The movie ended.

But Gloria still couldn't snap out of it. Her knees felt weak, and she remained lost in the images, floating in the clouds, sowhere between a dream and reality, unable to fully return to her senses.

Perhaps so might wonder—

Why do these youthful romantic codies always have such a lasting appeal?

Going back further, there were films from the 80s like *Sixteen Candles*, *Pretty in Pink*, and *Ferris Bueller's Day Off*.

More recently, films from the late 90s like *Clueless*, *10 Things I Hate About You*, and *Bring It On*.

Then, in 2004, *an Girls* was released, becoming a cultural phenonon that continues to be discussed even twenty years later. Every year on April 30th, fans revive mories of *an Girls*, creating endless discussions around the film.

These are not rely romantic movies but rather high school codies.

The reason for their enduring appeal is not complicated.

These films vividly depict the troubles, confusion, and growth of every teenager. They create a utopia in a light and stylish manner, resonating deeply with teenagers. These movies offer them a fairytale escape through love, friendship, and family.

Rather than just love stories, they are youth films—a special kind of romantic cody that will always have an audience.

*The Princess Diaries* is no exception.

Mia represents countless ordinary girls. She has her own anxieties and struggles—not just about her appearance and body image but also about social fears and growing pains. She dreams, crushes on people, and wishes she were special, only to be swallowed by her own self-doubt.

Then one day, the most romantic, wild, and impossible dream cos true—

She becos a princess.

She faces trials, challenges, and setbacks, but ultimately, she grows. By the end of her teenage years, all the questions are answered, and she transforms, like a butterfly erging from its chrysalis.

It's not just about love, friendship, and family—it's also about Mia finally finding herself. "Who am I?" Those growing pains lead to her tamorphosis.

Maybe the movie isn't complicated, but this fairytale-like story, which also contains reality and subtle truths, effortlessly enchants the audience. Viewers truly believe Mia is real and that they, too, could beco the next Mia.

The movie may have ended on the big screen, but in real life, the imaginations of every girl in the audience had just begun. Dreams were becoming reality, and with hearts racing, they were utterly imrsed, every cell in their bodies feeling the truth that the film conveyed—

This is the magic of cinema.

It's not so much the story, the plot, or the actors' charm but the ability of cinema to let people dream. It makes them believe that dreams can co true, that the limit of their imagination leads to a real world, and that beyond the light and shadows, such a world truly exists.

So, films shouldn't just be "watched" but rather felt and experienced.

The lights slowly ca on.

Gloria imdiately saw Anson sitting in the front row—tall, lean, and effortlessly standing out in the crowd with a gentle smile on his lips. Even in a room full of people, he caught her eye as if he had just stepped out of the movie screen:

Too perfect to be real, yet terrifyingly real at the sa ti.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Gloria could clearly hear her own heartbeat pounding in her chest, and then she heard a girl's voice calling out.

"Michael!"

Anson turned around abruptly.

In that instant, the theater erupted in screams of "Ah!" and "Aaaah!"

Anson's eyes softened, and he smiled, waving towards the source of the sound. In the next mont, the screams completely spiraled out of control.

"AAAAAH!"

The theater was a whirlwind of excitent.

Gloria was in a daze, staring at Anson's figure, listening to the pounding of her heart in her ears. Ti and space seed to lose all aning. Despite the distance, she felt even more excited and elated than when she had seen Anson up close at the Burbank studio.

Everything felt surreal, like a dream.

--

As a result, all subsequent mories were completely blank. After the premiere, there was still a segnt for interaction and discussion, but Gloria had no idea what had happened.

When she finally ca to her senses again, Gloria was already standing outside the Chief Theater—

The premiere was over.

The bustling crowd was still reluctant to leave, standing at the theater entrance, chattering away. Faces full of enthusiasm and excitent were everywhere.

"Ah, Mia is so beautiful, so beautiful, really so beautiful."

"Even though I'm a girl, I've fallen in love with her too."

"Honestly, it's the first ti I've ever thought a girl was so pretty. She really is captivating."

"And she's a princess, ahhh!"

"And she has Michael."

There was a pause, a brief silence in the conversation, then after exchanging glances, everyone reacted in unison:

Screaming.

"Ahhh!"

"Ahhh!"

Like lovesick fans, they clutched their faces, covered their hearts, and scread in ecstasy.

"Michael, Michael is just perfect."

"Oh God, please give a Michael, and I'll go to church every Sunday for the next year."

"I can't. Just thinking about Michael makes my knees weak. How can Michael be so handso? Ahhh."

"This is crazy. During the movie, I was just staring at Michael and drooling."

"Actually, I liked Michael even before he transford..."

"Yes, yes, yes, Michael is just too good-looking. How can he be so good-looking!"

Madness, complete madness.

One, two, three, four, five, six, all of them were wildly gesticulating and passionately sharing their opinions. It didn't matter if they were strangers; as long as they had a common topic, they could connect. Even though the movie had ended, they were still reluctant to leave, desperate to share and resonate with others.

However.

Gloria was still a bit dazed—

Everything was just too wonderful, like a dream. After leaving the screening room, her steps were light as if walking on clouds, not wanting to wake up, with her mind buzzing, emotions surging uncontrollably. Although she wasn't thinking of anything in particular, the happiness was so intense that every cell in her body was screaming.

At that mont.

There was a brief pause in the screams, creating a short vacuum in front of the Chief Theater, only to be drowned out by screams and cheers in the next second.

Completely out of control, "Ahhh," "Ahhh," the excitent kept rising, releasing an unbelievable amount of energy.

Instinctively, Gloria looked in the direction of the outburst and saw a black car parked on Hollywood Boulevard.

The rear window was down, and the moonlight outlined Anson's slightly tired but still handso face. Even without bright lights, his features were clearly visible, and his lips curled up in a smile, with his eyes still bright.

"You should go ho soon. It's late; stay safe."

His slightly low voice, due to tiredness, resonated slightly in the air, causing all the girls at the theater entrance to lose their minds completely.

Gloria was utterly stunned, forgetting even to step forward, just staring blankly at Anson's face in the night:

Is this a dream, or reality?
