The feeling of impending death was like falling into an ice cellar in an instant, the cold penetrating to the bone. A layer of frost ford on the surface of his skin, and his whole body froze, unable to move—as if the chill from the blade had already pierced his heart, even though the sword's edge had yet to touch him.

Brand felt his heart constrict suddenly. At that mont, he had no other thoughts, just an instinctive effort to dodge and avoid that lethal strike.

But it was still a little too late. Ti seed to pause at that mont, and he felt a slight sting on his back. Brand's nerves tightened, and he couldn't help but think:

Is this where it ends?

But at that very mont—

A blue light suddenly flashed from his body, and the sound of intersecting swords imdiately echoed through the arena.

His grandfather quickly retreated, and the blue light pursued him. They clashed swords ten tis in an instant—this was the first ti Brand's grandfather had been forced to retreat in a direct confrontation—he stepped back again to widen the distance and raised his longsword to see that it was already broken in half.

All this dizzying action was completed in the blink of an eye. Everyone, who a mont ago had covered their mouths watching Brand in danger, saw the situation completely reverse in the next instant.

Brand hadn't even reacted, maintaining the posture of being attacked. When he turned his head, he saw the pale blue figure standing between him and his grandfather or rather, blocking the path of those four attackers.

It was the ghost of a woman with long hair cascading over her shoulders. Her right hand pointed diagonally to the ground, holding an Elf Thin Sword, the tip of which was still slightly trembling.

Holy Seal Soul!

On the other side of the air wall, Kulan stared at the woman, montarily taken aback, but doubts quickly filled his mind: Who was this woman? He naturally knew her origin, but this Soul Seal did not belong to any he was familiar with.

His own Soul Seal was Wind Cutter Sola, and Tobus's Soul Seal was the Gray Knight Gries. But he never imagined that the old man's grandson's Soul Seal would be a woman—though he knew there were a few won among the Twenty-Four Knights, their swordsmanship was not suited for n.

Except for Wind Talk Soya, but Soya's main weapon was a bow, and all descriptions of her depicted her with a ponytail and a long cloak.

Clearly, this was not her.

However, what shocked him was that this Soul Seal could materialize. What kind of trait was this? Although he and Tobus's Soul Seals could also appear in front of people, as spirit entities, they couldn't interact physically with the world—yet, what had he seen? He saw that woman exchange ten sword strikes with Tobus.

He couldn't help but look up at this Duel Arena, suspecting that the Soul Seals might have stronger power in this half-fantasy space than outside.

"But this kid's luck isn't so good, selecting this Soul Seal," Kulan thought as he marveled, simultaneously confirming that this was indeed Brand's first ti activating his Soul Seal.

What he couldn't believe was that the young man had reached this stage without even activating his Soul Seal. What would be the limit of his achievents in the future?

Kulan couldn't speculate.

...

"Kid, this is the second ti I've saved you."

When the woman spoke, her voice was beautiful, carrying a mature and rational air. Without turning her head, her voice alone gave the impression— that she must be an extrely beautiful woman with outstanding temperant.

"Who are you?" Brand was stunned. Ever since crossing over, he didn't know he had a third soul in his body.

"I'll tell you later," the woman replied, "You've progressed quickly, but it's still not enough to deal with these enemies. I'll 'borrow' your body for a while."

'Borrow' your body?

Hearing this ambiguous statent, Brand's heart skipped a beat. He knew these ghosts—or rather, Banshees' talent— they could possess and occupy a body. He hurriedly stepped back, but the woman waved a hand, making his body involuntarily move forward, rging her ghost with him.

"Don't be afraid," the woman's voice echoed in his mind, "Focus on the ring on your hand."

"You...?"

Brand's eyes widened, finally realizing that the woman's ghost might have co from the ring on his hand. He rembered Kulan shouting to him outside, telling him the ring on his hand was genuine.

The real Wind Queen's Ring? The Divine Artifact of Saint Ausor, the Wind Queen's Breath?
