"I am leaving this decision to you. Convince him, or the three of you will face my wrath," my mother warned instead of addressing Luca, who had already given her his answer and turned his back on her.
He was shoving his clothes into his bag while my mother panicked behind him. Without him, most of the plans she used to create trouble between and Kash would fall apart.
"Fine. You think just because you do not care about the videos getting leaked, it will not affect others?" my mother continued hastily. "Rember this. Everything that happens now will be because of you, Luca. You will be the reason behind it."
She stord out of the room, making rub my palms anxiously. Luca did not even turn around to acknowledge her threat. He simply waved his hand in the air.
Once my mother left, I walked over and closed the door. I then turned to Luca and rushed toward him, trying to get his attention.
"Do you really think that is the right thing to do?" I asked, worried she would act out of anger."Yes, I do think it is the right thing to do. If we keep being afraid of her, she will keep trying to scare us more because she thinks that if it worked once, it will work every ti," he grunted in frustration.
I still shook my head because he did not understand how dangerous my mother could be.
"Luca, she will leak the videos. You heard her," I said quietly, shaking badly. I hated that I felt this way.
"She is not going to leak the videos because of my decision," Luca replied. "It is you she wants to control, so she will not release them like that. Once I am out of the picture, she will have no use for those videos against you, except to pressure you into small things."
Luca explained, though he was clearly drunk by this point.
"Luca, I do not think you understand how far my mother can go," I told him, and he shook his head.
"Oh, I know. I know everything now. She is a wicked witch. I should have been more careful around her from the start," he remarked.
Then he turned to face , tossing the empty bottle onto the bed."I am tasting my own dicine. I should have never agreed to sothing like this. I unintentionally hurt you and your feelings. Iris, I am really sorry," he whispered.
At least soone felt guilty. I had seen the sa guilt in Scarlett’s eyes as well. But my mother was the one I had never seen show even the slightest awareness of her actions.
"If a mother can do this to her own daughter, hire so many people just to put her through this, how did I ever think she could be a good ally for ? I do not understand how money made play these gas with you," he grunted, burying his face in his hands before groaning and stepping away from the bag, "I do not know."
"I thought—" I was going to speak when I stopped myself.
"You thought I was not bothered by the videos, right?" he asked, and I nodded slowly because seeing him like that made feel guilty.
My family’s ugly gas had pulled in not just him, but also an innocent person like Scarlett, even though they were not completely innocent either. They were willing to play along when it was only about . I realized he was finally understanding that he had dragged himself into sothing much deeper when he made an alliance with my mother.
"To be honest, I thought they would be different kinds of videos. You need to see how they edited them," he added.
As soon as he said that, my heart began to pound harder in my chest.
"You saw the videos?" I asked, and he let out a grunt.
"Everything," he replied, before reaching for his bag again, "and sadly, I was used to traumatizing you two won."
Just then, the door opened, and my mother walked in. She looked shaken, clearly affected by Luca stepping away from her.
"I am warning you. Think before you leave. Decide carefully," my mother told him again, but he did not care anymore.
He zipped his bag, slung it over his shoulder, and in the next mont, he was already out of the room. My mother rushed after him. I heard her calling his na, but he did not stop.
Soon after, I heard footsteps heading back toward the room.
I took a deep breath and straightened my posture to face my mother, who, as expected, stord in only to glare at before walking out of the room. I let out the breath I had been holding, thinking she would take her anger over his actions out on . However, she simply left.
I began to wonder if things would calm down for a while. She must have realized that her actions were becoming too much, and if she continued like this, others would step away from her as well.
A sigh escaped my lips as I sat on the bed, but my mother returned again almost imdiately. This ti, I had a bad feeling. She wore a broken smile, the kind that showed she had not accepted defeat.
"What did you do?" I asked, stepping toward her.
"I hope you are ready to attend the next call you receive," my mother replied, and the frown on my forehead deepened.
Sure enough, my phone rang. It was a video call from Scarlett, and that alone sent a wave of anxiety through . With shaking hands, I accepted the call while keeping my eyes on my mother.
Then I looked at the screen. Scarlett was there, crying and shaking her head.
"This was not supposed to happen," she murmured, sniffling, looking completely devastated.
"What is going on?" I asked, feeling my throat tighten.
"They send the video and the pictures they are going to leak of ," she revealed and a loud gasp escaped my lips.
