In the living room, Isaac was playing video gas with the old man and two little kids, while Nathan leaned against the wooden sliding door between the living room and the small garden, watching Delphine cook in front of the open kitchen counter.

"Strictly speaking, she’s your sister-in-law," Ignatius’s deep, indifferent voice sounded. At so point, the man had appeared behind him, his gaze following Nathan’s, landing on Delphine.

Nathan shrugged and chuckled, "Since she’s the sister-in-law, shouldn’t we find so ti to make it official? Otherwise, not to ntion other aristocratic families, even we ourselves might continue thinking she’s just the mistress of our elder brother."

Ignatius’s phoenix eyes slightly drooped, the smile at the corner of his lips shallow and distant. His voice was cold as he said, "You should know that being the wife of an aristocratic family cos with pressures and responsibilities. To , she only needs to be my wife. I’ll handle everything else."

To Ignatius, wherever he was, that place would naturally be the core of the Leclair Family’s authority. Delphine’s personality was sothing he cherished deeply, and it was inconceivable for him to force her to change for the sake of such superficial titles. In truth, those so-called aristocratic families would never co close to what Delphine represented in his heart.

Nathan was montarily stunned. Ignatius’s implication—was he planning to shield her? Shelter her from all societal obligations of the aristocracy? This terrifying possessiveness paired with a near-absolute confidence?

"Grandfather knows your thoughts?" Nathan asked lightly.

Ignatius glanced at the old man, who was engrossed in gaming with the little ones, and replied with an unhurried smile. For now, as long as the old man had children to entertain him, he probably wouldn’t voice any objections. This ti, Delphine inviting him over for dinner and his enthusiastic response was already a clear signal.

The old-fashioned patriarch had truly accepted Delphine as his granddaughter-in-law.

"Haven’t you found soone suitable to marry and start a family over these years?" Ignatius countered.

"When I was younger, there was soone I liked. Later on, I dated a few others, but I could never find that sa spark I felt back then. In recent years, I’ve grown weary of romantic relationships and have stayed single," Nathan replied with a slight smile, speaking unreservedly. His looks were not as sharp and coldly handso as Ignatius’s; instead, his sunny and casually rebellious deanor carried a devil-may-care charm. Coupled with the natural elegance of an aristocrat, he embodied the "bad boy" archetype that was wildly popular at the ti.

"Perhaps what you truly liked was rely the feeling of that initial spark, not the person attached to it," Ignatius said indifferently, offering ideological comfort to his rival.

Nathan laughed at this, nodding in agreent. "Maybe. The first ti you’re truly moved by soone, it’s always the hardest to forget."

If Ignatius himself believed the words he used to placate others, Nathan mused, then his own inconsistent behavior over the years wouldn’t have persisted—wasn’t it because he couldn’t move on? Nathan’s gaze grew deeper. Back then, it was his own fault for taking the relationship lightly. Growing up amidst won’s fervent pursuit had desensitized the second son of the Leclair Family to matters of the heart. Later, after he left South Asia and drifted through the bustling, ostentatious world, there were nights when he awoke abruptly, haunted by dreams.

In those dreams, he was still a casually rebellious teenager, riding his motorbike at a slow pace, trailing behind a young girl pedaling her bicycle. Along that road, the kapok flowers blood, pastel pink petals scattering all over the ground. Later, as he grew tired of extravagance, he wandered through mountains and rivers, from icy polar regions to the equator, searching for years but never finding a path as beautiful as the one etched in his mory.

Nathan reached out and patted Ignatius on the shoulder, curling his lips into that familiar devil-may-care smile. "Brother, you truly are Heaven’s favorite. I think I might even be jealous of you."
