"Alright then, if you insist on eting my parents, I have no choice. If you want, I can take you to et them right now."
Hearing Chen Feng say this, Guo ngyao’s face finally brightened: "Who visits at night? Let’s do it tomorrow morning. I’ll drive over in the morning. Just send the location then."
"Okay. Co over tomorrow. It’s getting late, and don’t you need to go ho and see your daughter? Let’s go."
Chen Feng stood up again, and this ti she stood up with him.
It was about nine in the evening when he got ho.
The small shop at ho was still open, with a group of old ladies playing mahjong and watching others play. Zhao Xiaolan and Wu ngting were among them. Zhao Xiaolan was playing, and Wu ngting stood behind her, watching and advising.
Wu ngting went to great lengths to please Zhao Xiaolan, this "future mother-in-law."
Originally, she didn’t know how to play mahjong. When she ca to Chen Feng’s house last year, she saw that Zhao Xiaolan liked it, so she learned. She even practiced for a while, often playing online with her phone, and actually developed decent skills.
Now she was more than capable of advising Zhao Xiaolan on mahjong, and naturally, this earned her a lot of favor from Zhao Xiaolan.
While Chen Feng admired her, he couldn’t help but internally call her a "suck-up."
Seeing Chen Feng return, Zhao Xiaolan didn’t even lift an eyelid, remaining focused on her tiles, while Wu ngting simply winked at him without saying anything.
Instead, a few local old ladies joked around with Chen Feng.
"Ah Feng, when are you and Little Ting getting married?"
"Ah Feng, how did you manage to win over such a pretty girl like Little Ting? Why not teach my boy?"
"Little Ting, Ah Feng is back, go with him and don’t help your future mother-in-law anymore."
...
Chen Feng could only smile awkwardly, nodding and greeting these old ladies before quickly heading upstairs to his room.
The newly added room on the first floor was surely occupied by Wu ngting, so he could only sleep in his old room on the second floor.
He took a shower first, then lay down in his room for a short while before Wu ngting ca over.
"Why did you take so long? Were you with ngyao at the hotel until now?"
Wu ngting sat naturally on the edge of the bed and asked Chen Feng casually.
Of course, Chen Feng wasn’t so foolish as to be entirely honest, but he also couldn’t lie to her. So he said, "We hadn’t seen each other for so ti, so we went shopping, then had dinner, and chatted at a tea house until now. By the way, she’s planning to co over to my place tomorrow for a visit and to look around. If you’re free, you could join us."
"Does she know that I’m here?" Wu ngting asked with a slight frown.
"Yes, she knows. I also made it clear to her that we’re just friends, and I told her you’re the designated daughter-in-law by my parents. So, you don’t need to worry. She’s just curious about my ho situation and ca to have a look and play around."
Upon hearing this, Wu ngting seed to relax, smiling as she said, "If she’s really just here to play around, I’d be happy to accompany her. I’m sowhat familiar with the area, and I can be her guide."
"That would be best. Without you along, accompanying her alone wouldn’t look good if seen by people who know ."
"I hope you’ll be mindful of appearances. After all, she’s your high school classmate, and her parents are locals in Lin Nan. I think you shouldn’t get too carried away hanging out with her."
Though Wu ngting had a "gentleman’s agreent" with him, Guo ngyao was still Chen Feng’s high school classmate and a business partner, which understandably made her uneasy.
Moreover, she was not naïve; she knew that Guo ngyao’s visit to Chen Feng’s house wasn’t simply for a look around, especially knowing she was there.
Chen Feng couldn’t do much about it. If possible, he would’ve preferred Guo ngyao not co to his ho.
Wu ngting also talked to Chen Feng about the affairs related to ngyao Costics, ntioning she would take the chance of being back to look into the accounts at ngyao Costics tomorrow. As the second largest shareholder of ngyao Costics, Chen Feng had the right to check the accounts, and as his appointed assistant, it was Wu ngting’s duty.
Chen Feng was not oblivious; this was undoubtedly Wu ngting’s way of countering Guo ngyao, and she did it fittingly.
Both won were no pushovers. Chen Feng just hoped they wouldn’t end up in a big argunt the next day.
After Wu ngting left, Chen Feng replied to a few ssages and then went to bed early.
At seven the next morning, Chen Feng got up on ti. He intended to go for a morning run, but Guo ngyao sent him a ssage early, saying she’d already set off driving to Qingpu Town and asking for his location.
Chen Feng quickly sent her the location along with his ho’s exact address.
By the ti he finished in the bathroom, washed his face, brushed his teeth, and went downstairs for breakfast, just about ten minutes later, another ssage from Guo ngyao ca in, stating she’d arrived and parked her car near an outdoor gym area not far from his house, and asked him to go et her.
She was fast.
So Chen Feng only had ti to tell his mother, who just opened the shop, that a friend was visiting before he went out to et Guo ngyao.
Leaving the house, he quickly spotted Guo ngyao’s BMW X6 from a distance.
Chen Feng quickened his pace to the car and as the door opened, a fully made-up Wu ngyao stepped out.
Today, she was wearing black stockings and high heels, with a white chiffon blouse and brown skirt, exuding an intellectual and elegant vibe.
That made Chen Feng pause for a couple of seconds.
"I bought so gifts for your parents. Could you help get them out of the trunk?"
Guo ngyao naturally instructed Chen Feng.
"Oh, okay." Chen Feng snapped out of it, agreed, and went to the trunk to take out several gift boxes. There were ginseng, bird’s nest, and amino acids— all health supplents.
"I wasn’t sure what your parents like, so I just bought so health supplents."
"Just a couple would be enough. No need for so many; they can’t consu it all."
"It’s necessary. Just help carry them, and let’s go, lead the way."
Guo ngyao, holding two gift boxes in her hands, calmly indicated for Chen Feng to lead the way.
Seeing this, Chen Feng stopped saying more, carried two gift boxes in each hand, and led the way upfront. The click-clack of Guo ngyao’s high-heeled black stockings and her intellectual attire followed behind him.
They reached his ho in less than two minutes.
Under his mother’s stern gaze, Chen Feng braced himself and introduced, "Mom, this is my high school classmate Guo ngyao. She’s over to visit us and hang out with ngting too."
