Iris:
"Yes, he did," she replied. "And like I said, I think you did it because your hopes drowned when he announced the wedding ceremony." She paused. "Fifteen days left. It is very exciting."
I only nodded, tightening my arms around my chest.
"Now you should focus on Luca. It will be good for you," she continued, but this ti there was no smile on her lips.
She tapped her fingers on the doorfra and t my eyes with a long stare.
"Oh, by the way, that is why there is only one bed here. I am sorry. There were no couches to place inside. I hope you two do not mind sharing a bed." She shrugged lightly, pretending to apologize.
Then she stepped back from the door, and before walking away, she uttered, "Have a good rest."
Her heels clicked softly as she walked down the hallway.
Once she was gone, I stood by the bed and exhaled tiredly.
But then, it did not make sense. Why would she assu Luca and I were sleeping together?
Why was she so sure of it?
Was she speaking with soone from my side of the family?
I stepped into the bathroom to take a long shower to loosen the tension in my muscles.
t was hard to be around people who hated . I had to give myself credit for that.
I had been surrounded by negative people, people who made feel unwanted all the ti.
When I ca out wearing a white shirt and black pants, I paused.
Luca stood next to the bed, scratching the back of his neck and staring at the mattress like it was a puzzle.
By the ti I was taking a shower, he had finally co to the room.
That was when he had also noticed the bed.
But he pretended as if he had no clue why there was only one bed.
If I had to take a guess, soone must have told Lara I was not intimate with Luca.
So this was her way of making sure sothing did happen between us during this visit.
"What is so confusing about it?" I asked, narrowing my eyes slightly. "Isn’t this what you wanted?"
He turned around in confusion, watching almost as if he was judging for my remark.
"What? I wanted what?" he replied, looking honestly confused.
Either he was telling the truth or he was very good at acting.
With Lara already assuming we would share a bed, he was the first person I blad.
Before he could respond, the door pushed open and Kash stepped inside.
He looked as if he had planned to knock but changed his mind halfway.
His eyes swept across the room and stopped when he saw Luca and standing beside the single bed.
Then his gaze settled on . He tried to keep his face calm, but the tension in his jaw was too clear.
Even the way he stood annoyed .
His coat hung open, his shirt sleeves were pushed up, and he ran a hand through his hair as if he needed a mont to collect himself.
"I ca to talk about the perfu promotion," he remarked, pretending to sound casual. There was a calmness in his voice that did not match the harsh look on his face. "If there is a problem, I can get you two a couch. So people like to sit and use their laptops on a couch."
He shifted his weight and adjusted his coat again.
The way he offered a couch sounded more like a warning, as if he wanted to make sure we did not share the bed.
"Why would I want a couch?" I asked, lifting my chin. "We will enjoy the laptop in the bed."
And then the toxicity in decided to hurt him too.
I had been watching him get close to Lara, and all this ti I had acted like soone weak who was desperate for his attention.
Now was the ti to show him that I had a boyfriend and that I was not jealous of him being with Lara.
I noticed the way Kash’s eyes darkened and how he clenched his fingers once before relaxing them.
He tried to nod, but it was the kind of nod that showed he was absorbing what he had just heard from .

I walked past him into the hallway, leaving Luca inside the room.
Once I was a few steps away, Kash caught up with .
"So you two are also intimate before the wedding?" he asked, folding his arms as he leaned slightly forward.
There was a warning in his eyes, almost like he wanted to remind to choose my words carefully.
But my answer was already ready.
"Yeah," I replied, shrugging. "I am not the one who claid to never be intimate with him. You did." I called him out on his hypocrisy.
He stopped breathing for a mont. His jaw tightened before he pushed his hand through his hair.
"Well, for your information, I was not intimate with Lara. I was drunk that night. That is why that mistake happened," he argued loudly.
"Oh, you always have excuses. That day you did not have one. Now that ti has passed, you ca up with a great excuse," I retorted, refusing to let him fool .
"That is not the truth," he snapped, stepping closer. "You never believe . Iris, I am telling you, we were both drunk. I did not even know I would wake up with her in my arms."
He grunted through the words, almost sounding too aggressive.
To upset him even more, I let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Oh really? So who did you expect to wake up with? You thought Santa Claus would be in your arms?" I hissed at him.
His mouth opened for a reply, but he hesitated.
Then the words slipped out before he could stop them.
"I thought I was sleeping with you."
