Capítulo 1912: Chapter 1291: Behemoth Island

Duanmu Huai didn’t care about this; after all, they were using lee weapons. However, the rcenaries were sowhat displeased, but unfortunately, they had no say here. The command had given the route, and they could only proceed according to the plan.

So after finishing breakfast, the group packed up and set off.

Once inside the forest, Duanmu Huai led the way, Lorena covered the rear, and Mugeng stayed among the group. Although the others had guns, in such dense jungle, guns weren’t very useful. So they just followed behind Duanmu Huai, vigilantly watching their surroundings as they proceeded along the route.

“Ai……”

Following behind Duanmu Huai, looking at the Power Armor on him, the soldiers couldn’t help but show envious expressions. They were soldiers, so they naturally knew how formidable a Power Armor set like this was. The impressive appearance was secondary; it was the combat power that truly made them turn green with envy.

But everyone also knew that Duanmu Huai didn’t rely solely on combat power; his courage was equally impressive. Previously, while facing that giant gorilla over a hundred ters tall, they probably would have been too scared to even stand properly, yet Duanmu Huai dared to confront it head-on!

Suffice it to say, his courage alone was enough to make people give him a thumbs up!

Advancing through the forest was extrely exhausting. For well-trained soldiers and rcenaries, this was nothing. But for soone like Dr. Serizawa and those researchers from the Emperor Organization, who had never done any hard labor, it was downright life-threatening.

“We, let’s take a break!”

After just walking for a few hours, these researchers in blue couldn’t help but complain. The soldiers glanced at them with disdainful expressions.

“Useless, two girls didn’t even complain, and there you are, whining and shouting.”

“Can you handle it or not? That’s why I say you researchers don’t exercise daily; with such a physique, how could you possibly escape if a Monster showed up!”

“……”

Hearing the soldiers’ taunts, the researchers’ faces turned red. They were researchers, but they were also n. Initially, Lorena offered to help them carry the equipnt, but the researchers refused. After all, they were n; how could they let such a young girl shoulder such heavy loads?

But they couldn’t lift it themselves and had to rely on the soldiers.

They repeatedly warned the soldiers not to damage the equipnt… It’s no wonder the soldiers wouldn’t be pleased with these difficult-to-please bosses.

“Alright, alright, let’s take a break.”

Dr. Serizawa sighed, being older and even less suited for hiking, and he was covered in sweat from exhaustion. Hearing Dr. Serizawa’s words, the group found relief and sat down to rest—only to be kicked up by the soldiers beside them.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

“Idiot! Have books made you stupid? Sitting directly on the ground, you might get bitten by snakes or bugs! We don’t have the ti or energy to care for the injured!”

“Snakes?!”

Startled by this, the researchers quickly jumped up from the ground. Seeing this, Dr. Serizawa shook his head helplessly. It was understandable as these researchers rarely left their labs and lacked any field experience, so such oversights were normal.

As he took in the scenery, Dr. Serizawa sat on a nearby fallen log to catch his breath.

But as soon as he sat down, the thing under him, resembling a rotten log, trembled! Then, it suddenly lifted up!

“Whoa!”

Dr. Serizawa never expected the log under him to suddenly spring up, and he quickly retreated to the side. The soldiers imdiately raised their guns and aid at the log.

They then realized it wasn’t a log but a bug disguised as one!

Its body was entirely nestled within a log-like shell, motionless, deceiving everyone into treating it as a piece of wood.

“This, this, this……”

Seeing the large bug before them made everyone’s skin crawl, causing them to scramble away. The soldiers imdiately aid at the bug and pulled the trigger.

“Bang bang bang bang!!!”

A burst of bullets hit the bug, but it didn’t seem affected and rely tilted its head, silently watching the group.

Its eyes seed to say, “Is that it? Didn’t you eat?”

The soldiers’ attack enraged the bug, and it turned towards them, opening its mouth—only for Mugeng to flash by with the Demon Sword. The brilliant sword light struck like divine thunder, instantly slicing the bug in two. The large bug fell dead, becoming a corpse.

“Phew———!”

Seeing the bug eliminated, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, while so curiously eyed the strange-shaped Demon Sword in Mugeng’s hand. They couldn’t penetrate this monster’s hide with bullets, yet this girl cut it in half with a single stroke?

“Thank you.”

Dr. Serizawa finally caught his breath, aware that he was just sitting on this creature. Fortunately, it was only a large bug and apparently without other abilities. If it had bitten him… The thought made Dr. Serizawa tremble, and he expressed his gratitude to Mugeng.

Then, he turned his gaze towards the other researchers.

“Quickly collect samples for preservation and analysis!”

“Yes.”

The researchers no longer spoke, quickly pulling out instrunts and gathering around. They might not have the soldiers’ combat skills, but as for collecting samples for analysis and research—well, they were experts.

Indeed, professional tasks should be done by professionals.

Duanmu Huai glanced at the bug’s corpse, then looked away, scanning the surroundings. At that mont, his personal terminal’s communication suddenly rang. Duanmu Huai connected the call, and soon, Mary’s face appeared before him.

“Ah, Mr. Duanmu, sorry to interrupt. You’re not busy, are you?”

“Not really, we’re currently resting on a southern island. What’s up?”

“Miss Kumiko has made her decision.”

Mary’s voice carried a hint of joy.

“She just inford the group in the club that she will face Kuroe Mayu head-on, before the next performance.”

“Oh? You an……”

Hearing this, Duanmu Huai paused for a mont, then understood.

“She wants to recreate the duel between Nakaseko Kaori and Kousaka Rina from before, right.”

At that ti, Duanmu Huai rembered it was a face-to-face duel on stage. The selection was conducted individually, so only the scoring teacher and the student knew what happened in the room. While this protected individual privacy to so extent, it also allowed rumors to spread.

For instance, Kousaka Rina used to face similar speculation because of her acquaintance with Tasuku. No one could confirm whether Tasuku had favored her, and so, Duanmu Huai decided to stage a face-off with Nakaseko Kaori in front of everyone for clarity. After the duel, no one opposed Rina’s solo performance again.

Now it seems Huang’zen Kumiko also intends to recreate this mont.

“But Kuroe Mayu seems to be the tricky one.”

Mary’s voice turned sowhat helpless.

“She seems reluctant to compete and even expressed willingness to forfeit… Currently, Miss Kumiko is trying to persuade her.”

“Such individuals are troubleso, but since Kumiko has decided, let her handle it.”

“Okay, Mr. Duanmu, I’ll keep observing.”

After the conversation ended, Duanmu Huai terminated the communication and looked at the group again, noticing the researchers had finished collecting their samples.

Duanmu Huai lifted the War Hamr and waved his hand.

“Alright, let’s continue our journey!”
