The next day, Duanmu Huai appeared fresh and invigorated, while Mugeng behind him was struggling to walk steadily, swaying left and right in a hung-over manner.
"Are you okay, Miss Mugeng?"
Lorena looked at Mugeng with so concern and asked, while the latter managed to force out a faint smile.
"I’m... I’m fine..."
As she spoke, Mugeng instinctively reached out to press her abdon. Although it had returned to its previous smooth state, Mugeng still rembered how her belly bulged last night, as if it would pierce through her entire body.
That was really......
"I finally understand why the master is so formidable."
"??? I don’t quite understand what you an, do you need to heal you?"
"Please do!"
When the three walked out of the tent, the camp was already bustling with activity. Seeing Duanmu Huai and the others appear, everyone greeted them. Professor Serizawa and Kiba Hiroto also led the group to the table to start the eting.
Simply put, after locking onto the behemoth gorilla yesterday, the Argo hovering above tracked its movents. Given its massive size, it was naturally easy to track. They followed the direction in which the behemoth gorilla fled and eventually found it hiding in a canyon located on the northwest side of Skull Island.
It’s unclear whether it’s scared by Duanmu Huai and the others, or if it has other ideas. In any case, it’s now hiding there, looking around, appearing quite vigilant.
Moreover, while tracking the gorilla, the Argo made a new discovery; on the west side of its hiding spot is a wasteland. There are two massive skeletons there, larger than the gorilla behemoth they’ve currently found.
In other words, this gorilla behemoth might not be fully matured yet; it’s likely in an adolescent stage. Hence, the command center suggests not to disturb the gorilla behemoth for now but to investigate the two remains in this area, collect specins for study, and conduct a wide-ranging search around. If no clues are found, it’s not too late to deal with the gorilla.
However...... in terms of how to reach the destination, the command center posed a challenge to them.
First, using the transport aircraft is definitely out of the question. For one, the aircraft is a clear target in the sky, and the previous battle showed that the gorilla has anti-air capabilities, though previously blocked by Duanmu Huai. Without that block, the transport plane would have been knocked down by the gorilla’s thrown tree!
This ti, they were lucky, but they can’t count on that next ti. Moreover, the transport aircraft indeed lacks weapons suitable for dealing with such creatures, so everyone understands.
Then how about taking a boat upstream along the river?
Hmm...... This ti, Professor Serizawa didn’t speak but played a drone-recorded video.
In the footage, the battered gorilla arrived at a nearby river, cupped water and drank a few sips, then started washing its wounds. After all, Mugeng showed no rcy to it; multiple sword marks were left on its hand and chest areas. If not for the gorilla’s tough skin, it would have been slain.
However, while the gorilla was washing its wounds, it seed to notice sothing, glanced around, then suddenly thrust its hand towards the riverbed. At that mont, tentacles sprang from the depths and wound tightly around the gorilla!
This is a giant octopus!
Then the gorilla and the giant octopus began to fight in the river; the octopus trying to strangle the gorilla, while the gorilla wanting to tear the octopus apart. Ultimately, the gorilla ca out slightly ahead, tore apart the octopus’s tentacles, then walked away dragging the octopus’s body.
"Whoa, impressive."
Seeing this, Duanmu Huai couldn’t help but exclaim.
"With that many octopus, how many octopus balls could you make?"
"......?"
The group silently glanced at Duanmu Huai, eventually deciding not to speak.
Your focus is so unconventional, we can’t handle it.
But this also made it clear that water routes are not viable either; clearly, this island has not only behemoth gorillas but also giant aquatic beasts. Who knows whether this octopus is alone or part of a group? If attacked by such monsters in the water, yelling for help would be futile.
Thus, the group could only resort to the most ancient thod.
Walking!
As to why not use a car, the reason is simple; the place is dense with jungles or steep mountains, leaving no roads for driving, so walking on two legs is the only option.
Regarding equipnt and camping gear, they can wait until reaching the destination for an air-drop.
The route has been determined, with the Argo navigating overhead, their job is simply to walk.
Duanmu Huai felt a bit regretful about this. He originally planned to fish here.
With this island’s peculiar nature, even catching one grass carp would be worth bragging about for a lifeti!
Unfortunately, for safety reasons, this ti’s route planning avoided the riverside and opted for the dense forest. On one hand, this maximizes hiding Duanmu Huai and the others’ tracks to prevent detection. On the other hand, it ensures a certain degree of safety.
