To be honest, She didn’t believe Lu Zhaoming would really co over, but before New Year’s, He had been looking for her nonstop, trying again and again to win her back, and She had turned Him down every ti.
Mr. Qin ca out of the kitchen and heard the relatives all talking over each other. His face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. "If everyone thinks the food at my place is that bad, I won’t force you to eat it."
"Old Qin, we’re only doing this for Xi Xi’s own good." Third Aunt said unhappily.
"For Xi Xi’s good? So that gives you the right to scold her without knowing the truth? I know exactly what kind of person my daughter is."
Third Uncle saw his brother-in-law was angry and glared at Third Aunt. "If you keep stirring up trouble here, then get back ho."
Third Aunt had always been afraid of her husband. Seeing he was upset, she didn’t dare talk back and sat on the sofa in sullen silence.
Third Uncle imdiately apologized to Mr. Qin. Mr. Qin kept a straight face, still clearly displeased.
At the elevator, the doors opened. Qin Xi was about to step in when She saw Lu Zhaoming standing inside, dressed in a black overcoat, hands full of big and small gift bags.
Seeing her, He lit up with surprise. "Xi Xi."
Qin Xi looked at Him coldly. "What are you doing here?"
"I ca to pay New Year’s respects to Uncle and Auntie." Lu Zhaoming said earnestly. "I actually wanted to co on the second day of the new year, but sothing held up."
"No need." Qin Xi said icily.
Lu Zhaoming sounded a little aggrieved. "Xi Xi, I just wanted to co wish them a happy New Year, that’s all."
Qin Xi found it ridiculous. "Co wish them a happy New Year? What makes you think you have the right to?"
"Xi Xi, I’ve already divorced Cheng Baozhu."
"Whether you married her or divorced her has nothing to do with . My family doesn’t welco you. Leave." Qin Xi stood in the elevator doorway, blocking his way.
Lu Zhaoming pleaded, "Xi Xi, it’s the New Year, can’t we not talk about this?"
"Am I the one bringing it up, or are you?" Qin Xi shot back.
Lu Zhaoming choked on that, glanced at the gifts in his hands, and said, "Xi Xi, you can’t expect to just stand in the elevator forever, right?"
"No, I can’t, which is exactly why you can leave now."
"Xi Xi..."
Qin Xi’s brows drew together. "If you insist I have to beat you up before you’ll go, I don’t mind."
As She spoke, She flexed Her wrist.
Seeing she ant it, and thinking of the guests in her ho, He understood it was only natural she didn’t want Him going up.
"What about these gifts then?"
"Either take them with you or toss them in the trash. Pick one."
Lu Zhaoming was speechless and could only press the button to go down.
Qin Xi watched the elevator go down and stayed where She was, just in case Lu Zhaoming tried to fake her out.
She wasn’t soone with a fragile ego, but She would never allow Lu Zhaoming to step into her ho and trample on her dignity.
Inside, when they saw Qin Xi co back, soone asked, "Xi Xi, where’s Lu Zhaoming?"
Qin Xi looked at her in complete puzzlent. "Lu Zhaoming? Was he here? Uncle must’ve mistaken soone else for him. I cut ties with him a long ti ago."
The others all turned to look at her uncle. His heart skipped a beat. Had he really mistaken soone? No way, he’d seen Lu Zhaoming several tis before.
He said out loud, "I must’ve gotten it wrong then."
