Kash:
I did not know what was worse, the fact that she was hurting or the fact that I could not explain why I had cheated on her.
Part of wanted to yell at her and tell her to trust , to close her eyes to everything. But that was not possible.
I was not the only one who had been betrayed in life or who had things weighing on him. She was suffering deeply. So demanding that she close her eyes was truly unfair.
Still, it caused a lot of strain between us. When I stepped out of the bathroom, I heard her cry.
I was that unlucky and exposed man who could not even go back inside to comfort his crying mate. If I did, the questions would be raised again.
There was only one way to comfort her, and that was to tell her the truth she wanted, the truth I could not give.
Once I left the room, I was already too tired to see Lara in the living room. It felt as if she had been waiting for a chance to be alone with . She rushed to her feet and moved toward , clearly upset.
"Where are you going?" she asked, placing her hands on her waist.
"Are you finally coming to my room?" she demanded, tears forming in her eyes.
"Not tonight, Lara. I have to go outside," I told her, trying to move past her, but she kept stepping in my way.
"From spending ti with her family to staying in her room ever since you returned, do you think I am a fool, Kash?" she remarked. Her harsh tone made slowly lower my head and look her in the eye.
"I am noticing everything, every fucking thing, and I am starting to wonder if you truly expect to believe you ever loved ."
She paused, as if trying to hold back her tears.
"Because if you had, you would not be leaving like this. We got married, Kash, and you left to look for her. Do you not see how she ruined everything? She is making you do this. She has you wrapped around her finger, and you dance to her cries. But enough is enough. I am not going to sit here and let you two treat like shit."
She grunted and gently touched her cheek, wiping away the lone tear slipping from her eye. I stood there, watching her in silence. After a few seconds, she chuckled and shook her head.
"Wow. And you cannot even comfort ," she shouted, her voice rising.
"You know what? This is it. I am done. I am leaving," she declared.
For so reason, I could not stop her. I was already overwheld. My mind felt blocked, empty of any thought. I silently watched her cry in front of .
"Seriously? Nothing? You are not going to say anything?" she complained, pressing a hand to her chest as she cried.
"I do not know what to say," I replied. "All I know is that I have nothing to say that will comfort your heart. So if you want to leave, fine."
I did not know what ca over , but I asked her to leave. Her eyes widened, and her hands flew up to cover her mouth before she quickly wiped away her tears.
"Good. I am leaving," she said. She turned and walked away, and once again, I did not stop her.
Even though I knew that to be with Iris again, I needed Lara for my plan. Still, I could not stop her because, in that mont, it felt like we had both ruined my relationship.
I walked out of the mansion to take a stroll in the garden. Part of wanted to smoke, but I knew that if Iris saw from the window, it would turn into another argunt.
Then I heard soone else step outside the guest house. I turned slightly and saw Iris’s father coming out, his hands clasped behind his back. He moved toward and glanced at the mansion.
"Looks like you two had an argunt," he comnted.
I smiled and shook my head.
"Yeah, well, it is about what happened earlier," I replied bluntly.
"No, it will always be about why you cheated on her," he corrected calmly.
As soon as he said that, tears ford in my eyes.
"Why will you not tell her why you did it?" he asked gently.
"Are you going to ask why I did it?" I asked instead.
"Well, I would like to know why a man who loves my daughter so much took a step he knew would scar their relationship," he replied.
His words hit hard. I closed my eyes and tilted my head back before opening them to stare at the sky.
"Iris needs the blue water pearl as well," I admitted.
The mont I said that, her father tilted his head slightly.
"It started a few years ago when I noticed she began to pass out often. I grew worried and started looking for answers. I ran all her tests, and there was nothing wrong until soone approached and told exactly what I needed to do to save Iris."
As I spoke quietly, her father listened without interrupting.
"They told she needed the blue water pearl, and for it to work, you can never tell the patient they are sick or that the water they are drinking is a cure. I cannot tell her that.. I married Lara so I could get the cure for Iris."
When I finished, I felt lighter for the first ti in a long while. I had finally explained my innocence to soone.
"I had a feeling that you—that there was sothing you were hiding. I wish I had known it was this," he added softly.
"You should get the water quickly before it is too late. And once my daughter finds out, she–she will accept you with open arms."
Hearing him say that gave confidence and relief. I needed it for the night. Without it, I would not have been able to sleep peacefully. However, as I focused on his words, sothing else ca to mind.
"Shit," I muttered.
"I asked Lara to leave."
I sighed, throwing my head back before slapping my forehead.
