Now reading: Chapter 132: He Just Can’t Be Cruel to Her from A Night of Desire, a Romance novel by Lu Qianchi.

Seth Quinn went downstairs, got into his car, but didn’t drive away imdiately.

The good mood he’d had on his way upstairs had now turned to irritation. He subconsciously pulled a pack of cigarettes from the glove compartnt, lit one, and placed it between his lips.

He wasn’t really a heavy smoker, only having a cigarette on rare occasions.

But after eting Clara Grant, he seed to be smoking more often.

’Co to think of it, there weren’t any major conflicts between him and Clara Grant. Other than her mistakenly thinking Cherie was his illegitimate child from so affair, her belief that he had stolen her precious first night, and the fact that he had used so... unconventional thods to trick her into marriage...’

But from Seth Quinn’s perspective, none of these were really major issues.

’Misunderstandings could eventually be cleared up. And as for tricking her into marriage, hadn’t she been well compensated for it?’

’The wife of Aegis’s president—how many won dread of that title?’

In fact, Seth Quinn even felt he had been rciful and patient enough with her. He had originally married her to satisfy his own physical needs, yet when she was unwilling, he had actually managed to suppress his body’s desires and let her go. He’d even straightened her clothes, given her ti, and allowed her to ntally prepare herself?

’When had he ever compromised or been this patient with a woman?’

But what could he do? Deep down, he subconsciously didn’t want to force her. When he saw her fearful, deathly-resigned expression, his heart ached uncontrollably, and he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Seth Quinn didn’t think he had fallen in love with her, at least not to the point of being deeply in love, but he just couldn’t bring himself to be cruel to her!

Seth Quinn let out a soft sigh. Through the smoke-filled car, he glanced up in the direction of Clara Grant’s apartnt.

After a mont, he retracted his gaze, thought for a bit, then started the car, made a U-turn, and drove out of the residential complex.

Upstairs, Clara Grant had no idea how long she had been in a daze before the sudden ringing of her phone pulled her back to her senses. She picked it up chanically and pressed the answer key.

Sarah Shelby’s voice imdiately ca pouring out of the receiver. She chattered away, but what Clara Grant gathered was this: Sarah had been gone for two days to smooth things over after a small disagreent with her father, and the mont she returned, she heard about the serious slander against Clara on the school forums.

Perhaps because the ordeal was over, Clara Grant no longer felt the sa fear she had before. She nonchalantly pursed her lips and said, "It gets worse. You have no idea, I was nearly expelled by Director Conway and Vice Principal Chandler."

Unexpectedly, Sarah Shelby replied, "I know about that. But thankfully, you ca out of it unscathed in the end."

"How do you know?"

Clara Grant froze. The business with Director Conway and Vice Principal Chandler trying to expel her had happened in private. There hadn’t been ti for a school-wide announcent. Logically, only four people should have known about it: herself, Director Conway, Vice Principal Chandler, and Miles Quinn.

"Did Miles Quinn tell you?"

"Miles Quinn told what?" Sarah Shelby’s voice was incredulous. "You don’t know yet? Haven’t you seen the school’s announcent? It’s written plain as day on the school forum’s bulletin board.

"Soone maliciously slandered you, and Director Conway and Vice Principal Chandler, as school leaders, didn’t actively investigate the truth or grant justice to the slandered student. Instead, they nearly wronged an innocent person and made a huge mistake.

"Now, Director Conway has been fired, and Vice Principal Chandler has been demoted. As for the person who published the article and photos to spread the rumors, they’ve been dealt with in the most severe way possible—not only expelled, but also arrested for slander and defamation."

"What?" Clara Grant’s hand trembled, and she almost dropped her phone.
