"Whoa, Chase Childs, you really do have a crush on soone?" River Sterling had only ant to tease him, but seeing his reaction, he imdiately sensed so gossip was ripe for the picking.
"Quick, quick, tell your big bro! Let the rest of us be happy for you too. To think our blockhead Chase is finally getting spring fever!"
But Chase Childs’s reply was firm. "No one."
River Sterling grinned and turned to Clara Grant. "Hey, Clara, you two ca together. Did he et any girls before?"
Clara Grant wouldn’t have thought of it if he hadn’t asked, but his question reminded her of the incident at the film studio with Chase Childs and Holly Sumrs.
’I think after Holly Sumrs ran off, Chase Childs even stared for a few extra monts before reluctantly getting into the car. Could it be...’
Clara Grant subconsciously glanced at Chase Childs. When she saw him looking at her with pleading eyes, she understood. The great Assistant Childs really had taken a fancy to Holly Sumrs.
’She couldn’t stop laughing to herself, but she felt it would be best to wait for the right mont and let him confess on his own. That would be better for Holly Sumrs, too.’
"Clara, say sothing," River Sterling urged when she remained silent.
"Well..." Clara Grant deliberately dragged it out, building the suspense. ’After all, wasn’t Chase Childs the one who practically dragged here against my will? Letting him sweat for a mont would be a fitting punishnt.’
Just as she thought Chase Childs’s eyes were about to pop out of his head, she calmly uttered the final two words, "No one."
Chase Childs let out a long sigh of relief. ’He wasn’t even sure if he actually liked Holly Sumrs. It was just that from the mont he saw her today, she was all he could think about. The re thought of her made him feel incredibly happy.’
’It wasn’t their first ti eting, so it couldn’t be love at first sight, right? And while they’d known each other for a long ti, they hadn’t seen each other often, so it couldn’t be a case of affection growing over ti, either.’
Chase Childs himself was a bit lost.
Seeing he couldn’t dig up any gossip, River Sterling laughed, said, "How boring," and turned his attention to the karaoke.
Poppy Vance had already picked a song. She had soone turn off the main lights, leaving just a few dim spotlights on to create a better atmosphere for singing.
Poppy Vance loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. The mont she began, the others were captivated, completely imrsed in her performance.
Thinking about Holly Sumrs just now reminded Clara Grant of sothing else. She put down what she was holding, dusted off her hands, and pulled out her phone to send Holly Sumrs a ssage:
—Traitor, don’t you dare tell anyone that Assistant Childs picked up today.
Holly’s reply ca back quickly. First, there was a pouting emoji, followed by:
—Dearest, I’m innocent! Got it, don’t worry, Clara. Hope you and President Quinn have a wonderful date!
It ended with a sleazy-looking emoji.
Clara Grant grimaced at the ssage on her screen, clearly displeased. After a mont’s thought, she replied:
—Do you have a thing for Assistant Childs or sothing? Why are you helping him instead of ?
Holly replied instantly:
—How am I helping him? I’m helping YOU, okay? Helping you and President Quinn make it official!
Clara was about to type sothing else, but another ssage from Holly ca through:
—I gotta start filming, can’t talk now, bye!
"Who are you texting?" Seth Quinn’s head suddenly leaned in, startling her so much she nearly threw her phone.
She pretended to be calm as she slipped the phone into her pocket and replied coolly with two words, "No one."
Then she went back to eating.
Seth Quinn’s hand brushed against the object in his pocket. ’If I give her the gift,’ he thought, ’she won’t be mad at anymore, right?’
So, under the cover of darkness, he stealthily took out the brocade box. Just as he was about to extend it toward Clara Grant, she abruptly stood up.
