Chapter 45 : They really look alike
Noticing Iphilia’s distracted state, Lina leaned in with a teasing smile, her suggestive gaze making Iphilia break out in a cold sweat.
She tried to stay calm, forcibly averting her eyes to avoid Lina’s stare.
“Ahem! Lina, what are you talking about? How could I possibly have soone I like? I’m a staunch believer in staying single!”
“You·are·lying~ My dear Sister Iphilia, your eyes have completely betrayed you, haven’t they?”
Lina nudged Iphilia with her elbow, her lovely face brimming with smugness.
“Wha… what eyes!? I-I-I-I… I just suddenly rembered so troubleso stuff, that’s all!”
Her thoughts exposed, Iphilia panicked.
She coughed dryly, trying to mask her fluster but her acting was frankly terrible—the more she tried to cover it up, the wider Lina’s grin grew.
Clearly, this was a case of “no silver here, three hundred taels.”
“No… no way? Iphie, you don’t actually…”
Nolen, seated across from them, covered her mouth in surprise, her words dealing Iphilia a fatal blow: Was my performance really that bad? How did even the ever-adorable, airheaded Nolen-chan notice!?
“Hehe, even my mistress can tell. Sister Iphilia, stop pretending~ My love expertise is pretty impressive, you know~ Quick, tell us who it is, and I’ll be your—love·advisor~”
Lina leaned close to Iphilia’s ear, deliberately emphasizing each word.
A wave of intense sha flooded Iphilia’s mind.
Her face flushed bright red, tears welled in her eyes, and her ears felt hot.
“I… I…”
“Uh, alright, Lina, stop teasing Iphie. You’re about to make her cry (whispers)…”
Seeing Iphilia on the verge of bursting into tears, Nolen stepped in to smooth things over.
anwhile, our dear maid, Miss Lola, had been quietly observing from the side.
Noticing Iphilia’s ear-reddening embarrassnt and her princess’s tily rescue, Lola’s myriad thoughts coalesced into a single sentence: Miss Iphilia and Her Highness the Princess are so alike…
Be it their weak, receptive nature or their tsundere personalities, they truly lived up to their bestie status.
But thinking about it, could the person Iphilia likes be a sly fox like Miss Lina?
Hmm… But for soone to catch the eye of Iphilia, the Hell Princess herself, they must be an incredibly adorable girl, right?
As for Iphilia liking a boy, Lola didn’t even consider the possibility.
After all, as the saying goes, yuri attracts yuri… Pfft, no, no! If it were a boy, Iphilia’s father would likely never approve, right?
Just like how His Majesty unhesitatingly rejected all the dukes’ marriage proposals for the princess, yet greatly approved of her relationship with Miss Lina after Lola’s report.
Though His Majesty was quite displeased that the princess was the “bottom” in the relationship…
…
anwhile, as Iphilia suffered Lina’s relentless teasing at Nolen’s mansion, our Miss angel encountered sothing strange.
“Have I… been here before?”
Aimiya gazed at the vaguely familiar alley, lost in thought.
It was the weekend, and Aimiya had originally planned to invite Iphilia out for a date to bond… Pfft, no, just a “perfectly normal” stroll to have Iphilia show her around the city.
But Iphilia heartlessly told her she was going to a tea party at her bestie’s place!
How could Aimiya stand for that? She imdiately declared that it was just a tea party—she’d go too!
Then, Iphilia chewed her out and left her behind at ho, making Aimiya so mad she swore to give Iphilia a piece of her mind when she returned that night.
But even though Iphilia left her alone at ho, Aimiya still needed to eat.
So, taking advantage of the bright afternoon sun, she followed a “Wangyou City Travel Guide” she found online and visited various trendy snack shops to sample local delicacies.
She had to admit, the guide didn’t lie—the food was pretty good.
The only thing that surprised her was spotting a little girl who vaguely resembled her teacher, Seraph Gabriel, while shopping.
The girl wore a cute cap that didn’t quite fit, completely obscuring her face, so Aimiya couldn’t see her clearly.
But Aimiya didn’t think it could be her teacher.
After all, her teacher was a six-winged seraph—why would she casually visit the human world?
Besides, given her teacher’s childish personality, Aimiya figured Lady Mikaili would never allow her to co to the human world for fun.
After a pleasant afternoon of shopping, Aimiya headed ho contentedly with her snacks.
Since her place was in what counted as half of Wangyou City’s old town, she had to pass through so winding, aged alleys.
Aimiya had heard that these alleys were slated for demolition, but due to the rise of old-town tourism, most were preserved as cultural heritage.
During the day, they attracted plenty of visitors, but after the afternoon, they reverted to a cold, deserted state with barely a soul in sight.
Even so, it was still far from evening. There should still be so residents passing through, right?
Looking at the deathly silent old alleys around her, Aimiya thought to herself, puzzled.
And today’s route… wasn’t it a bit too long?
Normally, the walk took about half an hour, so why had she been walking for nearly an hour without seeing the end?
Aimiya felt sothing was off.
She opened her phone’s map navigation, wondering if she’d gotten lost.
But the mont she checked, her pupils shrank in shock.
The navigation showed she wasn’t in the old town at all.
She was… on the outskirts of the city, near an abandoned old factory…
What… was going on?
