Iris:
My kids were happily coloring when there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it? Co in," I replied, sitting with my children and hand-feeding them while they stayed busy with their books.
"Kids, you can co outside and do whatever you want," Zoe said as she walked in, speaking directly to Colin and Amy.
"No, Zoe, it is okay. They want to stay here," I responded without turning around.
"Yeah, but they are prince and princess," Zoe tried to argue.
I raised my hand to stop her.
"It is okay, Zoe. Please close the door when you leave," I said, not giving her any more attention.
She lingered for a few seconds before finally walking out.
"Mommy, Aunt Zoe is not so bad," Colin remarked, making gently touch his cheek.
If only they knew how cruel these people could be, they would never have spoken her na.
I was sure of one thing now. I was not going to let anyone play anymore.
If Kash wanted to keep here, then so be it. And if Lara wanted to push , I would respond to her in the sa tone she used on .
After my kids finished their food, I went to the kitchen to discard the dishes, where I found Zoe and her mother there once again.
"Really? Why would he say that to you?" Lady Vivian questioned Zoe about sothing.
Even when they noticed I had arrived, they did not stop talking.
"I don’t know. He was just saying that it is ti we should leave and live in our own place," Zoe replied to her mother.
She finally noticed .
I rembered the earlier conversation between Markus and Lara, where Lara had been kind of threatening to expose him if he did not leave with Zoe.
"I don’t wanna leave. He cannot even earn well, so he’ll probably take to so cheap place, and then what will we do there?" Zoe complained openly.
"Yeah, but if he wants to do sothing and take his responsibility seriously, I think you should go with him," her mother encouraged her.
I started tapping my finger on my chin.
"What is the rush?" I spoke up.
Lady Vivian turned around at once and gave a quizzical look, almost as if she was confused that I was even speaking.
"Are you listening to us?" she questioned, casting a harsh glare.
"I an, I’m here, so yeah, I got to hear it," I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
"Well, it is none of your business," Lady Vivian snapped.
However, I noticed Zoe looking a little softer toward .
"I’m only speaking with Zoe. If she wants to shut up, I will," I told her.
That was a bold move from .
The look Zoe gave made it seem like she did not agree with leaving the mansion. That was why I openly called her out to silence if she wanted to, sothing she would have done in other situations.
"Go on, Zoe. Tell her to shut up," her mother told her with a tired look, already dismissing .
"Actually, she is a Luna queen, and I think her suggestions matter as well," Zoe remarked.
Her mother gasped out loud.
"Zoe," she snapped.
"What? I’m just saying," Zoe replied. "Iris, do you think we should leave?"
She completely left the decision to .
Her mother stood there with her mouth wide open in shock.
It was true that I hated Zoe for what she had done to . I had hated her for a very long ti. But with things heading in a disturbing direction, and Lara being the one calling the shots, I did not feel Zoe would be safe living alone with soone like Markus.
So, setting aside my anger and thoughts of revenge, I chose honesty. The sa honesty I would have chosen for my own daughter.
"No, you should not leave. Your husband is not earning. Where would you go?" I replied. "I don’t think it would be okay for the Alpha King’s sister to live in a house with no warriors, no guards, and no servants to take care of her."
As the words left my mouth, Zoe looked at as if countless thoughts were hitting her all at once.
"Since when do you care about your sister-in-law? Don’t you hate us?" Lady Vivian continued in her usual way, but I kept my eyes on Zoe, who was looking back at .
"Mother, I’ll go with the Luna Queen’s decision," Zoe replied.
It was almost as if her mother had not been shocked enough already. Zoe openly taking my side made her turn to look at her, clearly upset.
"I think you should speak with your husband. Maybe he will not like you not living with him," her mother said in a soft voice that sounded defeated.
I let the two of them continue their discussion. I had already stated my side.
If Zoe had any sense of her own, she would go with my decision. But I could not force her.
I stepped out of the kitchen and found Lara in the living room, looking like she was about to head toward the kitchen to listen in.
A bit of mischief crept into .
I cleared my throat and approached her.
"Did you hear what happened in the mansion?" I asked, trying to gossip.
At first, she looked slightly confused about why I was speaking to her so casually. Then her curiosity took over.
"No, what happened?" she questioned.
Taking a deep breath, I moved closer to her, speaking anxiously, almost in a whisper.
"Markus is asking Zoe to leave with him."
As soon as I finished, I watched Lara’s eyes widen. I wanted to see her reaction, and there it was. She could not hide the wide smile on her lips.
"That is great. I an, it is about ti the two of them leave and Zoe puts her responsibilities on that man who does nothing all day," she remarked, instantly starting to complain about Markus not doing anything.
"Yeah, but I don’t know where they would go. He doesn’t have a ho here. He doesn’t have a job," I comnted innocently, as if I had no idea what I was doing and was just speaking honestly.
"I can’t believe you, Iris. Are you really that gullible?" she snapped, keeping her voice low so her mother and sister would not hear.
