Iris:
I silently glared at Kash as he gestured for Luca to join him, and Luca didn’t hesitate.
He liked chaos, so of course he agreed. He winked at and pointed at Kash.
"Okay, baby, I’ll be back after I defeat that big man’s ego once again," Luca said, leaning in to give a quick peck on the cheek.
It was so sudden I didn’t even have ti to remind him that we’d never agreed on being physically close.
But it was too late, he was already heading toward Kash.
"What is going on?" Lara asked, sounding confused as she rushed after Kash.
"Back down, Lara," Kash told her.
People started whispering. It didn’t look good.
They were acting out in front of everyone, and all eyes were on them now.
With so many photographers around, it was only a matter of ti before this turned into news.
But at that point, I wasn’t even sure if they cared. Kash was completely out of control when he was angry.
Right before my eyes, I watched both Kash and Luca get into their cars.
Luca looked cheerful, probably because he had already beaten Kash once. Kash, on the other hand, appeared angry and tense.
Lara glanced around until her eyes found mine through the crowd, then turned back to the two n.
They stood side by side. Keith rushed over, grabbed a coat, and stood beside their cars.
He was the only one trying to lighten the mood with his humor.
"On your marks, get set, go!" Keith shouted, waving the jacket as the two cars sped off.
He then turned around, rolling his eyes and shaking his head in disbelief at them acting like children.
"What the hell happened? Why did they suddenly start racing?" Keith muttered before walking over to his hairstylist.
Lara began making her way toward .
"I need to speak with you alone," she said.
"Speak here," I replied, unwilling to go anywhere alone with her.
I still held a file in my hand and pretended to stay busy, acting as if the race didn’t concern and it truly didn’t.
It was between two people who ant nothing to .
"What’s going on? Is Kash acting up because of you again?" she asked, making laugh.
"Why are you so insecure, Lara? Don’t worry, he left for you. Cheer up. He isn’t doing anything for ," I told her.
Maybe the way I admitted that so calmly should have been enough for her to know I had accepted my defeat, because I had.
I didn’t want to fight for a man who wasn’t mine to begin with.
I walked away and continued with the preparations.
We did the shoots, though half of my mind was still on the two idiots.
More than anything, I worried that if Luca got hurt, my mother might take it out on by hurting my child.
I checked my cara feed and saw the kids playing in the living room.
Scarlett was with them, while my mother stood in the front yard watching the gardener work.
Then, out of nowhere, a racing car appeared at full speed.
Everyone gasped, then began to cheer. Lara exhaled in relief as Kash’s car arrived first.
He stepped out, nodded at those around him, and accepted their congratulations on winning that ridiculous race.
Before Lara could reach him, he briskly walked over to , pretending to grab a file from the side.
As he moved, I noticed how cocky he looked with a smug face, but the tightness in his jaw told he was still angry about sothing.
He bent slightly, leaning toward before turning to the side and taking a file from the table behind .
"I’m truly over you now. Done with you," he said steadily, straightening his back.
He t my eyes for a mont, then walked away and gestured for Lara to join him.
I froze at his reaction, and then my eyes searched for Luca.
His car never appeared, and I began to wonder what the hell he had done to him.
When we finished the shoot and everything wrapped up, I noticed no one seed to care about Luca.
Of course, he was just a newcor. Why would anyone think of him?
Everyone was too busy celebrating their alpha king, Kash, who had returned victorious.
Then it was ti to head ho.
I stood on the road, calling for my driver, but his phone had been busy for a long ti.
"We can drop you off. We’re headed ho anyway." Lara appeared behind , proudly shrugging her shoulders as she stood beside Kash’s car.
Kash ca around like a bullet, opened the passenger door for her, and without looking at , spoke directly to her.
"I’m pretty sure she can arrange a ride for herself."
He slamd the door shut, walked around to the driver’s side, got in, and sped away.
"I see you have no ride."
I already knew who it was. The voice was so cheerful that I couldn’t help but smile, even under so much stress.
When I turned around, I saw Keith grinning.
"I think your boyfriend didn’t want to show up after that defeat," he remarked, making laugh. He wasn’t wrong.
After Kash arrived, I checked the caras, and I saw Luca in the guest house.
He spoke briefly with my mother before heading inside and into one of the guest rooms.
So far, he hadn’t been allowed in my room and I wanted to keep it that way.
"Yeah, I’m calling my driver, but he’s not picking up," I explained when Keith asked why I was still standing by the road.
"Well, like I said, I can drop you off. Besides, the weather’s getting bad. I don’t want you caught in the rain. It’d be a sha if the rain got lucky enough to touch you."
He was flirtatious again. It wasn’t the first ti, and though I knew my boyfriend had warned him to stay away, Keith never seed to care. It confused .
Still, in my mind, I was a free woman, so I didn’t feel guilty when I got into the passenger seat beside him.
As we settled in, I noticed him shifting around a lot.
And I wondered what was going on with him.
