Capítulo 463: Scene 149 Dawn (2)
With a snap, the ordinary longsword in his hand shattered into pieces in the sword scabbard, unable to withstand the Gold Level power. Brand was slightly stunned, he raised the sword scabbard to take a look, then casually discarded it—
The sword fell into the ruins.
The young man turned around, his brown eyes reflecting the rcenaries’ varied expressions. Holding Funiya’s hand, he spoke calmly: “I have brought my promise—”
“Do you rember what you said?”
His flat tone, like a sharp sword out of its sheath, resonated through everyone’s hearts.
The rcenaries opened their mouths but did not know how to respond.
“I rember!” Only the young man in a gray-green robe excitedly pushed through the crowd, almost stumbling to Brand’s side, then looking up at this young noble with a hint of disbelief in his eyes.
He really ca.
“I rember…” the Wizard Apprentice took a breath and softly repeated, “I ca, Lord…”
Brand glanced at him.
His gaze swept past him, landing on the others, every single one.
“What about the others?”
Silence.
“You…” The young man in the gray-green robe angrily looked around at these people, wishing he could punch them in the face, flipping these cowards upside down.
But still silence, a deathly stillness—
Brand rely smiled slightly, he chuckled, his gentle eyelids seed to refract a layer of glow: “If I were you, I would not choose to offend both lords at the sa ti—”
From the ruins ca a snapping sound, amongst the bricks and stones stood so soldiers wrapped in black robes; as soon as they stood up, they raised their swords and charged towards Brand in rigid postures.
Brand waved his hand backwards, the first black-robed soldier to reach him was instantly swatted away, splitting into pieces mid-air with a ‘crash’, falling as fragnts next to the badly injured but not dead noble soldiers crawling desperately away.
It sounded like a rain of bones.
All the noble soldiers were stunned, immobilized—
The second skeleton soldier had already reached Brand’s side, but the young man, without turning his head, grabbed the right claw of the skeleton that tried to stab him, pulled forward, disarming the opponent’s Black Steel Longsword with his left hand, then with his right hand gripping its wrist, he slamd it heavily to the ground in a shoulder toss, breaking it into several pieces.
He held the Black Steel Longsword in his left hand, swung a reverse sword.
A crescent-shaped white light.
The dozen skeleton soldiers behind simultaneously broke, stopped, and fell—
Brand calmly put down the longsword, turned around facing the fallen skeleton soldiers. He looked at the ruins of the fortress and spoke indifferently: “Now, I grant you such honor—”
The young knight raised his sword, the tip pointing directly forward down the long street.
“On this street, the souls on the cross silently witness your battle. Are you willing to fight alongside these comrades in a different manner?”
At that mont.
Everyone seed to stop breathing.
No one spoke, but so turned their heads, so blinked their dry eyes, so silently grasped their longswords. Yes, nothing moves rcenaries more than fighting side by side, trusting each other.
This is the only chance, the last ti to fight alongside these comrades.
I’m sorry, but can I still trust you with my back?
Comrades.
No extra words, just the sounds of swords being drawn; the young Wizard Apprentice helplessly lowered his hand, almost in disbelief as he watched this scene, watched as the previously silent rcenaries—now everyone coldly pursed their lips, silently, solemnly pulled out their swords.
The sword is the rcenary’s life—
It’s also a promise.
The rcenaries stepped out with a sacred expression, first one and two, then more, quietly, silently, swords and armor rubbing and colliding. Everyone silently stepped out, silently lined up, standing behind the young knight.
Brand smiled slightly.
He lowered his sword, only feeling a fla burning in his chest.
But his face was already cold, the young man spoke: “Three Great Commanders, step forward—”
Among the crowd, three people exchanged glances and stepped out of the line one by one.
