The Land Family was in complete chaos, yet Cassius Turner remained indifferent, continuing to stay in the hospital. He completely ignored Ignatius Leclair’s increasingly stormy expression and showered Delphine with constant concern and care every morning and evening.

The man who had once commanded storms in Southeast Asia found himself hitting a soft yet stubborn wall in the Imperial City.

The Land Family tried probing the Howard Family with a visit, but the elderly Mrs. Howard maintained a cordial deanor. The Land Family imdiately understood that the old lady likely didn’t ddle in her juniors’ affairs. Additionally, after Mrs. Land nearly lost her son, she had a massive argunt with Mr. Land and firmly sided with her son, then returned to her maiden family.

Mr. Land, feeling alienated on all fronts, let his temper flare with abandon.

Thus, the pressure campaign from the Land Family disintegrated completely. When Ignatius Leclair received the news, his face was grim. After all, this was not Southeast Asia; the Imperial City was rife with prestigious families and tangled relationships, far from straightforward. No wonder Wilbur Turner exuded such confidence and appeared daily to make his presence felt.

With Wilbur Turner constantly showing concern for Delphine, Ignatius Leclair felt pushed to the periphery these past few days. Delphine, who hadn’t been particularly fond of him to begin with, now maintained a deliberate distance, avoiding him at every turn. So days, she didn’t utter a single word to him.

Feeling depressed, the man picked up the phone and called Richard Shaw.

"Year-end approaches. Care to co back for a gathering?" Ignatius Leclair said in a deep, restrained voice.

Richard Shaw’s leg had long since been mostly healed, though he hadn’t publicized it yet.

"I was already planning to bring Leah back in the coming days." Richard Shaw chuckled softly, adding, "Why—sothing troubling you in the Imperial City?"

"Not quite," Ignatius Leclair replied, narrowing his keen phoenix eyes. There were so scores with Old Shaw he’d settle once he returned!

"Has Griffith Squire really been completely out of contact for three years?" Ignatius’s tone grew indifferent. "Or is it that sothing happened and you’ve kept in the dark?"

Richard Shaw fell silent for a mont before he spoke coldly, "He surfaced in Italy two months ago but disappeared again shortly afterward."

Ignatius furrowed his well-defined brows at the response. So Griffith Squire hadn’t encountered any misfortune? Dealing with one Wilbur Turner in the Imperial City was already troubleso. If Griffith Squire returned, it would beco even more complicated—not just for him, but also for Old Shaw.

"You’re bringing Leah back to the Shaw Mansion?"

"I inford only the old lady at ho." Richard Shaw’s voice was heavy. "No one else knows. They rely think she’s a young girl who looks strikingly similar to Crystal Landon."

Privately, Richard Shaw wished that Leah would never recall her past, free from the heavy constraints of hatred so she could live her life with bold, carefree abandon.

"If all goes as planned, this ti we’re likely to register for marriage," the man with strikingly handso yet rugged features remarked with a faint smile.

Ignatius tightened his chest at this. Damn, was this just a blatant boast? He curled his lips into a cold sneer. "So high-profile—aren’t you worried Griffith Squire might barge in and sabotage the wedding? Can’t you keep a low profile and celebrate in secret?"

Leah hadn’t rembered her past yet, and Griffith Squire had been in hiding for three years with unclear intentions. Back when Crystal Landon held unmatched glory in the Imperial City’s circles, who hadn’t heard of her na? And now, you’re bringing back a woman who’s her exact replica? Not thinking to conceal her yet still flaunting your love story—love-struck n really are devoid of common sense.

Frustrated and moody, Ignatius regretted even making this phone call. Having been irritated by Wilbur Turner all week, now Old Shaw had to rub his romantic fortune in his face?

"Get back here already. A grown man pretending to be a sickly recluse and using pity tactics—just watching it makes irritated," Ignatius laughed coldly and grimaced in exasperation.

To win a wife, even stooping to pretending to be handicapped—that really takes audacity. Narrowing his dark, deep-set phoenix-like eyes, Ignatius resolved that when Old Shaw returned, he’d clear out all the lurking evils in this Imperial City, after which he’d return to Southeast Asia with his woman and child.
