She didn’t understand why her child had such thoughts, yet hearing them made her feel both gratified and pained.

Calming her emotions, Delphine spoke softly, "Nicholas, are you hungry? Let’s have breakfast first, okay?"

After preparing Nicholas’s breakfast, Delphine stepped out of the courtyard and saw that Cassius Turner hadn’t left yet. The refined and elegant man stood dejectedly in the courtyard, and upon seeing her co out, he looked a bit flustered as he said, "I’m sorry, Delphine. I drank too much with Yeats Howard last night. Otherwise, I would have co earlier. I an, I usually don’t drink."

He stayed a respectable distance away from her, afraid that the lingering sll of alcohol on his clothes might annoy her.

Seeing him, Delphine thought about how he ca from a prestigious family yet maintained his integrity, rushing over because of a single ssage from her, unbothered by the potential offense it might cause Ignatius Leclair, and instead worrying that she might be bothered by his faint scent of alcohol.

Thinking of this, Delphine was quietly moved and softly expressed her gratitude, "Professor Turner, thank you for coming. Co in and have breakfast first."

Cassius Turner was taken aback for a mont, then his gaze brightened slightly. So was this a blessing in disguise? Could he grab breakfast as well? Perhaps he should thank Ignatius Leclair.
