Iris:
When Kash kicked Lara out of his ho, I honestly stood in my spot, watching him in confusion and shock.
Although I had been told that he only wanted her father’s pack and the territory, I was confused when I noticed him trying so hard to win her heart over the last few days.
I thought maybe, just maybe, he was playing a part, but now he was kicking her out.
Did it change anything for ? Nope. It ant that what he said was true.
He truly chose power over , and for that, I was not going to act like I could forgive him for what he had done. I returned to my room after Lara passed out.
Walkin was brought in to take her to the hospital, and it seed like she genuinely had passed out.
"I know I’m the last person you would like to hear from," Zoe told , "but Kash did it for you. He’s trying his best to show you that you’re the only one he likes and loves and wants around."
She had co into the room to bring my kids snacks because we had not left our room ever since the whole chaos happened. I an, she was right. She was the last person I wanted to hear it from. But since she was here, I decided to keep my attention on her.
"Well, it doesn’t change anything, Zoe," I replied. "And if he kicked her out to impress or to prove a point to , then he made a mistake. He should have never done that. Because I don’t ever plan to get back together with him."
I slowly lowered my head and checked the listings. I had actually found a ho nearby Kash’s house. It was not trying to run away from him.
It was trying to tell him that I was looking for a place separate from him, that I was separating from him, and that if he tried to be forceful with this ti, I was going to speak to the council about it.
"You’re going to take away the children?" Zoe asked, peering at my phone while she stood beside my bed.
My children were in the bed too. They had not even started eating. They looked really sad for so reason.
"Are we really leaving, Mommy?" Colin asked .
"We were just guests here, kids," I answered my children.
They pouted, sharing glances before looking at Zoe.
"Why do you have to leave? I an, Kash can move out," Zoe muttered.
The minute Zoe said that, I twisted my neck so fast it almost hurt as I looked at her.
"I’m so sorry," she quickly corrected herself, instinctively fixing her words. "I guess I’m just being unreasonable."
She did not have to say twice that she cared for my children. I had heard that she noticed sothing was different about and chose not to tell her mother. I could tell it was because of my children.
"Is the bad auntie gone?" Colin asked Zoe.
She gave him a wink and nodded her head. I shot her a disapproving look before turning to my children so they would stop celebrating by doing little dances.
"Then why are we leaving now that she is gone?" Amy asked , getting up from the bed and coming to sit in my lap.
They always did that. My children were clever. They did all these cute things just to get to listen to them.
"I was never staying here for her kids, and we had to go one day. It was bound to happen," I said that to them and also gave the impression to Zoe, who started to steadily walk away, heading toward the exit.
But she suddenly stopped and turned around to face , staring at from the doorway.
"Do you still love my brother after what he did to you?" she asked in a gentle voice.
It felt odd to have Zoe around and not worry about what she was going to do to . I rembered how scared I used to be of her gaze. It was as if I always thought she was up to sothing, preparing plans to snicker or pass nasty comnts at , or even push around, to be honest.
"I do," I replied, "but love is different from accepting soone back into your life. I still love him, and I might even love him for the rest of my life, but that does not an I can be with him."
I said that while watching my children grow sad at my words.
"What if he doesn’t show you any love? What if he stops taking your side? He goes to his ho and doesn’t even respond to you? What if he refuses to go to the hospital with you to see what’s wrong with you, why you cannot conceive?" she asked.
As she continued questioning , I realized she was not even talking about . She was talking about herself and what she was dealing with, Markus.
"Zoe," I said softly. "If he does all that, then I would know he does not love at all. And I would never love a man who doesn’t love back."
I paused before continuing.
"The only reason I’m still here in this mansion and still love Kash is because he claims to love back. The day he starts ignoring , he will begin to fade into the abyss of my thoughts."
I said it gently, trying to help her.
"But how do you know when it’s ti?" she asked. "What if he says he’s busy?"
She continued questioning, looking sad and miserable. I never wanted to see a woman look that way. With her, it felt worse, because I rembered that for a long ti, I had prayed for her to feel the pain I felt when she kicked out.
"Well, then you need to ask your heart what it feels," I told her.
