Looking at his combat power, Faust couldn’t help but think back to when the Trials started. He had around 40 combat power.
If he t his past self now, he could kill himself with a casual flick of his hands.
Strange how his first thought was how easily he could kill himself, but moving on. Faust turned his mind to his skill fusion.
Flowing Viper and Rage Strike were still good choices, but he looked over his skills and thought what other skills would combine well.
A Heavy Fireball and Acid Shot fusion? The thought sent shivers down his spine. He worried for the enemies that would have to face that.
Appraise and Observe might be another hidden dark horse. He was actually tempted to see what it could do.
Craft Golems and Light Clones fusion? It would be cool but not useful in fights imdiately.
With his 100% Drop Rate system, these things were bound to happen. For now, he had to just focus on combat ability.
He pulled the skill fusion stone out of his spatial bag and studied it. It was a cylindrical, multi-colored crystal.
[Skill Fusion Stone: Allows for the fusion of two skills regardless of grade or level. The combined skill will take on the grade of the highest skill fused and start at level 1]
He placed his two hands on either side of the crystal and poured his mana into it, calling on Flowing Viper and Rage Strike ntally.
The crystal glowed and let out a discordant hum that slowly harmonized. Then it shattered, and a new notification flashed in front of his eyes.
[Congratulations, you have successfully fused the "Flowing Viper" and "Rage Strike" skills to form the "Spiteful Serpent" skill!]
[Spiteful Serpent Lv1 (Silver): Creates a silver serpent around you after five strikes that can strike independently five tis. Cooldown: ten seconds.]
Next, he pulled out the Skill Grade Enhancent stone. It was a clear, crystal orb that reflected Faust’s crimson hair back at him.
He quickly poured his mana into it, and it shattered silently.
For a second, he felt nothing.
Then his body stiffened as power rushed through him. He held back his grunts, but Nirvana still noticed and placed a hand on his lap. He offered her a stiff nod.
The rush of a Gold-grade skill was a bit overwhelming, but soon it settled. There was a lingering feeling of weight in his chest, though. The knowledge he was carrying sothing a bit heavy for his stature.
But he couldn’t care less. He would manage it to the best of his ability. Vi had explained to him that his soul was abnormally strong for a being of his age. He could take a lot of punishnt.
’But maybe it’s a good idea to take things a bit easier in the future.’
[Congratulations, you have raised the grade of your skill!]
[You have gained the skill "Winged Serpent"!]
[You are the first human to gain a Gold-grade skill in the history of your planet! You have gained 5 reputation points!]
[Winged Serpent Lv1 (Gold): The unholy creation of an incomparably greedy Player, now inherited by soone of similar nature. Each of your attacks releases a flying serpent that hunts the enemy. You can create a Winged Serpent to fly with. After ten attacks, call down a barrage of Winged Serpents that apply the Slow effect to anything hit.]
Thalia frowned beside him. "You just got five more reputation points. What did you do?"
"Stalker much?" Faust asked.
"No, I’m not your girlfriend." Faust had to stop Nirvana from getting at her after that. "I was looking at it, trying to gleam how it works."
Faust would have to check that out later. For now, he moved back to his upgrades. Winged Serpent was a ridiculous skill by all trics.
Three different uses to the skill and a special effect.
He was really going to enjoy using this one. Every single one of his attacks would scale to devastating heights with the skill and his high Strength and Spirit attributes.
But next up was raising the grade of his armor.
He had to beco a juggernaut in offense and defense.
He pulled out pieces of the armor as Sergio brought food to their terrace seating. Drekar perked up like a cat, sniffing the air in interest.
With his armor on the table, Nirvana had to hold his food for him. She fed him bites and shared the food with him. So macaroni that Sergio called sothing Italian and so strange sauce that was savory and had potatoes.
The others watched them, making gagging sounds and asking what Faust was doing.
"Armor upgrade," he answered as he pulled out the final piece of the Moon Leviathan armor.
The white armor with red trims shone under the rising sun’s rays. Faust couldn’t help but notice how picturesque this was.
A group of friends laughing in the outdoor seating of a wooden restaurant. Plants and vines decorated the terrace, Sergio’s touch. And the sound of laughter was relaxing.
He would never admit this out loud, but this was fun.
He smirked and took out the final piece. The Equipnt Grade Enhancent stone. It was a clear orb like the other one he used on skills. The sunlight refracted out of it in rainbow lights.
Faust touched the armor and poured his mana into the stone. It shattered silently again.
[Congratulations, you have upgraded your equipnt "Moon Leviathan" to Gold grade!]
[Moon Leviathan (Gold): Armor cut from the scales of a powerful great monster. 100 Strength 80 Constitution. Reduces the effects of debuffs by 20%. Each ti damage is taken, 20% of it is absorbed and turned into moonlight. When the moonlight reaches its maximum, you can use the skill "Leviathan’s Call". Requirents: ??, ??, ??, ??.]
’Now that was so fucking worth it.’
The armor had a deep light to it now. Pure white, but sothing lingered beneath it. Other than that, it was mostly the sa.
"That armor looks so good," Greg said, staring at it hungrily.
Faust felt a smug smile pull at his lips. The big fella wasn’t so lucky after all. He pulled out upgrade stones as he set out to upgrade his armor once.
Gold-grade things needed twenty Skill or Enhancent stones to go up their first level.
Faust felt his heart ache as the resources he just got were sucked away. He used the twenty he got from the Platinum treasure chest to boost his stuff by one level each.
[Winged Serpent Lv2 (Gold): The unholy creation of an incomparably greedy Player, now inherited by soone of similar nature. Each of your attacks releases a flying serpent that hunts the enemy. You can create a Winged Serpent to fly with. After ten attacks, call down a barrage of Winged Serpents that apply the Slow effect to anything hit. (Stronger attacks.)]
[Moon Leviathan 2 (Gold): Armor cut from the scales of a powerful great monster. 120 Strength 100 Constitution. Reduces the effects of debuffs by 25%. Each ti damage is taken, 20% of it is absorbed and turned into moonlight. When the moonlight reaches its maximum, you can use the skill "Leviathan’s Call". Requirents: ??, ??, ??, ??. (Increased Damage for Leviathan’s Call.)]
So much for a Platinum treasure chest.
He had gone from obscenely rich to poor in an instant.
But that was the fate of getting stronger. Right now, there wasn’t a single player in the entire Origin trials that could beat him. If he ran back his fight with Negan now, Faust would demolish that spider loser.
Though, Negan’s powers were severely limited.
Outside in this digital world, Negan was a Platinum-rank Player. Vi didn’t know anything about him, but she stated that most Platinum rankers could devastate continents at full strength.
Gold was the standard for being called a skilled player. With so resolve, skill, and a lot of luck, you could reach that level. It was at that level you entered the universal rankings.
Platinum-rank ascension quests, according to her, needed teams and often reshaped worlds. Most worlds barely had a thousand Platinum-ranked players.
Not to talk of Supre or Epic rank players. In the vast universe, you were more likely to die before you ever saw them.
And any species with a Legend-rank player was often inducted into the Sponsors of the Origin Trials.
Faust clenched his fist in quivering excitent. He couldn’t wait to see what they could do.
