"What happened? Auntie said you were putting ii to sleep, why are you crying?" Jin Chenye walked over to her, looking down at Ye Mingi, whose expression was unusually grim.
His gaze fell on the sketchbook and photos in her hands, eyes shimring slightly.
"Is this ii’s? What did she draw?"
"..."
Ye Mingi hesitated for a second, sniffled, adjusted her emotions, and then spoke, "Why are you here, senior?"
"I’m here to tell you that during the parents’ eting today, on the route where I was kidnapped, the roadside surveillance video was deliberately damaged in advance. Moreover, the waiting room where ii was staying had its school surveillance tapes stolen."
Jin Chenye sat down in front of the sofa, his deanor becoming strict, "I suspect this incident is not just a simple coincidence. Try not to take ii out for the next few days, and if you must go out, it’s best to have more people with you. I’m worried there might be danger for you and your daughter."
"..."
Ye Mingi was a little dazed, clutching the sketchbook and photos in her hands, not fully absorbing what Jin Chenye was saying. Instead, she was pondering how ii could know what Yu Xiuzhun looked like and drew him so accurately...
Even when she bumped into the corner of the table, Ye Mingi didn’t feel the pain.
"Mingi, what’s wrong, what are you thinking about?" Jin Chenye grasped her wrist, stopping her from bumping into the sofa in front, his tender eyes turning deep, fixedly observing Ye Mingi, who seed wholly uneasy.
He took the sketchbook from her hands, flipped through it, and his eyes tightened.
Then he bent down to pick up the photo that had fallen on the ground, looking at Yu Xiuzhun, who appeared spirited in the photo, with shock in his dark eyes!
"Is this ii’s drawing?"
Jin Chenye stood up, holding the sketchbook and photo aloft.
Ye Mingi snapped back to reality when he took the sketchbook, wanting to grab it back, but her actions were not as quick as Jin Chenye’s.
Now that he had seen it, Ye Mingi could only nod honestly and sit on the sofa, holding her face in her hands.
"I never showed ii any photos of Yu Xiuzhun. I don’t know how she got these, or how she even secretly hid in the wardrobe to draw these sketches of Yu Xiuzhun."
She always thought ii had never seen her father and felt no attachnt to him. The word "father" to her was just a title.
If she truly reached an agreent with Jin Chenye, given ii’s fondness for him, she probably wouldn’t mind having Jin Chenye as her father.
But until this mont, Ye Mingi realized she didn’t understand ii at all.
ii knew what her father looked like and even secretly drew these sketches of Yu Xiuzhun behind her back, which ans, in ii’s heart, she already has a father... a father she recognizes!
"Just because you didn’t give ii a photo doesn’t an others won’t. Yu Xiuzhun is her father, and she’ll find out sooner or later." Unlike Ye Mingi’s shock, Jin Chenye appeared much more composed.
Looking at the sketches drawn by ii, and connecting it to everything inexplicable that day, a bold idea slowly erged in his mind...
If Yu Xiuzhun were still alive, knowing he was going to attend ii’s parents’ eting...
Jin Chenye’s gaze sharpened, a glint of insight flickering across his eyes.
He suddenly stood up from the sofa, placing the sketchbook back on the coffee table, "I just rembered that I have matters to deal with, I’ll co to see you and ii again tomorrow."
