"Ah——!"

The girl's cry of pain echoed from the pitch-black tunnel. The dwarf, who had just crawled out of the passage, had to turn back. He saw Little Roman walking out with tearful eyes, her hands clutching her forehead.

"What's wrong?" The old dwarf brushed aside the rchant girl's left hand and saw the tearful Little Roman with a red bump on her snowy forehead. He couldn't help but widen his eyes and said angrily, "Bumped your head again? Haven't I told you—this passage is specially dug for , it's obviously shorter than you," Audem grumbled reluctantly, "So be more careful when going in and out!"

"You didn't say it again later!" Little Roman held her head, frowning and muttering softly.

"There's no need to keep reminding you, little girl!" The dwarf sighed and reached out to pull her out of the tunnel, "Alright, how are you feeling? Does it still hurt, little one?"

"Of course, it hurts!" she replied without hesitation.

"Even if it hurts, you have to endure it. We dwarves wouldn't make a sound even if we hit a steel plate." Audem looked down the slope; below was the road leading into the Mining Area. "Alright, we're in, now tie your headscarf quickly!"

But Roman was evidently more interested in the old dwarf's previous sentence. "Really?" She widened her eyes, "Hit a steel plate and won't make a sound...really?"

"Naturally," the old dwarf saw the obvious disbelief on the little girl's face and glared at her, "Nonsense! Little girl, a dwarf as old as , with a beard longer than your hair, would never deceive you!"

But then his mouth gaped as he saw Little Roman rummaging through her own backpack with great interest and taking out a piece of dark, heavy stuff.

"What's this?" Audem asked, filled with suspicion.

"A steel plate!"

"What for?"

"To test it?" The rchant girl widened her eyes, asking curiously.

"Go away, how could a dignified dwarf like do such a boring thing!" The old dwarf's expression changed instantly. "By the way, little girl, why do you have this thing in your bag!"

But his expression quickly turned quirky.

Because the rchant girl was smiling mischievously at him, her slender fingers drawing lines on her cheek, "Sha on you, bragging! Auntie wasn't lying to Roman! She said dwarves love to brag!"

"Who said so!" Audem was so angry that he jumped up, waving his fist, but then he suddenly rembered that she was just a young girl. A dwarf as old as him shouldn't argue with a little girl's aunt. In the end, reluctantly, he coughed, "Ahem, whoever told you that, let tell you, little one, only witches would say such things!"

Audem didn't realize that his words would co true, but he decided to maintain his dignity, "The reason we don't test it is because there's no need. This is a mining area, we sneaked in, if we make noise and get discovered, it'll be bad!"

"Really?"

"Of course! Little one, do you think an elder like would deceive you? I'm different from those cunning humans!"

But before he finished speaking, he heard a low shout from outside the woods:

"Who's in there?"

The old dwarf's words got stuck. He turned stiffly and found a patrol cavalry had appeared on the main road outside the woods, their conversation earlier had clearly caught the cavalry's attention.

"This is bad." Audem frowned. He put his thick, short finger to his lips and made a 'shush' gesture to Roman, "Don't make a sound."

He seed afraid Little Roman wouldn't understand and added a word of caution.

But the rchant girl seed to understand perfectly and nodded obediently, though her eyes were wide open, looking around curiously, naturally sowhat excited by the situation.

The two stowaways in the woods didn't speak, but that didn't an the people outside would dismiss the sounds they had heard. The riders exchanged glances and shouted louder, "Everyone inside, stop hiding, co out now, we've already seen you!"

They untied the handguns from their saddles and pointed them in, "If you don't co out, we'll attack!"

Little Roman imdiately turned her gaze to the old dwarf. Though she looked a bit dazed, having been through several battles with Brand, she understood that the Knights weren't just bluffing.
