Listening to the voice on the radio, Xu Pei gripped the handles of her bag, her hands tightening nervously.
As the saying goes, a guilty conscience needs no accuser.
"A bunch of good-for-nothings!" the taxi driver muttered under his breath, "A reward for information, huh, they only know how to waste our taxpayers’ money. With these people, they couldn’t solve a fart of a case..."
"Isn’t there... surveillance?" Xu Pei whispered.
"Surveillance?" the taxi driver snorted, "Let tell you, the caras are only sharp when it cos to catching traffic violations. In cases like this, they don’t work. If there were surveillance, they would have pulled the footage imdiately, why would they need to pay for clues?"
"So you an the surveillance failed?" A glint of joy flashed in Xu Pei’s eyes.
The driver chuckled, "I’m just talking nonsense; who knows..."
Xu Pei also felt she had asked a bit too much and promptly shut her mouth, no longer speaking.
The car made its way into the city, and Xu Pei suddenly changed her mind, "Take to the Workers’ Stadium instead. With what happened in Houhai, I don’t want to go there anymore."
A mont later, the taxi driver stopped at the location she indicated. Xu Pei casually bought a newspaper from the roadside, then took another car to Houhai. As soon as she got on, Zhuo Yannan’s call ca through.
"Director Xu, when are you coming to the office?"

"You don’t know?" Zhuo Yannan asked back.
"Know what?"
Zhuo Yannan hesitated for a mont, and in the end, he did not tell her about Luo Xiaoqian’s disappearance, "Nothing... I just thought that you and President Leng were so close, I assud you knew the inside story. Nothing urgent, rest well, I’ll hang up now!"
"Alright." Xu Pei did not continue to press, and hung up the phone.
Her fingers lightly tapped on the phone screen, her lips slightly upturned, smiling coldly.
Even though Zhuo Yannan didn’t explain, it wasn’t hard to guess from the fragnts he spoke; sothing must have happened to Luo Xiaoqian.
