Garrett rushed to Archmage Edgar, holding a cat tightly in his arms.
He rembered Lynn ntioning once that Mr. Troka was a young magical beast that Archmage Edgar and his friends had captured specifically to protect Lynn. Now that there was a problem, perhaps Archmage Edgar would know how to save it?
Unfortunately, Edgar did not know either. The archmage circled Mr. Troka three tis, his thick eyebrows furrowing as he continuously shook his head:
"I'm not skilled in treating magical beasts either. Did Lynn get into trouble? Did it run back to report? — I'll take you to soone else to have a look..."
Garrett followed him out. Archmage Edgar led him through a corridor made of bones, glass jars, and various internal organs, mumbling as they walked:
"Let think, Old Fritz from the Conjuration School is the best at summoning and contracting magical beasts, and Vieri from the Transmutation School specializes in human transformation and is very familiar with various magical beasts..."
They first went to the Tower of All Spells, but Archmage Fritz said he was powerless;
Then they went to the Transmutation School, where Archmage Vieri put on a pair of special glasses and placed Mr. Troka into a large magic apparatus that looked like a ventilated cabinet. Once the door was closed and the colorful magic array was activated, Garrett's eyes lit up:
The light that continuously expanded and contracted on Mr. Troka's body was fixed in one place!
Archmage Vieri rotated the lenses a few tis, then continuously chanted spells and made gestures towards the "ventilated cabinet." He cast a spell, moved two steps, adjusted the lenses; then cast another spell, moved two steps, and adjusted the magic array...
His glasses had ten or so lenses layered on top of each other, each with small handles and engravings for rotation. The colorful lights reflected off the archmage's face, making it appear multicolored, and his glasses looked just like the compound eyes of a dragonfly.
With the archmage's observation and adjustnts, the magical light in the "ventilated cabinet" surged like tides. Finally, all the power wove into a large net, pressing inward bit by bit, deeply perating Mr. Troka's body—
Gradually, a small black kitten with a white scarf and white gloves lay weakly at the bottom of the "ventilated cabinet." Its eyes were tightly closed, and it didn't move at all, its cries so weak they were barely audible.
"It's better!"
Garrett exclaid in surprise. Archmage Vieri shook his head:
"I only stabilized its condition temporarily. Although this little guy is a magical beast, it has been influenced by so otherworldly power and is not entirely a creature of flesh and blood. That's why it could escape, but to truly heal it, you'd better find a higher-level mage to take a look..."
Garrett and Archmage Edgar exchanged glances, seeing the difficulty in each other's eyes. Archmage Vieri was already level 15; to find soone higher...
That would an finding soone at level 17 or 18, who were already exploring the path to legend, or even outright legends!
"You've already helped a lot! Thank you very much!"
Garrett bowed deeply, holding the black cat. He took off his mage badge, intending to pay, but Archmage Vieri smiled and shook his head:
"No, I didn't do much. — No need to pay, just give a chance for a free treatnt."
"Of course!" Garrett rejoiced. He quickly wrote a note, stamped it with a secret seal, and handed it over with one hand while holding the cat with the other, bowing again:
"You, or anyone from your mage tower, or your friends, can co with this note for a free treatnt!"
He bid farewell to Archmage Vieri and headed straight for the Tower of Heaven. He was lucky, having to wait only three hours before the Lord of Thunder finished an experint and summoned him in:
"What's the matter?"
"Teacher, please save it!" Garrett paced nervously in the reception room, already impatient, leaving a circular mark on the carpet. When he finally got the teacher's summons, he imdiately held out Mr. Troka, lifting it high in his palms:
"Mr. Troka is Brother Lynn's contracted magical beast! It ran back from a great distance, saying Brother Lynn was in trouble, and then it collapsed!"
"Lynn... oh, the one who guided you to beco a mage." The Lord of Thunder recalled, nodding slightly. He pushed up his monocle and focused his gaze. Soon, a strand of silver-white electric light burst out on the transparent lens.
Garrett held his breath and waited. The Lord of Thunder observed for a mont, then slightly raised his hand, and Mr. Troka floated in the air, slowly rotating. Garrett instinctively cast a Detect Magic spell, his eyes widening imdiately:
Inside the kitten, thin threads ran from its limbs to its core. Larger light spots, like beads on a string, were connected by these threads. All the threads ultimately converged at the deepest part of its body, on the brightest cluster of light.
—And now, a large chunk of that light cluster was missing, as if bitten off. A misty glow continuously seeped from the gap, flowing outward, only to be forcefully pushed back inside by the bright threads encircling it.
"Did you see clearly?"
The Lord of Thunder suddenly asked. Garrett quickly nodded, and the Lord of Thunder gave him a satisfied look, pointing at the black cat:
"A piece of its 'existence' has been torn away. Not to ntion that guy can't handle it, even I can only temporarily stabilize its state, not replenish it out of thin air. Of course, if you find the missing part, it can still recover—so you're going to rescue soone?"
"Of course! It's Brother Lynn who's in trouble!"
Garrett answered without hesitation. The Lord of Thunder pondered for a mont:
"You're level 9 now. In the New World, as long as you're clever, there shouldn't be any major issues. But, whatever can tear away a piece of 'existence' either has to be level 15 or higher, or have very strange thods. Are you prepared?"
"I will be ready!"
"Then go."
The Lord of Thunder waved his hand casually. Garrett bowed, retrieved the black cat, and turned to leave. After two steps, he suddenly looked back:
"Teacher!"
"Yes?"
"Teacher, my hospital... I'll have to trouble you to keep an eye on it while I'm in the New World..."
"Get lost!"
Garrett, holding the black cat, sped out of the office. He then sneaked downstairs to knock on the doors of his senior brother and sister:
"I'm going on an adventure in the New World... Senior Brother and Sister, could you help out?"
"What do you need?" Archmage Byerbo had already placed one hand on his space bag. Senior Sister Philby pressed down on his arm, asking Garrett seriously:
"Equipnt? Potions? Assistants? Spell books? When are you leaving? Make a list, and we'll try to gather what you need!"
As she said each word, Garrett shook his head. When she finished, Garrett placed the black cat on the ground and extended both hands:
"Everything else is in order. I just don't have ti to research constant spells myself, Senior Brother and Sister, could you help gather a set?"
