Lin Mo quickly got up and walked over to the motionless Millian.
It didn’t take him long to find the reason.
The backpack Millian wore had been shattered by the Giant Axe’s blow, its contents spilling onto the ground. The most eye-catching item among the scattered belongings was a grayish-blue Treasure Chest.
A red insignia on the Treasure Chest was slowly fading, and at the sa ti, a crack was rapidly spreading across its side.
Lin Mo thought he understood what had happened.
Perhaps the Secret Realm’s creator had placed so sort of Magic Protection on the chest. The Minotaur’s axe had struck it directly, but the protection had kept the chest from being destroyed outright.
But now that the Demon was defeated, the Magic Protection had vanished, causing the chest to break apart.
He looked down at Millian on the ground. Her eyes were closed and her face was pale. Blood trickled from her eyes, nose, and mouth, staining her Leather Armor red. But he could see the faint, shallow rise and fall of her chest.
By a strange twist of fate, the Treasure Chest she had been carrying had saved her life!
Wasting no more ti, Lin Mo quickly gathered the scattered materials from the ground. After a brief search of the chamber, he soon found the Bronze Treasure Chest belonging to the room.
After grabbing everything, he carried Millian and stepped into the rift at the far end of the room.
It felt much like entering the Secret Realm: a brief sense of nothingness, followed by a dizzying, weightless sensation...
「anwhile, in Loran Forest.」
Evan, who had just woken up, struggled to swallow the last of the Life Potion. A cool sensation imdiately spread through his body, and the intense pain wracking him lessened considerably.
Bain hadn’t taken any potion. His injuries were also severe, but his Constitution was high enough that he could endure it.
There wasn’t much Life Potion left; it had to be saved for those who needed it most.
Cody had his own potion. The bottle he pulled from his inner lining was clearly quite old, and only a tenth of the red liquid remained—just enough for himself.
After drinking the potion, the two n’s injuries stabilized significantly. Cody leaned against a tree, replaying the earlier brush with death, still frightened.
Evan, however, was completely dazed. He stared at the full moon in the night sky, tears streaming uncontrollably down his face...
He had finally obtained a Skill, and not from a Scroll, but by awakening to it on his own... ’But what does it matter now?’
’Without her, even if I beco a Professional, make a na for myself, and earn all the money in the world, my life will never be complete.’
Bain said nothing, simply staying by his side in silence.
At a ti like this, any words would be hollow. This kind of grief could only be washed away by ti, quietly fading with maturity.
"Lin Mo still hasn’t co out."
Cody frowned, a little worried.
Having adventured for many years, he wasn’t a particularly sentintal person, but he was by no ans an ungrateful one. If it hadn’t been for Lin Mo just now, he would have already died at the hands of the Demon...
"He should be fine."
Bain said this, partly out of trust in Lin Mo, and partly to reassure himself.
Lin Mo had helped them so much along the way... Besides, if sothing happened to him in the Secret Realm, in their current state, just getting back to Roland Town safely would be a problem.
So, for both emotional and practical reasons, he hoped Lin Mo would make it out safely.
But it seed like too much ti had passed...
"He’s here!"
Just as Bain’s worry was mounting, Cody was the first to spot a figure suddenly appear in the rift behind them.
Lin Mo shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose as the intense discomfort slowly faded.
"Millian?!"
Evan, however, imdiately noticed the figure on the ground beside Lin Mo. Ignoring the searing pain in his own body, he scrambled over.
Bain and Cody also wore expressions of astonishnt. ’She took a full blow from that monster’s axe... and she’s okay?’
"This Treasure Chest probably blocked the blow, keeping her from being cut in two..."
Lin Mo took out the Treasure Chest, which was now completely cracked open.
"But judging by her condition, things don’t look good."
Bain frowned. She was indeed still breathing, but if she didn’t receive treatnt soon, that last breath would be gone in half an hour at most.
"We’re out of potions," Cody stated the cruel fact.
"How could this be..."
Evan, who had just been overjoyed that Millian was alive, was instantly plunged back into the abyss.
’Am I going to have to watch Millian die right in front of ?’
He rembered the Life Potion he had just drunk and felt such regret he wanted to run himself through with a Sword. If only he hadn’t drunk that last potion...
"Use mine."
Lin Mo pulled the Life Potion from a pouch inside his Leather Armor at his waist. "It’s unused. This should be enough."
"Thank you! Thank you!"
With tears in his eyes, Evan carefully took the Potion.
"Thanks. We’ll pay you back for the potion."
Bain nodded, then instructed Evan, "Apply it externally first. She’s unconscious. Forcing her to drink it might cause her to suffocate!"
"Okay... okay..."
Startled, Evan quickly stopped his attempt to feed her the potion and instead began to carefully apply it to Millian’s body.
Her internal organs and bones were severely injured, so she needed the potion applied almost all over her body. More than half the bottle was gone in an instant—the equivalent of 10 Gold Coins!
But the results of using such an expensive item were imdiately apparent. Millian’s condition improved significantly. Although she hadn’t woken up, her breathing was much more stable, and her face was no longer so pale.
Bain also drank a little of the potion and was instantly revitalized.
"Let’s go. We should leave this place and find another spot to make camp and rest."
It wasn’t safe to rest near the rift; no one knew if a Demon might suddenly leap out of it in the middle of the night.
They soon found a suitable spot and set up their tents. Evan gently placed Millian on a sleeping bag and began to clean the blood from her body.
Bain and Cody went to set up traps in the surrounding area while Lin Mo started a fire. He then took out the two grayish-blue Treasure Chests from his backpack.
One of them was already cracked, and through the fissure, he could see it was empty inside.
Lin Mo opened the Treasure Chest. As expected, it was a Scroll!
He unrolled the Scroll. At the top, a single word was written in large script—
[Tenacity]
It was a Knight Class skill.
Lin Mo’s eyes lit up. There was finally hope for his Constitution!
’But how do I learn the Skill from a Scroll?’
All of Lin Mo’s current Skills had been gained through comprehension or evolution. He did have a Magic Skill Scroll on him, but he couldn’t understand it at all and had no idea how to use it.
He read on carefully. The first half of the Scroll described so of the core tenets and spirit of the Knight Profession, while the second half detailed the principles, effects, and training thods for the [Tenacity] skill.
But Lin Mo only half-understood it. He didn’t recognize so of the terms, and there seed to be so rather esoteric descriptions, like sothing out of a cultivation novel, that made him shake his head.
’I’ll just ask Uncle Bain later. He should know...’
