Iris:
Even when Kash had told that I ant little to nothing to him, seeing him in front of still gave hope.
Then I rembered he must have arrived here thinking he was going to take over the East, only to find out that we were also stuck here.
Before my mood could sour, or before he could remind that he was surprised to see , he started speaking.
"So I knew you were hiding my mate," he spoke bitterly, clenching his jaw.
That alone told a lot.
"So you ca here looking for your mate? I thought you wanted the East," Wilson remarked, using a mocking tone as he turned to .
"So that is Kash," he whispered before looking back at Kash. "I’ve seen your pictures. I didn’t think you would be so impressive in person," he comnted, elbowing .
I did not know what was worse, him acting like we were close enough to joke like that, or the fact that he was so calm.
"Why are you forcing my wife into marrying that man?" Kash grunted, raising his voice. There was fire in his eyes.
"He is not forcing her. Iris wanted to marry Luca. You know that," my mother replied as she finally stepped into view, and Kash looked even more confused.
Of course, he did not know what was going on, who these people were, or what Wilson’s connection to was.
"How could you let your daughter be treated this way?" Kash yelled at my mother. She turned to look at Wilson.
I guessed she was expecting Wilson to take a stand for her, and I thought the sa. I thought he would lose control if Kash so much as raised his voice at my mother. But Wilson did not seem to care.
"How can you let so man force your daughter into marrying Luca?" Kash took another step forward. His voice was loud like thunder.
"He’s not just so man. He is her brother. He is my son," my mother revealed.
I closed my eyes, then opened them to look at Kash, who was staring at with deep disappointnt.
It was probably because I had kept so many secrets from him throughout my life that I would not have been surprised if he had confessed he did not know at all.
There was a brief pause in him, almost as if he was taking in yet another secret of mine. But he was Kash. He knew how to calm himself down.
"Here’s the thing. You will release my wife to and give back my children, or else war will co not only from my side, but from the South, North, and West," Kash spoke, threatening them with a warning.
My mother started to chuckle.
"If you want, you can take the kids, the children," she said.
The mont she said that, my head snapped toward her. They were causing a division.
They were going to deprive of my own children, and I was afraid Kash might even accept it.
He did not really care about us. He had told that before. It was more of a power issue for him.
He was afraid they would use his children against him.
Otherwise, Lara ant more to him than his own children. He had confessed that himself.
"But you cannot take Iris away. She is no longer your mate. Do you not rember? You rejected her."
The mont my mother said that out loud, Wilson started to chuckle, and Luca looked down, as if it confird that I had gone through with the rejection.
"As per the pack’s rules and territory laws, you cannot co and demand soone you have rejected," my brother spoke up, clicking his tongue.
There was a small sense of ease on Kash’s face, and I knew exactly why.
Flashback.
"You want what?" Kash asked as I stood in his room.
I knew my mother was waiting for to co back with the rejection, and if he did not give it to , she would make my life miserable.
"I want rejection," I demanded in a shaky tone.
"No, you don’t. Soone else does, and I don’t know why and how this person is able to control you, but I will find out. And I know this because the Iris I know would look in the eye and demand rejection bitterly instead of asking while shaking," Kash said, surprising with how attentive he was to my body language.
"Well, then, if confidence is what you want," I started to speak, but he pressed his finger against my lips, silencing .
"Go ahead and tell whoever wants you to take rejection from , that I have rejected you," he said, grabbing my arms and pulling closer to his chest.
"What do you an?" I asked, gulping hard.
"What I an is that they will never find out what the truth is. So go ahead and tell them that I have rejected you, because that is all the rejection you are getting. You are not getting a real rejection from , ever," he whispered, then stepped back and gestured toward the door.
I could have asked him again and forced him to reject , but he was not wrong. I was being forced into it, and he had given a good idea. I could lie. I did not have to promise anyone anything.
"Go tell them I rejected you," he spoke more softly, with warmth in his eyes and voice.
End Of Flashback
"Actually, you’re very wrong," Kash spoke softly. This ti, his confidence and calmness raised eyebrows. "I have not rejected Iris. I have never rejected Iris."
As he revealed the truth, my mother’s head snapped toward . There was a hint of betrayal in her eyes, as if she had realized I had lied to her. Seeing that betrayal in her eyes made feel fulfilled.
