Mother-in-law conflicts lead to many divorces, but ultimately, it’s still about the couple’s relationship.
If the couple’s relationship is really good, even if there are conflicts between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law, it’s hard to end in divorce.
However, Chen Feng had no interest in discussing mother-in-law conflicts.
Instead, he asked, "I’ll be thirty this new year, how old will you be?"
The question was a bit impolite, but being on a second marriage, straightforwardness was expected with no room for extended sentintalities. Moreover, this sudden blind date wasn’t taken too seriously by Chen Feng.
It was now just a way to pass the ti.
Lin Yujiao asked with a hint of annoyance, "Do you always talk this directly to people?"
Chen Feng smiled faintly and said, "Is a woman’s age really such a forbidden question? How else can we get to know each other?"
Lin Yujiao then reluctantly said, "I’m twenty-five...years old."
Won are indeed sensitive about their age, especially beautiful ones. Hearing her finally ntion her exact age, Chen Feng almost laughed out loud.
"Oh, so I’m only two years older than you. Counting in whole years, I’m twenty-seven years old this year. My birth month is quite late."
"How late? It’s not New Year’s Eve, is it?"
"Almost, my birthday is the twenty-eighth of the last lunar month."
"Ha ha, that really is a late month. Counting in whole years, you’re really only twenty-seven years old."
Chen Feng smiled, changing the topic to ask, "How’s your clothing store doing now?"
Lin Yujiao shook her head frankly, "Just so-so. There aren’t many people in your town, just a few regulars. It doesn’t do as well as the one I had in the county."
"Why open in our town if the business was better in the county?"
"That store was started with my ex-husband. To get the divorce and avoid entanglents, I had to let him have that store."
"You walked out with nothing?" Chen Feng was sowhat surprised.
"Not really. I got my share, ten thousand. In fact, considering what we earned and the lease paid, I should have gotten at least one hundred fifty or sixty thousand, not to ntion future profits. We had run that store for three to four years and had many regular custors."
"Sounds like you did lose out there."
"Being away from him sooner and never having to see his mother again in my life, the loss was worth it."
"Looks like you really had a big issue with your forr mother-in-law."
"Yes. As I said, the divorce was because of the mother-in-law conflict. So, if I remarry, the first thing is to find soone without a mother-in-law, or at least one with a good temper. Also, I absolutely cannot live with the mother-in-law."
"Uh-huh. Your conditions are reasonable, learning from experiences. Living together with a mother-in-law can indeed easily lead to conflicts. After all, there are generational gaps, different lifestyles, consumption concepts and so on."
"Do you also plan not to live with your parents after getting married?"
Chen Feng shook his head and smiled, "I haven’t even considered getting married again; I’m too lazy to even date."
Lin Yujiao’s brows furrowed slightly at his reply, "Then why bother with a blind date?"
Chen Feng honestly admitted, "It was my mom who arranged it. I didn’t know until I ca back."
"So, you didn’t intend to have this blind date?" Lin Yujiao tightened her lips as she stared at Chen Feng.
Chen Feng shook his head frankly, "I really didn’t plan on this blind date. So, I might be letting you down."
Lin Yujiao’s expression turned slightly sour, but she suddenly smiled again half-jokingly, "Is it because you didn’t find attractive that you’re saying this?"
"Of course not," Chen Feng sincerely said, "You are indeed beautiful, and you have a job, a business, and no children dragging you down. If I were out of the shadow of divorce, you would definitely be my first choice for remarriage. Unfortunately, I’m really a bit scared now. I don’t want to talk about love or get married again. Maybe in a year or two, my mindset might change. But with your good qualities, you probably wouldn’t wait that long for ."
Lin Yujiao smiled sweetly, "The problem is even if I was willing to wait for you for one or two years, you might still stand up. By then, I’d be almost thirty and nowhere to cry about it."
Chen Feng also smiled, "That really might happen."
Lin Yujiao giggled, "You’re really quite interesting."
Chen Feng shrugged, "I’m actually quite dull. If it were any other woman, she would probably have left with a frown by now, but you didn’t. If no one knew better, they might think you’ve already fallen for ."
Regarding Chen Feng’s teasing, Lin Yujiao remained calm; she had gotten used to dealing with all sorts of people from running her clothing store.
"I must say I find you intriguing. And actually, we’ve gotten along quite well so far. I definitely can’t say I like you yet, you’re not Daniel Wu; I can’t just fall for soone at first sight."
Chen Feng touched his face, saying, "Back in high school, many classmates used to call Chen Yanzu."
Lin Yujiao suddenly covered her mouth and giggled, "You really have a thick skin."
Chen Feng earnestly said, "You might not believe it, but when I was thinner in high school, I really did look a lot like Daniel Wu. It’s just because I’ve gained weight that I don’t look like him anymore."
"Alright, alright. I’ll take your word for it. You are sowhat handso. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have talked with you for so long. Can you tell about your previous marriage, how exactly did the divorce happen?"
Chen Feng looked at her and shook his head, "As I said, I’m not here for matchmaking. So, you don’t really need to delve into my affairs."
"Just tell ; it’ll probably make you feel better. That’s what I do; my mood always improves after talking about my forr mother-in-law."
