Chapter 491: Scene 162: War of the Travel Mage (5) (1st update, seeking subscriptions)

Six dark, cold rock bridges rose from under Char’s short staff, crashing into the inner city wall with a thunderous noise. After a quake that shook the ground, Gruding’s knights staggered up from behind the parapet, trembling with fear as they found there was now an open path between them and their foes—no more obstacles stood in their way.

For a mont, the battlefield was eerily silent, as if silent angels had flown over everyone’s heads, muting their voices.

However, the young Wizard withdrew his staff, stood back, and then looked up at the knights on the city wall with grim faces, and gave them a slight smile.

At that mont, the dull sound of horse hooves echoed from behind him—

The cavalry among the rcenaries bolted out from behind Char, speeding past the young Wizard in an instant. They charged up the rock bridge, their path forward, with the longsword in the hand of the young Lord behind them also pointing forward. The tip of Brand’s longsword reflected the cold light of the stars, unmoving—almost as if answering to the sa command:

Attack, destroy the enemy!

The ground rumbled, and the noble knights’ expressions changed drastically. A large crowd of rcenaries sward onto the city wall, but Brand’s summons were faster. The young man had already reset two Holy Great Angels that had suffered severe injuries in the battle against Kabais and Bai. While fetching disha’s card from the graveyard, he ordered the Holy Great Angels to strike—the angels of light flapped their wings and soared over everyone’s heads, reaching the city wall in a flash. The flash of swords knocked heads rolling. The strength of the Silver Upper rank wasn’t significant in front of Kabais and Bai, but for these noble knights, it was an insurmountable mountain. The angels’ landing beca a center point, and the knights retreated en masse, their only option appearing to be a hasty retreat. A large number of knights turned and pushed their way down the city tower.

Soon, a breach was opened on the city wall.

Seeing this, Bai let out a cold snort. Without a word, he dragged Gruding and headed into the castle. For him, it didn’t matter whether these humans lived or died, as long as Gruding remained intact. The sa scenario did not elude Brand’s attention, who had been watching from the side. He smiled: Bai still doesn’t understand the nature of humans!

The young man lowered his head and whispered sothing to Qian at his side. The girl was slightly startled, gave him a glance, and then walked away sowhat uncertainly. Shortly after she left, shouts imdiately rose up on the battlefield:

“The Baron has fled!”

“The Baron has already fled!”

When the shouts began, the few noble soldiers still resisting on the city tower were slightly taken aback. They couldn’t help but turn back to look for Gruding, but the result was predictable—the battle line wavered in that instant. It was like the last straw that broke the cal’s back; upon discovering their lord was gone, Gruding’s knights collapsed entirely, or rather, scarcely resisted before surrendering altogether.

The situation beca increasingly clear as the rcenaries surged into the city tower like a flood. They lowered the drawbridge—Brand then led his n into the castle because for him: the final battle awaited.

The castle interior was dark and obscure, with corridors winding endlessly downward in a spiral shape. Perhaps Gruding thought only he knew the location of the secret passage in Fir Castle, but unfortunately, that didn’t matter to Brand. This was another innate advantage of his soul, just like when the Baron and Madara’s Undead General entered the hall where the passage was located—it was the sa for the young man, who followed right behind.

Both parties entered the hall simultaneously.

They also stopped simultaneously upon seeing each other—Brand, Qian, and Char on one side, Gruding, and Bai on the other—the Baron clearly had not anticipated this happening. He froze when it happened, almost suspecting if soone had betrayed him. For a mont, both sides stood motionless, separated by a long table.

The hall remained the sa, as if the scene from the previous day had reoccurred, even the atmosphere was strikingly similar.

In the eerie silence, even the air flow in the hall seed to slow to a halt—

However, Brand raised his head, glancing at the beautiful red crystal chandelier on the ceiling, unable to help but think about the astounding similarity of history. Only the day before, he chose to compromise here, but now he intended to reclaim what he had lost. He then lowered his head, looking at Gruding and the Undead Knight blocking his path.
