388: Chapter 360: You Can’t Ambush the Prophet (3/3) 388: Chapter 360: You Can’t Ambush the Prophet (3/3) The small, jungle-covered hill was inconspicuous, the entrance completely obscured by bushes and trees, to say nothing of the myriad venomous miasma traps scattered around the hillside or the deadly poison insects flitting about.
Without the proper protective gear or being covered in a clay mbrane to mask their scent, ordinary people would swell up and die halfway back ho from just one circuit inside.
Such dens of miasma and poison insects were not uncommon in South Ridge, and with the frequent presence of Magical Beasts, normal rchants and Hunters avoided exploring this area.
After all, with the forest so vast, why go looking for trouble?
Surely, such a setup would deter ninety-nine percent of visitors, Magical Beasts included.
Yet evidently, this dense, concentric circle of natural defenses had one significant flaw: it only reacted to living things—explosives and bombs not included.
Consequently, there ca a roar!
“An attack!
Ugh…”
The sizzling noise scythed through the forest shrouded in night, followed by a violent explosion and the urgent sound of an alarm whistle.
The sentinel of Fiery Fla Land had barely uttered a word before losing his breath.
“Who’s attacking?!
The power of these Alchemical Bombs is imnse, to the point that the final explosions are comparable to that of an Alchemical Cannon!”
The swarthy soldier who had just left the cave to prepare traps was filled with shock and fury.
Had he been any closer, he would have been caught in the blast, if not killed then severely injured!
And soone had managed to silently take care of the sentries hidden in the jungle?
Impossible, their stealth attire could even conceal body heat, making them undetectable to thermal vision and night vision alike!
With this thought, he imdiately raised his hand and a faint grey Origin Quality flared and flickered on his body as if issuing a command.
—Now that they had been discovered, there was no point in hiding.
Under the orders of the overseer, the Fiery Fla Land outpost that had been hidden for years began operating at full capacity.
Buzzing, a swarm of venomous bees that resembled both bees and spiders and reeked of blood were released, their piercing, chaotic hum grating on the ears.
On the ground, bizarre lumpy-headed black snakes whose spitting hisses dropped acid and corroded leaves had appeared who knows when.
Not to ntion that several odd-colored trees around the periter suddenly spouted large amounts of dark purple miasma from hollows along their trunks—trap techniques stolen from the Redwood Natives by these Fiery Fla Land special forces, who had even optimized them!
It might just be poisonous insects, snakes, and gas, but ordinary First Energy Level beings wouldn’t fare well against them either.
The special forces infiltrating South Ridge consisted of two large teams and six small teams, each mber an elite among elites.
Besides the newly arrived Spirit Energy User overseeing from a vantage point and his guards, the swarthy soldier who was in charge of the local intelligence was an outstanding graduate from the Desolate Sea City Royal Academy’s departnt of Bio-Alchemy.
An expert in toxins and biological modification, all he needed was to earn achievents and write a paper on biological warfare to be promoted to a military scholar upon his return!
Buzz!
Under the control of the pheromones released by the swarthy soldier’s Origin Quality, the venomous bees and snakes began to weave and dash near the hill, morphing into a dark, wicked gust.
Wherever they passed, vegetation withered, poison gas perated, and many birds toppled to the ground before they could fly away, only to be gnawed to bone.
His Bloodline Inheritance, the ‘Imperial Wasp Spider,’ was a type of Magical Beast that could naturally control nearby insects and even animals using scent and pheromones and use its prey as a breeding ground for its progeny, the ‘Chenfeng Spiders.’
Unfortunately, his Power Level was too low, limiting the number of Chenfeng Spiders he could control, so he had to substitute them with local Rotten Snakes.
However, the venom he had improved in the spiders was potent enough to paralyze an ox, and anyone he discovered was sure to et a dreadful fate!
Regrettably, his opponents were not planning to show themselves.
In the distant forest, accompanied by the sound of Alchemical Potions being loaded, a bright, fiery-red pillar of alchemical fire shot straight through the jungle toward him!
This blaze was terrifying; even a re graze set the trees in its path ablaze, and although the humidity of South Ridge prevented widespread fire, the re ability to ignite was proof of its horror.
The swarthy soldier, forewarned of the attack, imdiately lunged to the side to dodge, causing the fire pillar to miss and rely burn in place.
Simultaneously, the Chenfeng Spiders morphed into a black whirlwind, hurtling toward the direction from which the fire had co.
—If only he could entangle them…
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the swarthy man heard another strange noise.
Sizzle—boom!
This ti the water stream was three tis faster than before, and before he could react, a numbness struck his neck.
A high-speed water blade sliced through the air like a heavy armor-piercing arrow, blasting through his neck with even greater force.
His Adam’s apple, cervical vertebra, and a mist of blood erupted in unison, splattering against the stone wall behind him, like a blossom of blood.
—The fire before…
was for illumination and trajectory adjustnt…
—Why…
so fast…
With only ti for these thoughts, the swarthy soldier’s head was left hanging by a flap of skin; his body fell to the side, the impact ripping even that bit of skin and causing his head to roll away.
Boom!
It was in this mont that a burly figure and an old Spirit Energy User finally blasted open the earth covering the cave entrance.
By chance, a pitch-black head stopped at their feet, causing the Spirit Energy User and his guards to pale and go on the defensive.
