Capítulo 460: Episode 147: Wen Yan’s Hope (9) (2nd update, seeking support, recent performance is dismal)

“Brother… Brother…?” Funiya asked puzzled.

“Call Brother Brand,” Brand looked carefully at the little girl. Her bravery and helplessness softened his heart infinitely. But in the end, it all turned into a smile. He turned his head: “So, do you plan to go alone, Funiya?”

The little girl lowered her head, not answering.

“I understand,” Brand nodded and exhaled deeply. “Co on—”

Funiya was stunned. She looked up in surprise, only to see Brand extending a hand to her, tilting his head and smiling: “Brave lady, would you allow a knight to accompany you on this journey?”

Funiya opened her small mouth, not knowing how to respond for a mont.

But in the end, the little girl blushed, nodded vigorously, and shyly placed her hand into Brand’s palm.

Brand chuckled lightly, nodded back at her, held her hand, and stood up, helping Funiya to stand. He then turned his head to look at the silver moonlight on the ground and smiled faintly:

“Alright, let’s go see who this Baron really is.”

“Big… Brother?” Funiya turned to look at him.

“Don’t worry, Funiya,” Brand replied calmly. “Just as the Senia People want to leave hope for their kin, I also need to leave hope for myself. So, Funiya—”

“Even if it is this world, this ti I will conquer it to show you.”

Even in the dead of night, the Baron’s castle was still brightly lit; people ca and went in the hall, but Gruding stared ahead with a grim expression, his icy gaze piercing through the castle’s arched stone window, falling into the vast darkness of the night.

And there, on the plain under the night sky, firelight twinkled, shining brightly.

Seven clerks stood one by one beside this ruthless Baron. They fidgeted but none dared to speak. Finally, Gruding’s confidant bent down and answered in a low voice:

“My lord, the rcenaries are gathering outside the city. I’m afraid our n can no longer hold them back.”

Before he finished speaking, Gruding’s icy glance swept over him, silencing the latter half of his suggestion, forcing him to swallow it down.

‘Clang clang’ ca a series of breaking sounds.

The Baron swept his hand, knocking the lavish dinner on the table to the ground. His sudden fury startled everyone present; the servants imdiately retreated, fearing this temperantal lord might drag them out and hang them on the cross outside if they displeased him even slightly.

One must know that the blood on the bodies of those rcenaries and adventurers had not yet dried—

“Fools.”

Gruding said icily, “Tell , why hasn’t Carey’s cavalry returned yet?”

His confidant swallowed dryly and replied, “Probably blocked by the rcenaries outside the city…”

“Probably?” A cold glint flashed in Gruding’s eyes.

“Sorry, my lord, our n can’t get out of the city because the rcenaries are blocking the way. So we haven’t received any updates…”

“rcenaries, rcenaries, always rcenaries! Can’t you co up with a plan?” The Baron wished he could throw the fork at the man’s face. He roared, “Can’t you kill them all?”

“Uh…”

His confidant was awkward, thinking there were at least a dozen rcenary groups outside the city, along with adventurers. It’s already a blessing from Martha that they hadn’t stord in. How could they possibly kill them all and break out? Moreover, you were advised not to kill so many rcenaries during the day, just to teach them a lesson— but you didn’t listen. Relying on the Madara’s Undead Army behind you, you did things without considering the consequences, which led to this ss.

In the end, you bla us for being foolish.

Of course, these thoughts could only stay in his mind. If he spoke them out loud, he might get himself killed. So, he could only bow his head and wait for Gruding to change his mind.

Gruding was silent for a while before realizing the issue at hand. But he wasn’t too worried. He just threw the fork coldly to the ground.

“Where are Madara’s n?”

“You want to call them in?” The confidant imdiately looked up.

“Of course. They are involved in this too. Just tell them the truth— I only want one result. By tomorrow morning, I don’t want to see those filthy, lowly rcenaries in my territory.” Gruding Baron waved his hand and replied coldly.

Kill them all?

Everyone’s complexion changed. This was no small matter.

But just as Gruding’s confidant said, although the rcenaries were gathered together, not all of them were intent on seeking justice from the local authority—a real power holder of the Kingdom.

The bonfire was blazing, illuminating each face present.

The young Wizard Apprentice coldly looked at everyone gathered. His gaze swept over each face. There were leaders of rcenary groups, representatives of adventurer teams, and so wandering rcenaries. Besides a shared look of indignation, most of them were hiding their own calculations—

The young man sighed, knowing that taking revenge today seed increasingly unlikely. But he could never swallow the deaths of so many comrades.

He couldn’t help but clench his fists, his face cold as he questioned, “Do you really not want to fight? So many people have died, yet you choose cowardly silence. Have you thought that to them, we are so worthless that our lives can be trampled upon at will?”

“Companions, friends, and comrades, their bodies are hardly cold, and you have already accepted this fate?”

But his questioning seed to fall into a bottomless pit, never getting a response.

People looked at each other, but no one spoke.

“Just let it go?” Soone in the crowd asked quietly.

“What else can we do? They’re nobility,” another replied dejectedly.

“Not just nobility, they’re also lords,” soone added.

“Can lords kill as they please?” the young man shouted angrily. “Isn’t there no such clause in the Kingdom’s Law Code? Those bodies hanging on the cross now were your living comrades a few hours ago. Can’t you feel even a little bit of anger?”
