the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart Chapter 644: Probably Every Man Will Be Elated
Ignatius Leclair hadn’t finished speaking when Cassius Turner’s face turned ashen.
Delphine Carter almost wanted to swallow her tongue; after all, Cassius Turner wasn’t a lunatic like Ignatius Leclair.
"I heard Ignatius nearly lost his life. I ca to see if there’s anything I can help with—after all, he’s Nicholas’s father," Cassius Turner said, looking at Delphine with a gentle smile.
Using the self-pity tactic? Then he’d best play the magnanimous gentleman to the hilt.
Delphine’s gaze flickered, and she smiled. "Thank you. You’re still hospitalized yourself; you need to rest more. Let walk you back."
Master Cassius nodded, his peripheral vision catching Ignatius’s face darkening, almost making him chuckle in triumph. Delphine had probably never been this tender, this concerned about him, had she? Power and influence might buy everything, but not soone’s true heart or love.
Cassius Turner won a small victory and didn’t linger, returning to his own room.
After Delphine escorted Cassius back, she retraced her steps. Just as she reached the door of the room, it was wide open, and lody Cloud’s thoughtful and gentle voice drifted out.
"Brother Ignatius, I was scared to death when I heard the news. I flew over overnight. How could you possibly suffer such a severe injury?
This is fish soup I made this morning. I rember you always drank the fish soup Aunt Lan made when you were sick. Though my skills aren’t as good, I made this for you myself."
Inside the room, lody Cloud wore a simple and elegant ensemble, her long hair reaching her waist. Her features were pure and delicate, more captivating than three years ago. She attentively poured the soup into a small clay pot and served it to Ignatius Leclair.
Delphine’s gaze turned chilly. Three years without seeing her, and now she’d donned another mask—this ti playing the role of the "pure goddess"?
Ignatius Leclair narrowed his eyes, expressionless. Already in a foul mood, he wanted to dismiss her with just a couple of sentences. Yet his peripheral vision caught Delphine’s slender figure outside the door, and the depths of his phoenix-shaped eyes shifted as he indifferently said, "You still rember these trivial things?"
lody Cloud’s eyes lit up when he showed interest in revisiting the past. "We grew up together. I’ve always rembered everything about you," she said brightly.
Delphine laughed faintly at those words. From her angle, she couldn’t see Ignatius’s expression, but with such a pure and stunning beauty expressing care and sincerity, surely any man would feel ecstatic.
She stepped inside, coldly breaking their conversation. "Miss Cloud, when did you return to the country? This ti, are you here to make a coback or just visiting family?"
lody Cloud turned around, looking at the woman who had taken her childhood sweetheart, forced the Cloud Family into hiding, and driven her abroad for three years. Her gaze flickered coldly for a mont, but it was quickly replaced by an impeccable smile as she approached Delphine, reaching out as if to hold her hand. "Delphine, we’re practically cousins. You can just call Sister," she said cheerfully.
Delphine took a step back, avoiding her touch, and scoffed as she exposed her: "Miss Cloud, are you here to see my ex-husband?"
lody Cloud glanced nervously at Ignatius, only to find that his handso, cold deanor was entirely fixed on Delphine Carter. He hadn’t even spared her a glance. Furious, her body trembled slightly.
"Delphine, I know you’ve always resented because of Uncle’s matter. For the past three years, I’ve always regretted not treating you better back then. Won’t you give a chance to make ands?" lody said, her tone aggrieved and restrained.
"Miss Cloud, what a waste of acting talent not to enter the entertainnt industry. If you’re interested, I can recomnd a few directors to you," Delphine replied, lips curling, eting lody’s gaze head-on without backing down.
Ignatius Leclair could marry anyone—except lody Cloud. This woman had a venomous heart and hated her with every fiber of her being; how could she ever sincerely love Benjamin?
